Chapter 11
Avery rubbed her waist and secretly glared at Joshua.
The man appeared cold and distant on the surface, but in reality… he was a wolf in sheep’s clothing!
“What are you thinking about?” Joshua’s voice sounded, and Avery immediately felt guilty.
She quickly shook her head. “Nothing, nothing.”
Joshua suddenly picked her up.
Avery thought he was going to torment her again and quickly pushed against him. “Let me go! “Her voice sounded a bit hoarse but somehow even more alluring than usual.
He lowered his head and saw her flushed face. Her eyes were still wet with tears, and her lips. were red and swollen.
The way she looked gave Joshua the urge to take her again right then and there. His throat tightened as he fought to control his desire.
He lowered his voice and said, “Didn’t you want to put on a show for him? If I carry you downstairs now, wouldn’t it be even more convincing?”
Avery froze. So… he knew she was putting on a show.
Joshua saw the dazed expression on her face and felt helpless. He gently wiped the tears from the corner of her eye with his thumb before carrying her downstairs.
Avery quickly snapped out of it and wrapped her arms around his neck affectionately.
Since Joshua was willing to play along with her, she might as well make full use of the
situation.
Joshua walked down with Avery in his arms. Downstairs, Clyde’s eyes bore into her. He looked as if he wanted to tear her apart.
Under the light, Avery’s already pale skin made the hickeys on her neck–stand out even more.
That bitch! When they were together, she acted like a chaste and virtuous woman, unwilling to even kiss him. After getting together with Joshua, she was openly intimate with him.
As expected, she was nothing but a cheap woman
As soon as he called off their wedding, Avery wasted no time in getting close to someone else.
“Do you want your eyes to be gouged out?”
Although Clyde was dissatisfied, he still feared Joshua enough to look away.
“Uncle Joshua, I didn’t expect to meet you here today. Are you here for a business deal?”
“Are you blind?” Joshua frowned slightly, as if even saying one more word to Clyde was a waste of his time.
The foreign woman in Clyde’s arms looked up at him in surprise when she heard Joshua’s words.
Clyde instantly felt embarrassed.
Before he could retort, Avery smiled and said, “Darling, don’t frown. You’re more handsome when you don’t frown.”
Then, she reached up to smooth his brows.
Seeing that, Clyde was seething.
He sneered as he looked at Avery, “You really can’t live without a man for even a day, can you? You just got dumped by me and now, you’re shamelessly trying to seduce my uncle?”
Joshua put Avery down and immediately slapped Clyde across the face. Then, Avery raised her hand and slapped Clyde’s other cheek.
A look of displeasure flashed across Joshua’s face when he saw her hit Clyde. “Does your hand hurt?”
“A little.” Avery mischievously batted her eyelashes and pouted at him. “Darling, will you massage it for me?”
“How spoiled you are.” Although Joshua said so, he still took her hand and gently massaged it.
Clyde was still dazed from the slaps. When he finally recovered, he had to endure watching their affectionate act.
Seeing how Avery rested against Joshua’s chest while smiling happily, he was reminded of those two slaps they gave him. He wanted so badly to rush over and rip Avery apart
But he still feared Joshua, so he didn’t dare approach and instead hissed through clenched teeth, “Uncle Joshua, Avery is nothing but a slut who can’t live without flirting with men. You’d better”
“If you don’t know how to talk, I wouldn’t mind making sure you’ll never speak again.” Joshua’s voice was cold and emotionless.
Clyde trembled all over, but he still fought to suppress the fear in his heart as he looked up at Joshua.
It seemed like he wanted to finish what he was trying to say earlier. But as soon as he looked up and met Joshua’s murderous gaze, his legs went weak and he almost collapsed onto the ground.
“Apologize to your aunt.‘
Clyde felt indignant in his heart. Asking him to apologize to Avery was an outright insult to his face!
But when his peripheral vision caught sight of Delcan bringing several bodyguards over, instantly became intimidated.
Was Joshua actually thinking of killing him?
At that thought, Clyde broke out in a cold sweat.

Seeing that the bodyguards were already in front of him, he could no longer care about his ego. He quickly apologized to Avery, “A–Aunt Avery, I’m sorry. I… I won’t do it again…” Seeing Clyde bowing his head in apology, Avery felt a sense of satisfaction. It felt even better than when she exposed the ugly affair between Clyde and Abigail on their wedding day.
Once he finished apologizing, Avery didn’t immediately respond. Instead, she leisurely surveyed the surroundings.
The situation quickly drew attention from others nearby. Many people discreetly looked over, and some even started whispering to each other.
“Isn’t that Mr. Joshua? Why is he here? Could it be that he has a girlfriend now?”
“I don’t know. But the woman next to him looks like Avery, the eldest daughter of the Sinclairs.”
“I think the one apologizing to Mr. Joshua looks like Mr. Clyde. Did he do something wrong again?”
Hearing the murmurs, Clyde was humiliated beyond words. He wanted to leave this place of gossip as soon as possible, but the bodyguards behind had their eyes on him. It was like sharp needles poking his back..
He didn’t dare to make a move and could only remain in his bent–over position.
Clyde lowered his head, wishing he could dig a hole in the ground and burrow in. He feared someone might actually recognize him, which would ruin his reputation.
As time ticked by, Avery finally said, “Oh, why aren’t you getting up, my big nephew?”
Clyde nearly lost his composure at being called “big nephew“. He wanted to curse, Joshua’s threatening gaze, he swallowed the vulgar words.

He stood up and forced a smile that was uglier than crying. Then, he forced his words through gritted teeth, “Thank you, Aunt Avery.”
Avery nodded with a satisfied smile. “Such a good child.”
Joshua watched her, his lips twitching. She was much more capable than he had imagined.
Clyde trembled with anger at Avery’s words, his face contorting with rage.
“Uncle Joshua, I suddenly remember there’s something I have to take care of. I’ll take my leave first.”
Seeing as Joshua didn’t oppose it, Clyde turned and hurried off. It was as if he feared that if he lingered any longer, Joshua might change his mind.
Watching Clyde’s pitiful retreating figure, Avery couldn’t help but laugh.
Joshua watched as she laughed heartily, and his mood became better.
“Do you feel better now?”
Avery nodded vigorously. “Yeah! Thank you…”
Joshua raised an eyebrow. “Who are you thanking?”
“Mr. Smith.”
Joshua’s expression instantly darkened.
