Chapter 6
ISABEL’S POV
“Good evening Isabel, I heard the voice I could recognize even my dreams, Alpha Hayden. I turned to the other side and I saw Hayden at the door.
Putting air out of my mouth in frustration, I turned to face them both.
“What exactly do you want from me? I thought I made it pretty clear that I don’t want to have anything to do with you!” I snapped angrily.
“So sorry, love, but that is not your decision to make.” Hector declared, tucking his hands into the pocket of his formal pants.
“You cannot keep up with this stubbornness. We understand that this whole bond came as a surprise to you, but ignoring it would only cause more harm than good, Hayden explained, and I chuckled bitterly.
“That’s so smooth, coming from someone who has had the privilege of being a royalty all his life,” I spat.
“Isabell” Hector growled, his voice rising.
“What? You can’t handle the truth? The both of you don’t know what your claim on me would cost me!” I shouted back. alreadly boiling in anger.
“Does this have anything to do with the fact that you are our mate, Isabel Hayden inquired, staring at me intently.
“Don’t you think it’s crazy? I’ve been rejected by all the guys who were supposed to be mine!”
“What am I even saying? If they were mine, they would never have left in the first place. At this point, I just want to be happy.
But this bond with the two of you will take that away from me, I declared, and Hector sighed softly.
and be
- me.
Hayden commented, “I understand your fears. But that’s not enough reason to cut us off.”
“We can start by being friends. You can begin by getting to know us better.” Hayden suggested, and I fell silent.
That didn’t seem like a bad idea, after all. I had nothing to lose, and with the curse on my head, I could only hope for another chance at survival.
Sighing softly. I turned around to get my bag. When I got out, they were still waiting for me at the spot.
“How about we give you a ride to your place?” Hector offered, and I nodded slightly. I could walk down, but it was late, and this whole bond thing had brought me enemies.
The ride to my house was a quiet one. When we got there, I picked up my bag and got out immediately.
“Have a wonderful night’s rest,” I murmured, and they both responded with nods, almost at the same time:
“See you at school tomorrow,” Hector added, and I acknowledged it, knowing full well they were not going to leave me alone.
I made my way into the house and came face to face with my mom. The look on her face told me she had seen what had happened outside.
“Good evening, Mother, I muttered under my breath and tried to walk past her.
“You’re still seeing the princes, she stated like it was an abomination. I turned around and adjusted my bag.
“Why is it that you never listen to us, Isabell Your father and I have told you what your relationship with the princes would cost us, but as always, all you care about is yourself!” she burst out angrily.

I stared at her, too shocked to say another word. The fact that they would stoop to this level to hurt me broke my heart.
“I do not care about myself. If I did, I would have moved into the palace by now,” I whispered, and she walked over to me.
“You will do no such thing, Isabel. Your father and I raised you with love despite the shame and pain you brought to us.”
“All we have ever wanted is for you to get a wolf and at least make us proud. Yet you never did. Up until this moment, all you have done to repay us for bringing you into this world is bring a curse upon your head!” she yelled, and my eyes stung with
Tears.
“Is this all you think of me? An abomination? The daughter who could never make you proud? How is it my fault that I am cursed…. I trailed off, wincing in pain as her palm struck my cheek.
“I am beginning to think your bond with the Alphas is getting into your head. I forbid you from mingling with them,” she declared and stormed towards her room.
This wasn’t the first time she raised her hand at me, but it hurt like the first time. It’s a mother’s duty to love, cherish, and build a child. All mine ever did was push me down and ensure never recovered from it
That evening, I did not come down for dinner with the family. I was avoiding another confrontation with my mother.
I left the house early in the morning. Classes this semester have been crazy. I couldn’t concentrate, from Caleb’s rejection to being the Alpha Princes mate, and let’s not even talk about the stares from fellow students.
“Hey, bestie, Yuna teased as I sat next to her.
Good morning, students. Today we will be talking about… the lecturer began, fixing her glasses as she delved into the topic of the day.
We walked out of class after the session, and Yuna wiggled her eyebrows teasingly.
“What?” I questioned, and she chuckled.
“Yuna,” I called again, but she just smiled.
“They’re walking towards us,” she whispered excitedly.
“Who?” I asked, but I could already feel their presence even before turning around.
Hayden and Hector. Like always, Hector had this bored look in his eyes, as if he were sick of everything.
“Good to see you, Isabel. We were hoping you would have lunch with us,” Hayden invited, and I stared at them, dumbfounded.
“Wait, what?” I stammered, avoiding eye contact. The fact that they were even talking to me was already attracting stares from the students
“Now,” Hector commanded as he walked ahead. He wasn’t hiding the fact that he would rather be mated to someone who fit into their class, maybe someone like Evelyn or Amelia,
“See you in class, Yuna,” I mumbled, finding myself walking with the brothers.
Is he always that grumpy?” I asked Hayden, who chuckled, the look on his face making me smile.
“He’s just putting up a tough front. I believe my brother will come around,” he remarked, gesturing toward their spot at the
cafeteria.
“Oh,” I murmured as Hector pulled a chair out for me to sit. After the grumpy vibes he had been giving, I didn’t expect that, so it caught me off guard.

