Chapter 101

Katrina’s POV

The ballroom was alive with laughter, music. I watched from a distance as they did their thing, a champagne glass in my

hand

I had plastered a smile on my face for the past one hour, nodding at anyone who came close to me and avoiding any conversation with anyone

I stared straight ahead but my mind was consumed by the man standing near the center of the room. Ethan. My ex

The one who had shattered my heart and left me to pick up the pieces alone. Now he stood there, laughing and joking, completely oblivious to the fact that his life was about to take a drastic turn

And I was supposed to be the one to pull the trigger

I didn’t know if to feel happy about that, or if to pity him. Imagine dying at your own wedding? And the bride? Poor girl. Silas’s words echoed in my mind: You can never be safe in the mafia because every day, someone plans your

And being the one to kill Ethan

My stomach churned at the thought. I wasn’t sure if it was because I was scared or because some twisted to do it

Either way, I had no choice. Silas didn’t give choiceshe gave orders and I had no choice but to follow

part of wanted

I stood frozen for a moment, watching Ethan. He was talking to a group of men, his lips pulled into a smug

He hadn’t changed at all. That same arrogance, the same charm that had fooled me years ago, was still written all over him. If anything he had gotten ten times more attractive than he looked the last time. Even though I didn’t want to admit it, I couldn’t lie

But I couldn’t forget that underneath all that attractiveness, there was something uglier

Silas leaned down slightly, his lips brushing against my ear. You need to stay close to him,he murmured. Figure out how to get near enough when the time comes.”

Get close enough to kill him. But I need to do it in a place no one would notice

I couldn’t kill him when the hall was this filled up, It would get a lot of attention

And I will cry if I get taken to jail

Is your head here, Katrina?Silas asked and I turned to him. My eyes drifted to Ethan who was still with his friends and back to Silas

I can do this

I nodded, my throat feeling dry. I hadn’t seen his bride yet and so I figured she was somewhere around

I needed them as far away as possible from each other before I lacked

Let’s go, Silas said, holding me

My heels clicked softly against the floor as Silas guided me through the crowd. He moved with a predator’s grace, his eyes

locked on Ethan

I knew that whatever was going to happen today, Ethan wouldn’t be coming out of it alive

Silas hand was firm on my waist as if silently reminding me of his control. We walked through the people, dodging through

thems

We stopped near a table filled with gifts, and I realized it was our turn to present ours to the happy couple. My stomach turned again at the thought of congratulating someone who was marrying Ethan

She didn’t know just what was about to happen. She would need to find a new husband by the end of today

As we approached the bride and groom, Ethan’s eyes finally landed on me. For a split second, his smile faltered, replaced by

confusion

It’s been a few years since we had last seen each other, I wonder if he would remember me

It took a few moments, but then recognition dawned on him and his lips curled into a mocking smirk.

Whatever he was going to say, I wasn’t going to like it

Well, well, he drawled, stepping forward. His gaze flicked to Silas, taking in his appearance and then it came back to me

Katrina, I didn’t think I’d see you here. Ormarried, for that matter.”

I felt Silas’s hand tighten on my waist, but I didn’t need him to step in. I could handle this

I’ve dealt with this man before, and I could do it again

Ethan’s smirk deepened as he continued, What happened? Couldn’t find anyone your age to marry you, so you settled for an old man?”

His words were meant to sting but it didn’t. But his presence annoyed me

Come on Katty. I thought you were better than this,”

That name. I hated that name. It’s been a while and he still hadn’t forgotten about this name

My blood boiled. I opened my mouth, but the words tumbled out before I could stop them

At least I didn’t have to trick someone into marrying me,” I shot back, my voice holding no warmth. How much of your debt did your bride’s family have to pay off for this little fairytale?”

Knowing something little about him was enough to use against him and it seem to hve hurt

Ethan’s smirk faltered, just for a moment, before he regained his composure

Finally his bride walked over to us and cleared her throat. I turned my attention to her, her face looking a little bit familiar. My heart stopped when I recognized her

Sarah

My high school best friend. The one who had warned me about Ethan, told me he wasn’t good enough for me

She had been pinning about me breaking up with me and going for a better guy because he wasn’t good enough and now look at what was happening

She was getting married to him

Chapter 101-

You’ve got to be kidding me,I muttered, more to myself than to anyone else

It seemed as if she had known it was me because her expression was anything but apologetic. She looked me up and dow faint smile playing on her lips

I can’t believe I used to be bestfriends with this bitch, right now I wanted nothing to be end her

Katrina,” she said, her voice sweet but dripping with malice Small world, isn’t it?”

