Chapter 5
HAYDEN’S POV
*She asked us to leave. What does that tell you about that girl? She has a mind of her own and will do anything she wants to do. Hector burst out angrily. He was mail about the fact that she didn’t let us stand up to her parents.
“Isabel has faced rejection all her life. It’s quite obvious with the way they spoke to her tonight,” I replied, and he raised his eyebrows angrily.
“Are you defendling her? You seem to forget that we have a curse on our heads! Hayden, things could go wrong”
“You know what would happen if things aren’t done the way they should be done,” he snapped at me, and I rubbed my forehead.
“I remember the curse, and trust me, we’re both driving at the same point. I just feel like things can be done differently.” I declared, and Hector walked towards the stairs.
“You’re not listening to me. I called out, and he turned in my direction. Tonight has been a long one for me. I believe I need to rest,” he muttered, leaving like he wasn’t standing there in the first place.
Sighing softly, I walked towards the room to get some sleep.
Few minutes later, I heard the twisting sound of my door, and I saw Hector with a letter. “I received a letter from one of the elders of the seven packs. The news of us finding our mate is spreading faster than I imagined it would,” Hector announced as he walked into my room with a letter in his hand, and then passed it to me.
“What does it say?” I inquired, and he gestured towards the letter
“We have heard the good news… the letter began, but each word that followed just infuriated me. What the hell is wrong with everyone? Why are they hell bent on pushing Isabel away from her position as our Luna?
“They don’t want Isabel as the Luna of the pack. We should know better than to try to bring her into this aspect of our lives
“We already have the elders trying to have us step down from our position as pack Alpha
reason to find quick solutions,” Hector grumbled as he paced around my room.
The curse on our heads is enough
I began. “That girl is being bullied by the people she calls her family. Her mates before us have plainly rejected her like she’s not worth it at all.”
“I’m not trying to sound like I’m on her side. I just think we should try to have her back like we agreed to, beside she is our mate. If we reject her, what do you think might happen to us?” I pointed out, and he stared at me calmly
“And what happens after we break the curse?” he questioned calmly.
“We’ll cross that bridge when we get there. I thought we had classes to attend?” I responded, and he nodded.
When we arrived at school, I noticed the students staring in our direction as they whispered among themselves, definitely talking about our announcement about Isabel being our mate.
We made our way into the classroom and everywhere suddenly fell silent before the students began confersing among themselves.
“Alpha Hector, Alpha Hayden, good to see you again,” Evelyn greeted as she tucked a strand of her hair behind her e
car.
“I thought we made it quite clear during our last conversation that we don’t want you talking to us?” Hector responded, too irritated by her presence to endure another second.

Chapter 3
“Is it because of Isabel?” she asked in disbelief.
She commented, “My parents and I are only trying to save both of you from any potential damage. Our sister is not even
worth it.”
“It’s only a matter of time before she dies from the curse on her head. If you guys don’t listen to our warnings, you might end up getting the pack in a whole lot of trouble,” she explained. When we didn’t say anything, she sighed in frustration.
“Are you really going to make Isabel Luna over a pack as great as the Moonstone Pack?” she questioned. When we didn’t counter her claims, we just acted like she wasn’t in front of us, she eventually walked off angrily, too bitter to spend another second.
“We need to do something about those girls appearing in front of us like that. They irritate me,” Hector commented, and I chuckled.
I noticed he got quiet after some time, and my eyes moved over to him. Hector might seem like the bad guy between the both of us, but he’s only looking out for us.
“What’s on your mind?” I inquired, and he drummed his fingers on the table in front of us.
“It’s about the curse. If it gets to the full moon, we both know what’s going to happen again, he murmured, and I fell silent. Talking about the curse just reminds me of the level of betrayal we’ve gone through while trying to survive with this curse.
ISABEL’S POV
You mean they came to your house?” Yuna gasped as we walked through the hallway together. She clutched her book close to her chest.
“Yes, and my parents told them straight to their faces why they needed to choose Amelia and Evelyn instead of me.”
“In their words, they would make a better Luna for the pack than a wolfless daughter who has brought nothing but shame and disgrace to them,” I recounted, and she gasped.
“That’s unfair!”
“I can’t believe they would stoop so low to try to ruin your chance at a better life…. Yuna uttered with a concerned expression on her face.
“After what they’ve done to me, I don’t think I’ll be surprised at whatever they have coming next,” I remarked, and she stared at me with pity in her eyes.
“You know you can always trust me, right? I feel like confronting Evelyn and she murmured calmly.
“Don’t do it. I don’t want you to get involved in things that could get you in trouble. I’ve been dealing with whatever comes my way,” I responded, and she sighed softly.
“It’s unfair. They know what would happen to you if you don’t break the curse on your head, and it’s quite obvious they want you dead. The question is why?” she asked, and that got me thinking.
Isabel, they’re your family; they can’t do that to you, I thought, as I tried to think of a million reasons why I shouldn’t make excuses for them.
She muttered, “I want you to be very careful, Isabel. With everything that has happened, they’re just going to try to show you how bitter they are about the whole situation.”
“I do not approve of you sending the Alphas out of your house, though, she remarked, and I bit my bottom lip as I thought
about it too.

