Chapter 60
Quinn
During the tug of war. I expected Terry to rebel, but he didn’t. To my surprise, he followed my instructions and passed the information to the rest
Together, we won.
We went to the venue where the kids sat, while Moon congratulated us, all Junior had to say was “proud of you boys. Typical of him. I threw him a glare to shut up. 1 saw Terry look at him in disbelief. I was sure he was wondering if he heard right.
I didn’t want to partake in the father and son race, but when Moon asked if we were alright and if we would be able to participate, my heart melted Terry promised him that we would.
As we ate to pass time, the coordinator soon came and called the names of the first five kids to participate with their fathers. Moon and Junior were one of them. We went to the tracks, getting ready
“I’m not doing this race with you Junior suddenly said.
“What do you mean by that?” I asked wondering what he was up to this time.
“You ask a lot of questions, just be calm” He said.
“I only asked a question. How is that a lot of questions I asked.
“Oh look, he’s coming” He said, ignoring me. I saw Moon coming in my direction and Junior going to Terry
“We sh
uh actually decided to exchange. I wanted to do the race with you” Moon said, looking at his feet.
“So that’s what that brat could not explain. I’ll deal with him later. I muttered.
My heart warmed, hearing he wanted to do the race with me.
When the whiule was blown. I saw him run with agility and passion, leaving the other kid behind. Junior on the other hand, was running lazily, yet he was still leading the race. Junior was almost close to handing Terry the baton when he suddenly slowed down.
I raised a brow at this. It seemed he was waiting for Moon to hand the baton to me before he handed it to Terry I could see Terry grit his teeth at this. My nephew was unpredictable, I wondered what he had in mind doing this
Terry ran, almost gaining on me, so I increased my speed, to make Moon proud, I crossed the finish line and won the race. If Terry had probably gotten the baton earlier, we would likely be at par.
Moon was ecstatic as he hugged my leg. I lifted him up a and twirled him as he giggled.
We were announced as the winner and given medals.
Terry and Junior came to us and Moon requested ice cream. Terry initially refused, but Moon played the cute card and Junior chipped in, so he agreed. I drew closer to my nephew and asked him,
Why did you do that at the race!”
“This is the second time I’m being asked this question today” He groaned.
“Answer me.” I hissed.
“Well, I did it to help my sweet uncle.” He said, smiling at me sweetly, which I cringed at.
“It’s okay, stop it. Stop your smile, it’s annoying” I hurriedly said
Terry took us to an
o an ice–cream shop, where we ordered different flavours of ice–cream. Terry got a chocolate, Junior went for a citrus flavoured one, while Moon and I went for a vanilla flavoured one.
I noticed Terry was looking at me, but I pretended not to notice and focused on eating the ice cream while
le watching Moon chat with Junior. The _stares didn’t stop, he continued. I wondered if he was aware that I knew he was staring at me.
I was soon door with my ice cream. I had spent enough time with Junior, it was time for him to go home. His mother called as if knowing my thoughts, and I told her that I would drop him off.
Terry and Moon were done too, and we left the ice cream shop togrih
together.
“Bye Junior Moon sand, waving at him as he was about to enter the car junior paused midway and stared at Moon for a few seconds as if he were contemplating something. He suddenly walked inwards Moon and ruffled his hair.

“Bye, see you at school. He said.
This had me blinking, my plan to stop both of them from meeting had been ruined. I guess I just had to leave them, it seemed Junior really wanted to make a friend this time.
“Bye Mr. Quinn.” He waved, and I waved back at him smiling before driving away without saying anything to Terry.
“What’s with you and Moon?“Junior suddenly asked as in the car.
-I didn’t know you loved kids that much, one would think you hated them with the way you treat me.” He scoffed.
I ignored him, and focused on driving,
“He would have passed as your son, if you were married.” He went on, and hearing this made my heart skip.
If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
His father was dead, and I wondered what his father looked like.
“Enough of talking about Moon
- on. Just keep shut and let me drive peacefully. He threw me a glare, before keeping quiet.”
I got to his parents‘ mansion and dropped him off
“Quinn! It’s been a long time. Dinner would soon be ready, stay for dinner.” My cousin requested.
“Uh, I wish I could, but I’ve got
“I’m not taking no for an answer. She insisted, interrupting me
“Let him go mum. He’s only going to shorten our dinner, and besides I want to eat that marinated chicken alone. Junior grumbled
“Hush child and go freshen up” His mother scolded him.
I eventually sat for dinner at her p
place, with Junior glaring at me.
“So how’s work, Quinn!” She asked.
“Work is going well, just a bit stressful.” I answered.
“Look at you, you’re getting leaner. Eat more.” She said, scooping more chicken to my plate.
Junior grunted at this.
“I want some too mum.
His mother shook her head and added some more on his plate.
I was enjoying the meal when my phone beeped. I picked up my phone to check the message, it was an email. It was from Ana’s company, saying that there would be a shareholders meeting
This brought a smile to my face, my plan was working.
