Ana’s food was brought to the judges‘ table and they each had some bites 1 stop eating her dish but had to stop because of the cameras everywhere.

She was beaming with a knowing smile and 1 subconsciously smiled to myself,
She knew the obvious. They loved the dish already.
“This dish is perfect“‘” One of the judg
the judges remarked after wiping his mouth.
“This is impressive. You delivered exactly what was asked” Another chipped.
Ana bowed slightly with a bright smile.
She returned to the kitchen to wait for the results with the other chefs.
tell from the way they savored the dish that they didn’t want to
I didn’t taste the food, neither did I know what the judges discussed but I knew that they were impressed with Ana’s dish.
The contestants were called out again and thearts hung in the air as the judges proceeded to call out the names of the chefs who won the competition
Ana’s dish was the best. The crowd cheered for her and the judges shook her hand as they complimented her.
A cheque of Twenty–five thousand dollars was given to her. It seemed like they were also going to promote her restaurant in their channel throughout the rest of the year. I heard they did it for their previous winners and Ana wasn’t going to be an exception.
I pinned my gaze on Ana who accepted people’s greetings and walked through the crowd with smiles.
How did she go from a zero to a hundred! I asked inwardly.
How did she change and become this ambitious in three years? Or she was probably this ambitious all the while, I just didn’t see it.
I felt a bitter taste in my throat at the thought of how I treated her.
I was so caught up in my thoughts that I almost didn’t see her walking towards me.
I snapped back to the present and smiled sheepishly at her but she walked past me.
Dumb of me to think that she saw me amid the crowd.
More fans gathered her for pictures and she attended to every one of them calmly, also telling anyone who talked about her food that they could taste her cooking at her restaurant.
She gave cards to some while she just spoke casually to others. I stood some inches away, admiring the lady she had become – A fearless goal–getter.
“Congratulations Ana” I greeted walking to her from behind.
She turned with a smile on her face that dispersed quickly as she saw me instead of one of her fans.
“What? Are you not going to accept my congratulatory greetings?” I asked as I covered the distance but she kept mute.
“Thank you” She replied curtly and quickly flashed a smile at a fan who waved at her
“Is this about the other day?” I asked, with concern in my voice but she averted her gaze from me.
She didn’t want to speak with me and I got the hint. I came all the way to see
y to see her but she still didn’t want to speak withi
me
“I’m sorry about the other day, I had no idea that it pissed you off this much. I explained but she was uninterested,
I felt sour within me and I felt an ache in my heart.
What happened to her within some days that she didn’t even want to hear me speak? Even when she came back after three years, we spoke no matter how rough it was.
Is it because of what I said to T
to Terry or is there something else?‘ I couldn’t help but wonder.
Did she love Terry
y that much! Their relationship was
is this strong that she didn’t mind not speaking to me anymore.

I was about to speak but she suddenly walked away, greeting someone. I was left alone.
This time with a stinging heart.
There was no need to wait around
She didn’t want to see me, let alone talk to me.
t as I turned to leave, my phone vibrated in my pocket and I brought it out to see that it was Fleur calling
Just 35
“Where are you now! He asked the moment I picked and I told him I was about to leave,
“Come to the parking lot. He said and I cut the call.
He came to check on me. After dropping Veronica off. And I almost don’t recognize his presence these days.
Ever since the day he gave me the pep talk about asking for Ana’s forgiveness and facing my feelings head–on, he seemed distant for some reason.
He didn’t speak to me about Ana anymoir nor did he taunt me about my feelings.
“How long have you
you been here?” I asked when I got to my car.
“I just came. Are they done?” He asked, gesturing towards the side of the event.
“Yeah. Let’s go.” I said but he paused.
“Aren’t you going to see her?” He asked puzzled but I shook my head
“Nechh, she doesn’t want to see me. Can’t force her. She won by the way” I said, patting Fleur on his shoulder and turning to the other side of the
“Why doesn’t she wa
want to see your Fleur asked, trying to understand what I was saying.
“I thought you were in a good situation with her!.. what did you do?” He asked, looking at me suspiciously and I groaned in frustration,
“Oli come on Fleur, let’s just drive home shall we?” I asked but he shook his head in disapproval.
“What did you do this time” He asked again and I gave in
“I just put Terry in his place, He was yapping too much, I couldn’t watch him talk, in such manner when they’re not even dating or anything so that`s what I just told him. He got angry and stormed out of the restaurant. She’s refused to speak to me since then.”
Fleur let out a sigh of disappointment and rubbed his forehead with his palm
were coming to see Ana.
“Why do you spoil things with your words! Plus you don’t know how to pretend –
I at all. You made it so obvious that you were c Veronica knows and 1 know. You’re just a pile of work to do. He said with a sigh
“When will you learn?” Fleur asked and I rested my back for the forthcoming lesture. It’s been long enough
