Compared to Melissa’s side of the meltdown and chaos. Joseph appeared calm and composed after seeing the photo, but the smile on his lips was eerily sinister.
He stood in an office of the Regalflow Group building, looking at the Chivers Group building not far away, absent–mindedly touching his empty right hand, his eyes hollow and cold.
Suddenly, he spoke coldly, “Morris, you’ve never experienced the agony of losing the woman you love, have you?”
On his desk lay a photo from Cherise’s visit to Morris at Chivers Group, showing them both walking away together.
Next to the photo was a personal file, containing nothing but Cherise’s name and a few simple lines.
Joseph scoffed and said, “Your taste is mediocre at best.”
Morris was driving with Cherise on their way to get some food, completely unaware of everything that had just happened.
Cherise turned her head to look at Morris and spoke slowly. “Was it you who made Zamora Comics go bankrupt?”
Morris didn’t deny it and nodded..
Cherise raised an eyebrow and asked, “Why?”
After all, Zamora Group hadn’t wronged him, and from what she checked, they even had business dealings together.
In the next moment, Morris explained slowly in his deep voice. Because they bullied my girl. I was just helping her get justice.
Cherise looked at Morris’s serious profile and chuckled softly as she lowered her head. She rolled down the window and stopped looking at Morris,

The car soon arrived at their destination. Cherise thought Morris would take her to a fancy restaurant or a unique private kitchen, but instead, he brought her to a barbecue place tucked away in an old alley.
After they parked the car, they walked and chatted. “Do you enjoy street food like this?” Morris asked Cherise.
Cherise nodded and said, “Street food has more of a homely feel so I really like it. But I didn’t expect you to know about such a place.”
Morris said, “Back when I was at Betrico University, Truman brought me here, and I felt it was really lively, so I started coming by occasionally for a drink and some barbecue.
“However, since graduating from Betrico University, I haven’t been back. I’m surprised this place is still here.”
Cherise looked puzzled and asked, “The famous head of the Chivers family likes eating barbecue al a street stand. I bet the girls who come to see you every day don’t know that.”
“What’s the matter? Are you feeling jealous? Morris asked back.
Cherise was stunned for a moment and thought. Jealous? Am I? Probably not

Cherise walked beside Morris’s tall figure, their shadows overlapping under the streetlight.
It’s not easy
drive in here, and it’s about a 300–meter walk from where they parked to the barbecue stall.
Even before seeing the BBQ stall’s sign, the air was filled with the captivating aroma of spices.
As the two reached the store entrance, the lady owner noticed them and joyfully ran out.

The lady owner said in hospitality, “Come on in, sweetie, have a seat and give my cooking a try. And for the young man, the usual?”
Morris, realizing she still remembered what they liked to eat, nodded with a “Sure,” and led Cherise inside.
It wasn’t quite dinnertime yet, so Morris and Cherise were the only customers in the place.
Morris looked around at the store’s setup; it was exactly the same as when he was at Betrico University.
A long bar counter stretched across one side, with a wall full of different bottles behind it.
Inside the place, there were about ten tables. Morris and Cherise went to a table in the corner to sit down.
Before long, the lady who owned the place brought out a large plate of grilled skewers.
There were lamb skewers, chicken feet, potato slices, tofu skin, and chives, all mixed with spices that created a mouthwatering aroma.
Cherise stared at Morris and said, “Mr. Chivers, I’m going to start eating now!”
Morris gave a fond smile and said, “Go ahead, dig in. You can order more; there’s plenty
Soon, the plate was left with just dozens of bamboo sticks.
Cherise patted her full stomach and looked at Morris. He not only cooked great meals himself but also always picked places that matched her taste when they ate out.
