Chapter 22
ISABEL’S POINT OF VIEW
“I never knew they chop vegetables like this. I nearly got a heart attack thinking you’d chop off your fingers,” Hayden remarked, and I smiled.
“You thought they roast them?” Hector teased, and we all laughed. Having the conversation kind of opened me up to how nice they were on the inside.
Hector assisted me with the rest of the meal. “I doubted your words, Isabel, but this is nice,” Hector complimented me as he took another spoonful of the meal.
“I can’t believe we are eating right in the kitchen. It’s crazy!” I laughed, and they smiled. We were eating from the same plate, if someone walked in on us, they might just get a mini heart attack.
“Thank you for tonight,” Hayden commented when they saw me off to my door, and I smiled.
“Thank you two for making this evening memorable for me. Goodnight, Hayden, and Hector,” I greeted, and they smiled before making their way to their room.
I cleaned up and changed into an outfit that was comfortable for the weather as I waited patiently for Gina. It wasn’t too long before I heard her footsteps.
“Luna,” she called, and I opened the door.
“I almost thought you wouldn’t show up tonight,” I teased, and she smiled.
“I got a guard to join us. We’re not about to roam the pack alone. I can’t compromise your safety,” she explained, and my eyes widened.
“You got somebody else? What if we get into trouble?” I inquired, and she shook her head.
“It’s someone I trust. He doesn’t know the details, but he’s not a fan of Lady Lucia. Xavier cares about me and will not try to compromise my safety, not for anything in the world,” she declared, and I almost swooned at the level of trust she had for this man.
“You know what, I’m eager to meet this guy that has my friend like this,” I joked, and she blushed red.
“You called me your friend,” she

more than a handmaid, Gina; you’re a friend turned sister,” I said, smiling, and I pulled her into a hug.
After Yuna left me because of the misunderstanding, I don’t know what I would have done if Gina hadn’t shown up as someone I could trust.

“Luna,” the young man greeted, bowing in respect.
“You must be Xavier. I’m Isabel,” I introduced myself stretching my hand for a handshake, he shook my hand and smiled.
“It’s great to finally meet you, Isabel. Indeed, words do not do you justice. It’s late, and I can still see your beauty,” he
commented, and Gina chuckled.
“He’s a sweet talker,” she remarked, and his jaw literally dropped while I chuckled.
“We must get going now so we don’t arrive too late. She is expecting us.”

When we reached her house, Grandma Shu was waiting patiently outside her hut. “My child,” she called as she pulled me
into her arms.
“Grandma Shu, I can’t breathe!” I cried out, and everyone chuckled.
“I’ve missed you so much. You stopped visiting your old woman she complained.
“The princes don’t let me out of their sight,” I explained, and she smiled.
“It’s getting close to your birthday. With the amount of hate coming from your own family, I’d be careful too if I were in their shoes,” she said as she led me into her house.
“And who are these people?” she asked curiously.
“My handmaid and friend Gina, and this is Xavier,” I introduced,
“Gina, Xavier, this is Grandma Shu, someone who has loved and protected me like her own daughter,” I explained, and Gina walked into her arms for a hug.
“Make yourselves comfortable,” she instructed as we sat down.
Grandma Shu went into her kitchen to get us bottles of water and clean glasses. “I received your texts, Isabel, but I don’t understand how you managed to get into the Royal Library. Let me see the books,” she said, and I handed the few books we picked over to her, along with a few more we were able to pick.
“I have little knowledge of witches. In fact, right before my human husband turned into the real devil that he was, we made our home a safe place, a sort of witches hideout. No one knew about it back then. The witches that managed to escape the pack were the ones who were helped by us,” she revealed.
“You must have heard about Celeste,” Gina revealed as she rubbed her forehead.

“The rumored girlfriend of the Alpha prince’s father. Everyone knew Celeste placed the curse the princes. It’s no news,” she said, and I bit my lower lip.
“Those dreams I’ve been having, right before I left your house, they’ve been recurring, and now we think it’s all connected to the curse. Because a voice keeps telling me the curse must be broken. I’ve been trying to put two and two together, but it leads to nothing, absolutely nothing,” I explained frustratedly, and her eyes softened as she looked at me.
“Everyone believes I was cursed by the Moon Goddess, but what if there’s more to it?” I questioned.
“The Moon Goddess did not call you cursed. The pack members believe you who couldn’t face the fact that you’re unique,” she explained, and I smiled.
“Exactly what I believe,” Gina affirmed, and I smiled.
“The question is, how do we get to the bottom of this?” I asked calmly.
were cursed because you were rejected by men
GrandmaShu responded, “For now, I don’t know how to help not until I’ve gone through the books myself.”
“I still have some journals with me that belonged to those witches who stayed around my place in the past. You have nothing to worry about, Isabel. You must stay strong,” Grandma Shu advised, and I nodded.
I’m done letting people walk all over me. If I’m not strong, bad things will keep happening to me. In the end, I might not be able to defend myself.
AUTHOR’S POINT OF VIEW
Moans and groans filled the room as the man pounded into her with reckless abandon. Amelia got down from the bed after the hot make–out session and ran her fingers through her hair.

“Quit asking me stupid questions and get to work. You made me a promise that you’d get Isabel out of the princes‘ lives.” She sneered.
“I can’t keep waiting for someone who won’t even do anything to help. How am I supposed to trust you when Evelyn wants what I want and might be ten steps ahead of me?” Amelia asked angrily.
“I’ve been gracing your bed for a long time, Viktor! Don’t provoke me!” she snapped angrily, and he sighed.
“I had a meeting with Hector recently. I’m considered the wisest man in the pack, so the princes come to me for counsel. You just have to give me time, you will be Luna,” he assured her, and she glared at him.
“You’d better give me something reasonable,” she rolled her eyes, and he got down from the bed, walked over to her, and kissed her shoulders romantically.
“I got you a gift, my Amelia,” he revealed, handing her a box.
“Wow, this is real jewellery, Viktor. Thank you so much,” Amelia said happily, kissing his lips sweetly.
“The princes are throwing a ball in honour of their mother soon. I can get you a pass to the party, use it wisely,” he said, and she squealed in excitement.
“Finally, something my sister cannot get. You are a darling, Viktor. I’m going to use it wisely,” she replied, rubbing her face.
“I need invitations for my parents. It’s only fitting that we have the full family in attendance,” she added, and he stared at her curiously.
“What about the princes? They might not like the idea of you bringing all your family members….” he trailed off, and Amelia smirked.
“Oh, Viktor, they know better than to try to throw the parents of their Luna out of the Royal mansion,” she responded, and it made sense to him,
“Indeed, you are the master planner, Amelia,” he complimented her as he kissed her shoulders.
“Viktor, I’m tired. Let me rest. You can use this time to do something productive,” she suggested, and his jaw dropped.
“But… Amelia,” he trailed off.
“I said I’m tired, Viktor. We had a deal, do what I’ve asked you to and the body is all yours,” she replied, and he stared at her angrily.
“Don’t look at me like that, Viktor. You have a wife. With your reputation in the pack, we both know what would happen if our affair got out in the open. After all, I am shameless,” she remarked, smirking, and Viktor froze.
