Chapter 11
It was as if the darkness that had been buried deep inside Lucas suddenly broke free.
He started punching Ava’s once–beautiful face, one blow after another.
She screamed in agony, but the woman didn’t let anyone call the police; she just
stood there, quietly enjoying Lucas’s revenge.
After beating Ava to a bloody pulp, Lucas threw her into the pool. The clear blue
water turned red as blood spread through it.
Lucas looked up, his face twisted with rage, and stared straight at me.
Without hesitation, I turned and ran.
The bodyguards quickly stepped between us, blocking his path.
I glanced at the thank–you message and the money transfer from the woman, then
silently deleted them.
Afterward, I hired professional bodyguards for myself, knowing I needed to protect
myself from Lucas’s potential retaliation.
My instincts were right.
Lucas had always been insecure about his low sperm count.
The public exposure of this fact that day had shattered his pride.
His dignity was trampled into the dirt.
When my lawyer delivered the divorce papers, it only fueled his anger.
A face under the brim of his hat.
Chapter 11
In the rainy night, a shadowy figure climbed up the drainpipe to the second floor.
I was startled awake by the cold, wet sensation as a large hand clamped over my
mouth, and a familiar voice whispered in my ear.
“Eva, don’t think you can leave me.”
“After all these years, how can you just walk away?”
“I’m not signing those divorce papers. We still have a future together.”
“I don’t care who that other man is. You better get rid of him, or I’ll kill him.”
With that, he climbed on top of me like a slimy toad, his body damp and reeking of
rain.
Despite his slow movements, I could sense the madness radiating from him.
I watched his every move, an idea forming in
my
mind.
In a weak voice, I whimpered, “Don’t touch me… You’re hurting the baby.”
He immediately pulled back, panic evident as he gently touched my stomach.
“A baby? You’re carrying our baby?”
But within seconds, he realized something was wrong.
“No, you had your period recently, and we haven’t been together since. This isn’t our
child!”
He lunged at me, but within seconds, the bodyguards I had summoned burst into the
room.
One of them kicked Lucas across the room, sending him crashing into a corner. I

quickly wrapped myself in a robe.
“Beat him until he can’t move,” I ordered coldly.
The bodyguards did their job, each blow making Lucas cry out in pain.
After a few well–placed kicks, Lucas was tied to a chair, looking like a pitiful creature,
his eyes filled with despair he couldn’t hide.
“Eva, how could you do this to me? I’m your husband!”
“How could you cheat on me? How could you be carrying another man’s child?”
“Ava’s face is ruined; I’ll never look at another woman again. Let’s get back together.”
His eyes were filled with sorrow, as if I had betrayed him, but he never considered
how many nights I had suffered under his torment.
I quietly placed a hand on my now–empty abdomen.
There was still a small scar from the abortion procedure.
I pulled back the robe slightly, revealing the scar, my smile cold, as if I were staring
down a murderer.
“Lucas, even a tiger doesn’t eat its own cubs. You killed our child with your own
hands.”
“The night you went to save Ava, our child slipped away, just like that pool of blood.”
Lucas’s eyes widened in disbelief.
He searched my eyes for any sign that I might be lying.
He searched for a long minute, but finally, he had to accept that I was telling the

I moved closer, showing him the scar that had healed well but still left a mottled
mark,
Then, in a voice as cold as a deep spring, I spoke, pouring ice–cold water over his
trembling eyelids,
“Lucas, you have no right to question my sincerity. I’ve had enough of you over these
six years.”
“You’re the one who was never sincere, and those who aren’t sincere should swallow
a thousand needles.”