You know, at some point, you have to get used to the attention that comes with being our mate, right?” Hector questioned, and I sighed.
“I don’t think I will ever get used to it. 1 just want to hide away in my room and read romance novels,” I admitted, and they both looked at me in amusement.
“She reads romance novels, lector remarked, and that was the first time I saw him smile. Maybe they weren’t as bad as I thought.
“Tell me about yourselves, I prompted, and Hayden rubbed the back of his neck.
“You already know everything there is to know about us. We are the Alpha princes, with the responsibility of the park on our shoulders, Hector responded, as he opened the seal of the bottle water.
“That’s not what I meant, sir,” I retorted, and they both chuckled, casing the tension.
“The name is Hector. If you’re going to get used to being our mate, you have to start with first names,” he explained calmly.
Okay, it felt good not having Hector glare daggers at me.
“I know what you’re talking about, but you still haven’t really told me about yourselves. I already know that the two of you run the pack.” I pointed out, and Hayden nodded.
Tm Hector’s twin brother, I’m older than him with a few minutes Hayden said jokingly, and we all laughed.
He continued, this time with a serious expression on his face. “We lost our parents and were raised by our aunt, who is a distant relative.” When he mentioned their parents, I noticed it wasn’t a topic they enjoyed discussing, as Hector looked
away.
We talked about random stuff, and I had a good laugh. Something about the way they said my name made me feel loved and welcomed. For the first time, I didn’t feel like I didn’t belong there.
I went back to class, and throughout the rest of the day, I had the strange sensation that someone was watching me from the shadows. I ignored the feelings as I walked down to my workplace.
“Good afternoon, Grandma Shu,” I greeted the old lady, kissing both sides of her cheek before heading to the kitchen to grab
an apron.
“How was school today? The fact that you’re beaming with smiles is enough reason to say it went well,” she observed, and I nodded.
“The princes are not that bad. They seem to treat me better than any of my mates ever did,” I uttered, and she smiled at me.
“Oh really, that’s beautiful, dear,”
“See why I told you to give it a try? You never know how much happiness lies down the road you fear to walk on,” she added. and I smiled.
“Okay, let’s get to work,” I chimed, humming my favorite hip hop song as I moved about. It wasn’t long before Grandma Shu decided to retire for the day. As I gathered my things to leave, the lights in the restaurant flickered on an off
Did someone break into the restaurant? I wondered as I headed toward the door, only to hear it slam shut.
“Who’s there? Anyone outside?” I asked no one in particular, and my heartbeat pounding wildly in my chest.
I had never been this scared in my life, not even when Mom and Dad beat me with sticks and locked nie in the farmhouse, hoping I would die from starvation. My heart sank at the bitter inemory.

This restaurant was my safest haven, the place where I could be myself without a second thought, and now this was happening.
“Long time no see, mate, came the voice of one person I never thought I would run into again, at least not after what happened at school the other day
“Ca… Caleb… oh my goodness,” I gasped in shock as panic set in
“Yes, it’s me, Isabel, the mate you abandoned because the princes came into your life?” he spat in hatred, and I stared at him in disbelief.
“Caleb, I didn’t abandon you. You wanted a life with my sister, Evelyn. You rejected me without a second thought about what would happen to me…” I tried to make him understand, but it seemed he wasn’t interested.
“That doesn’t give you the right to move on so quickly, Isabel. Hoved you!”
“Yet you stood there and watched them beat the living daylights out of me. I wanted to give you another chance, but it’s interesting to see you walk around like the about to be Luna!”
“What do you think? That a wolfless nobody can become our Luna?” he mocked, and I struggled desperately to get out of the
restaurant.
Caleb. I don’t want any of this. Please let me go…” I pleaded as he took long strides toward me and grabbed me by the neck. “Ca… I gasped for breath, my hands flying to his grip on my neck as tears rolled down from my eyes.
Maybe this was it, the end of everything.
