The ballroom was alive with laughter, music. I watched from a distance as they did their thing, a champagne glass in my

I stood frozen for a moment, watching Ethan. He was talking to a group of men, his lips pulled into a smug.

He hadn’t changed at all. That same arrogance, the same charm that had fooled me years ago, was still written all over him. If anything he had gotten ten times more attractive than he looked the last time. Even though I didn’t want to admit it, I couldn’t lie.

We stopped near a table filled with gifts, and I realized it was our turn to present ours to the happy couple. My stomach turned again at the thought of congratulating someone who was marrying Ethan.

She didn’t know just what was about to happen. She would need to find a new husband by the end of today.

As we approached the bride and groom, Ethan’s eyes finally landed on me. For a split second, his smile faltered, replaced by

That name. I hated that name. It’s been a while and he still hadn’t forgotten about this name.

My blood boiled. I opened my mouth, but the words tumbled out before I could stop them.

“At least I didn’t have to trick someone into marrying me,” I shot back, my voice holding no warmth. “How much of your debt did your bride’s family have to pay off for this little fairytale?”

Knowing something little about him was enough to use against him and it seem to hve hurt.

Ethan’s smirk faltered, just for a moment, before he regained his composure.

Finally his bride walked over to us and cleared her throat. I turned my attention to her, her face looking a little bit familiar. My heart stopped when I recognized her.

My high school best friend. The one who had warned me about Ethan, told me he wasn’t good enough for me.

She had been pinning about me breaking up with me and going for a better guy because he wasn’t good enough and now look at what was happening.

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” I muttered, more to myself than to anyone else.

A very small world indeed. After I had thought I would never see her again, this was she coming to bite me.

“Apparently,” I replied, my voice tight.

Sarah tilted her head, her smile never wavering. “I told you Ethan wasn’t right for you,” she said. “But I guess it’s not my fault you didn’t listen. You missed out.”

My fists clenched at my sides, but I forced myself to remain calm. “Missed out? On what? A liar and a cheat? You can keep him.”

And I’m quite certain I wouldn’t be the one turning into a widow tonight so I really wasn’t missing out on anything.

Sarah’s smile faltered slightly, but she quickly recovered, linking her arm with Ethan’s. “Well, it seems I already got him,”

I wanted to scream at her, to tell her exactly what kind of man she was marrying, but I bit my tongue.

It didn’t matter to me anyways. Let her have him.. Ethan’s days were numbered, and she’d find out soon enough who she had tied herself to.

I stopped in my tracks and turned to face him. “What do you mean?”

First he told me I would do the killing and now I have to figure out how to do it myself? It felt like he was toying with me ar this point.

He raised an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. “Do you now?”
