ISABEL’S POV
When I opened my eyes, I looked around and saw the dark coloured curtains, and then the marble floors. I bit my lower lip as my eyes moved back to the duvet.
What happened after I fainted, I thought.
“Good morning. Miss Isabel, how are you feeling now?” A lady walked into the room, breaking me out of my thought, she placed the tray filled with fruits and stared at me with worry in her eyes.
“Who are you? Where am I? I murmured as pain shot through my head..
“You need to rest. The pack doctor has instructed us to take good care of you,” she explained as she helped me sit properly.
My mind went back to what happened in the woods, and I bit my lower lip. What happened after I passed out? What about Yuna? Is she even safe? Different questions filled my mind, and sat up again.
The doors of the chambers flew open as an older woman made her way into the room, clad in a long black royal dress. Her hair was tied in a bun, and she looked every bit of royalty. The look in her eyes gave me every reason to believe she was
unkind.
Excuse us,” she instructed the other lady, who bowed and hurried out of the room as fast as her legs could carry her.
The tension in the room was thick, so thick I felt it in my bones, “Good… morning. I stuttered in fear.
“You must be Isabel, the supposed mate that caught the eyes of the Alpha princes. How sweet, she sneered, and I looked

“Yes, I am Isabel, I responded, and she scoffed bitterly.
“Isabel, the same girl that was rejected six times by different mates. Your reputation stinks, just like your mission in this household, she retorted, and I stared at her speechlessly. I didn’t even know what to say or how to react.
Just when I thought I had managed to leave behind the hatred and degradation from my own family members, I was suddenly faced with this woman from the royal palace. By the look on her face, it was obvious she hated me with every in her body.

“You come with a lot of baggage. Isabel,” she mocked, as she picked up one of the fruits on the tray and are from it.
“Tell me about yourself, aside from the fact that you are as weak as a weakling. What are you capable of? Any special abilities we should be proud of?” she sneered, and I opened and closed my mouth in shame
“Poor girl, how do you expect to rule beside Hayden and Hector as their Luna?” she continued, and my fes stung with unshed tears.
Never in my life had I been humiliated like this. Her words cut deep into my heart. No matter how I tried to act normal, it felt like I was about to lose my mind.
“I am Isabel. I might not have a wolf. You might define me as a weakling, but I have a good heart… I voiced out.

“What is that good heart going to do for the pack? Isabel, there is more to being a Laina than just being mated to the Alpha twins of this pack. I would rather die than watch you rule beside them,” she taunted, and I stared at my hands as tears rolled down my cheeks.
The doors opened again, and 1 quickly wiped the tears from my eyes. “Isabel,” I heard Hayden’s voice as he made his way into the room.
I knew he was with Hector because I could feel both of their presence. “Aunt Lucia, Hector greeted as they exchanged cheek kisses. He stood next to his aunt while Hayden sat on the bed.
“How do you feel now?” Hayden questioned calmly as he held my hand while checking my body temperature with the back of his hand. I could see concern in Hector’s eyes, but he didn’t say anything.
“I feel better,” I replied softly.
“Have you been crying? Your eyes look… Hayden began.
“Oh, it must be the aftermath of the medication from the pack doctor. She doesn’t have a wolf, remember? Her ability to control her human form is supposed to quicken her healing abilities. But none of that is possible,” Aunty Lucia tried to cover. it up, and that only added to the sore feeling in my chest.
I am fine,” Fmuttered under my breath, feeling too tired to react to everything that was happening around me.
“Yuna, where is Yuna?” I blurted out when she came to mind. We were out in the woods together and got attacked by the rogue. What if something bad happened to her in the process?
“Yuna happens to be that friend of yours who took you to the woods, right? Hector queried.
“She didn’t force me. I felt tied to the pack and wanted to explore. Yuna did nothing to contribute to what happened,” I insisted immediately.
“It doesn’t change the fact that she risked your life. That’s what we’re talking about right now,” Hayden declared, and my heart sank.
“It’s my fault. Yuna had no plans to hurt me. We got into the mess together,” I defended, and their aunt looked away. She didn’t seem pleased by the outcome of things.
“Leaving it even the pack and going past the border was already bad in the first place. The fact that she went with you make worse. She will be punished for it,” Hayden declared, and I cried from the pain that overwhelmed me.
“Yuna is the closest person to me, Hayden. Please, I begged, and he stared at me calmly. If there’s one person to consider my words, it’s definitely Hayden. Hector, on the other hand, doesn’t even like me to begin with.

Evelyn made her way into the house to confront Amelia. The fact that her sister stood up against her for Isabel was already a slap on her reputation among the students.

Yuna made her way out of the dungeon. Somehow, she had not heard from Isabel while she was locked up. She felt hurt, betrayed, and sad. They had promised to stand by each other through it all, yet her friend did nothing to help her.
“Mom,” Yuna called softly when her eyes met her mother’s.
“I heard everything that happened. You never listen when you are advised. Look where your relationship with that wolfless girl got you, in jail! her mother spat, her voice dripping with nothing but hatred.

Yuna felt hurt by everything she just heard. She had nothing to say in Isabel’s defence. After all, her friend had left her in the dungeon to rot

There was nothing Yuna could say in Isabel’s defence because her friend had deserted her at the one time she needed her the most. Indeed, she was done being friends with the cursed girl
