Chapter 7
ISABEL’S POV
“I was willing to give you everything you have ever wanted, halel yer you chose those God–forsaken bastards over mer he groaned, and I spat in his face. His grip on my neck loosened as he tried to wipe the saliva off his face. I pulled the door open and ran into the night
“Come back here, label!”
I will only get worse if I have to get you myself he warned. As his steps drew closer, I tried to quicken my pace, tears rolling down my face. But I fell flat on the ground, injuring my leg in the process.
“Got you right where I want you, he laughed like a maniac. As he moved to grabe me, I screamed in panic as blood splashed
all over me.
I watched in shock and fear. Caleb’s head was snapped off by Hoctor, and Hayden kicked his lifeless body
“Oh my goodness. oh my.. oh… my.” I cried out, overwhelmed by fear.
“He’s gone and will never bother you again. We took care of him, Isabel,” Hayden assured me, but my fear only intensified as I screamed in panic.
“She’s having a panic attack, Hector explained as Hayden bent down to my level. That was the last thing I remembered.
When I woke up. I found myself in my room at home, and it was already late. None of the princes were in sight.
Sighing softly, I got out of bed and made my way to the bathroom to wash my face. The fact that Caleb was dead made me feel heartbroken all over again.
When I came out of the room, I overheard an ongoing conversation between my mom and Grandma Shu.
Leave my house, ma’am Shu! I don’t understand why you want to ruin my family’s image more than my good for nothing daughter already has!” she spat angrily, and ma’am Shu stared at her with a frown on her face.
“Excuse me?” Grandma Shu replied in shock.
“You think I don’t know what you’ve done to my daughter?
“You’re the pack’s weirdo! Everyone knows what you and that human did in the past. Now you’ve taken it upon yourself to starp that reputation on Isabel”
“The fact that she’s cursed is enough to make our family the laughingstock of the entire pack,” she shot back angrily.
“You’re going too far with this. With the princes in your daughter’s life, she has another chance at life! The curse can be broken, and she will find happiness,” Grandma Shu tried to make her understand, but my mum wasn’tinterestedin whatevershe has to say:
“What kind of happiness? You must be out of your mind! She doesn’t even have a wolf! Isabel is a disgrace, a weakling a curse, she snarled
“She can’t become the Luna of the Moonstone Pack when I have Amelia and Evelyn here,” my mum said, and I felt a sharp pain in my chest that I held my chest unconsciously,
“Im beginning to feel like the girl isn’t safe with her own family Grandma Shu added sadly.
“She wasn’t even safe in your shop. The news is already out. Thaslaughter of mine never fails to be on the tabloids of the pack. How interesting my mom sneered with hatred, and I walked in on them at that moment:

Chapter 7
“Oh my Gabel, Grandma Shu exclaimed as she rushed over to me and kissed both sides of my cheeks happily
I’m so sorry I left you.”
“None of that would have happened if I had stayed with you. How could Caleb be so cruel?” Grandma Shu saidd, glaring back at my mother, who seemed uninterested in what we were doing
We walked out of the house, and she asked me what had happened in detail. “Caleb was something else. He wanted revenge. For a moment, I lost all hope of survival because he was blinded by the urge to end me.”
“It hurts. He rejected me and left, then turned it on me, saying left him for the Alpha princes, I explained bitterly.
“Don’t I deserve an ounce of happiness? I questioned, and her eyes softened toward me.
“I understand how you feel, but don’t let any of this make you weak. If you can’t stay with your parents anymore, my house is big enough for both of us,” Grandma Shu offered, and I smiled.
“I really appreciate it, Ma’am Shu, but I don’t think I can leave this house, I admitted, and she nodded, giving me a light pat on the back before walking out..
The next day at school, as if the stares from the students weren’t enough, this time they came out in numbers to stare and whisper among themselves.
“Isa, Isabel,” Yuna called, running into my arms.
“I heard what happened, and I can’t believe it. How could Caleb stoop so low? I’m glad the Alpha princes put him in his place,” she fumed.
“Yuna, Caleb was his father’s only son, and he died because of me, I responded, and her eyes softened.
“The princes killed him in your defense, everyone knows that. I know you feel bad about it, but don’t you dare take the blame for him,” she insisted, and tears rolled down my face.
“Isabel, things will only get worse from now on. They know you’re going to break the curse and fulfil your destiny, and they’ll do everything in their power to stop it,” she commented, and I sighed.
“Open your eyes and stop crying all the time,” she urged, though she looked very angry, and I acknowledged her words.
Yuna has always been bubbly and happy. I never thought I’d see the day she’d get so angry.
“Come to terms with the fact that they won’t change who they are. It’s not your fault this happened to you, but it would be your fault if you let it define you,” she added, and I agreed like a child as we went to take classes together.
HECTOR’S POV
Last night was something else. Hayden and I drove to the restaurant to pick Isabel up from work, only to find her in a state that shocked us. If we hadn’t gotten there in time, Caleb would have killed her and gotten away with it.
Our chances of breaking the curse would have been destroyed. Even the thought of it sends chills down my spine.
“Let’s ask her to move in with us. I can’t stand that Isabel lives with people who don’t love her at all, I proposed, and Hayden looked shocked that I was gradually accepting her.
I have no choice but to accept her because she’s the only one capable of breaking our curse. If she’s gone, I don’t think the Moon Goddess will bestow a second–chance mate upon us
“I understand how you feel It shocked me to my bones, too. The fact that her mom didn’t even join us when we dropped her off proves they want nothing to do with Isabel, Hayden noted, snapping me out of my thoughts as I rubbed my face in
frustration.

“Alpha,” an omega called as he bowed before us.
“What’s going on?” I inquired, noticing beads of sweat on his forehead.

“We have a bad situation at the pack border. Three of our soldiers were found dead,” he revealed, struggling to catch his breath, likely from running.
“What?” Hayden exclaimed, and I mirrored his shock.
This was strange. The Moonstone Pack was known for its tight security at the border. Something like this couldn’t happen without someone instigating it. Maybe we have an inside enemy.
“Leave us alone for a minute, I ordered, and as the omega left, Hayden stood up.
“Someone is trying to send us a message through their deaths. I think it’s related to the curse, he explained, pulling up his sleeve to show me the mark. I raised mine, too, and the mark was visible on my arm.
Writing that no one could interpret.
On the night of every full moon, we endure excruciating pain, and the mark becomes more intense.
Hayden and I left for the border. If losing three soldiers in one day wasn’t bad enough, we wanted to know what caused these sudden deaths.
Welcome, Alpha Hayden and Hector, the pack doctor greeted us, stepping aside to let us in.
What happened to them? I asked calmly.
“I think they were attacked by a strange animal. I’m yet to determine what kind of animal could rip out the hearts of werewolves and leave such a scene. It’s dangerous,” he said, concern laced in his voice.
“Get forensics to dig deeper. Whatever creature did this has declared itself an enemy of the pack,” Hayden angrily, and the doctor nodded.

“What’s wrong, Hector?” he inquired, and I picked up my car keys
“Something’s happened to Isabel,” I informed him, and he cursed under his breath as he got up from his chair and also followed me.
