Once Lionel was gone, Oliver said, “Cherise, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.” He could see the curiosity burning in her eyes when she first arrived.
Cherise’s usual timidity was replaced by a cold tone, and she asked, “Grandpa, what do you know about the events leading up to my mother’s death?”
Oliver was taken aback, not expecting Cherise to bring up such an old wound.
He let out a soft sigh and said, “Your mother was a shining star in the journalism and communication department at Broaniay University, and she was your father’s junior. They fell in love at first sight.”
“Back then, the Leach Group was more prosperous than it is now, and we didn’t pay much attention to social status. They got married, and a year later, you were born.” Oliver paused, his hands trembling slightly.
He went on, “Your mother had a strong career drive, and during those years, Astamia was constantly embroiled in war. No one wanted to be a war correspondent, but she volunteered.”
“After that, she rarely came home, and the last time we heard from her was just a few days before your fifth birthday.” Oliver’s voice wavered.
Cherise lowered her gaze and said indifferently. “So, you approved of Jacob marrying Mandy back then? I heard they were involved even before my mother passed away.”

He said. “They got together after your mother’s death. The Leach family was in a financial crisis, and I couldn’t let the family fall apart. The Lewis family was willing to help financially, so I agreed to their union.”
The temperature around Cherise seemed to drop. “So, who’s Shirley’s old man anyway?”
“Shirley’s father a different guy, and to be honest, we’re not exactly sure who he is.” Oliver’s voice wavered, and his emotions were clearly all over the place.
Cherise glanced at Oliver’s tightly clenched fists, narrowed her eyes, and said, “Grandpa, I won’t disturb you anymore today You should rest!” She turned to leave.

Cherise continued walking to the door and said, “I don’t know.” Then she opened the door and left. Oliver was left alone in his study, letting out a heavy sigh.
Evelyn and Andy were both out working and not at home. As soon as Cherise stepped out of the west wing of the Leach Manor, she made a phone call.
Crow answered almost immediately on the other end, “Hey, boss you finally remembered me. It’s been a whole 60 days since you last called”
Hearing his voice, Cherise said sternly. “Crow, be serious. This is important.”
Crow immediately became serious on the phone. “Go ahead.”
“Run a genetic comparison between Shirley’s and Jacob’s gene banks right away,” Cherise instructed.
Puzzled, Crow asked, “Boss, are you doubting that…
Cherise coldly replied, “Let’s see what the results say. She hung up the phone, looked back at the Leach residence, and whispered, “Grandpa, I hope you won’t disappoint me.”