A very small world indeed. After I had thought I would never see her again, this was she coming to bite me

Apparently,I replied, my voice tight

Sarah tilted her head, her smile never wavering. I told you Ethan wasn’t right for you,” she said. But I guess it’s not my fault you didn’t listen. You missed out.”

My fists clenched at my sides, but I forced myself to remain calm. Missed out? On what? A liar and a cheat? You can keep him.”

And I’m quite certain I wouldn’t be the one turning into a widow tonight so I really wasn’t missing out on anything

Sarah’s smile faltered slightly, but she quickly recovered, linking her arm with Ethan’s. Well, it seems I already got him,”

I wanted to scream at her, to tell her exactly what kind of man she was marrying, but I bit my tongue

It didn’t matter to me anyways. Let her have him.. Ethan’s days were numbered, and she’d find out soon enough who she had tied herself to

Her eyes flickered to Silas for moment and I watched as she dragged

his frame lustfully

I plastered a fake smile on my face and handed over the gift Silas had brought. Pushing the gift into Ethan’s hands, I linked my arms through Silas‘

was louder than any threat and even scarier

As we walked away from the happy couple, I let out a breath I hadn’t realized I was holding. My hands were shaking slightly, but I shoved them into the folds of my dress to hide it

Silas didn’t say a word, but I could feel the tension radiating off him. His silence

I didn’t know why I felt nervous, why meeting with my two exès after so many years brought this kind of reaction from me

Still not sure about wanting him dead?Silas asked, his voice dropping so only I could hear. It was quite obvious that he found everything that had just happened to be amusing

I didn’t hesitate. I am sure now. Let’s do this,”

Good,” he replied, his hand brushing against my waist again. Because now you need to figure out how you’re going to do

it.”

I stopped in my tracks and turned to face him. What do you mean?”

First he told me I would do the killing and now I have to figure out how to do it myself? It felt like he was toying with me ar this point

Silas’s dark eyes locked onto mine, a faint smirk tugging at his lips. This is your kill, Katrina. Your revenge. Im not going to do it for you

Do it for me? But this was original his work until we found out it had something to do with my ex

My chest tightened, but I didn’t back down Fine,I said, lifting my chin. I already have an idea.”

Chapter 101-

He raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. Do you now?”

I didn’t answer, just offered him a small, wicked smile

I had a plan to finally get rid of Ethan and if we could, his wife would go as well

The rest of the evening was a blur of music, laughter, and polite small talk I barely paid attention to

I don’t know why people kept coming to talk to you when you made it obvious you didn’t any to talk to them

My eyes kept darting back to Ethan, trying to figure out the best way to get close to him without raising suspicion

Silas stayed by my side, his presence both reassuring and suffocating. He didn’t say much, but I could feel his gaze on me, watching my every move

Like couldn’t he just give me space to do my thing? He wouldn’t help, but at least a little breathing space

As the night wore on, I found myself standing near the edge of the ballroom, a glass of champagne in my hand. Silas was speaking to someone a few feet away and I stayed around

I took a sip of my drink, my eyes scanning the room until they landed on Ethan again. He was laughing with Sarah, his arm around her waist

I wanted to know how this had happened, how this relationship started. But I guess it was just one of the things you never find out

A plan began to form in my mind, one that made my heart race with both fear and excitement

I turned to Silas as he rejoined me, his dark eyes studying my face

So,” I said, my voice low. Do you have a gun I can use, or am I supposed to improvise?”

He chuckled softly, the sound sending shivers down my spine. That’s for you to figure out.”

I smirked, feeling a strange sense of confidence wash over me. Then I guess it’s a good thing I’m good at improvising.”

Silas’s lips curled into a small smile, his hand brushing against mine. Don’t disappoint me, Katrina.”

I won’t,” I replied, my voice steady

As the night continued, I couldn’t shake the feeling that this was a turning point

The moment when I would finally take control of my lifeor lose it entirely

Either way, I was ready for whatever it was