Chapter 5
“Yuna, I have been rejected ipo many times. The last one was Caleb, and that was the last time I thought of trusting anyone else. This new mate bond between me and the Alpha’s brothers feels too good to be true,” I explained, and she stared at me in shock.
“You feel like you don’t deserve the mate bond from the Moon Goddess?” she asked curiously.
“She should have considered giving me a wolf instead of mates can’t even handle. I don’t appreciate it anyway. I commented, and she sighed sadly.
I pray all of this ends well and you find true happiness. I am willing to give you the respect you deserve as the true Luna of the Moonstone Pack, she expressed, and I chuckled at her words
There’s no way the members of the pack would let me take the position as their Luna. Not when there are other girls in the pack with enough potential to fill in for me,
I won’t be surprised if the brothers realize their mistake and decide to reject me.
After Y
Yuna left, I prepared to leave since it was already nearing closing time.
The locals of the pack were busy with pack duties, while children ran around in numbers. There was this restaurant where I worked after classes, at least to pay my bills
Mom and Dad stopped buying me things after I didn’t shift, and the fact that I faced rejection from my mates was another reason for them to treat me like a complete outcast.
“Welcome, Isabel. You’re late, the older lady greeted as she tied an apron around her waist.
Grandma Shu is not just a normal werewolf lady; somehow, she’s one of the few people who respect me for who I am and even offered me a job when I needed it the most,
They call her the pack weirdo too. Unlike me, who has never shifted, she found herself mated to a human, which made the pack members think she was cursed by the Moon Goddess. Why else would she be mated to a human?
According to the story I heard, the human ruined things for her because, out of greed, the man tried to expose the secrets of the werewolf clan and was brutally killed by the pack members. Grandma Shu ran mad for a long time before she regained herself.
Some people say she’s one of the oldest members of the pack now and knows a lot about the pack. Some think she involves herself in shady business that has kept her relevant in the pack.
I think the older lady is just reserved. To keep your sanity in this pack, you just have to keep your thoughts to yourself.
“I had classes today and had to stay for a while,” I replied, and she dropped a basket in front of me.
“I heard what happened with the Alphas,” she remarked, and I didn’t know how to react to the fact that it was no longer news, even to people like Grandma Shu
I’ll advise you to get ready for the backlash that comes with defying the members of the pack.” She advised.
“One thing I’ve noticed about them over the years is the fact that they don’t tolerate disrespect, she explained, and I nodded.
“Grandina Shu, I don’t think I want to accept the mate bond,” I admitted as I tied an apron around my waist.
“Why?” she inquired curiously,
“Whatever the reason might be, you have to decide sooner. I can tell you this: the end is going to impact the future of this

pack.”
“As the curse draws closer, the people of this pack won’t hesitate to pick a sidle, and when that happens, it’s either you’re with the people or against them,” she warned as she passed a basket to ine.
“Whatever you decide to do in the end, you have my support, Ishel. I just want you to be happy” she uttered, and my heart spread with warmth and 1 went ahead to dive into my shift.
Grandma Shu’s restaurant is not always busy, because people do not support her and what she does. It’s one of the places where I don’t get bullied and maltreated.
Grandma shut left after asking me to make sure everything was kept properly and the place was locked after I was done for the day.
I served dishes to the few customers remaining and went ahead to make accounts for the day.
Throughout the time that I cleaned up the place, I could feel the eyes of someone digging holes into me, I turned around but there was no one in sight.
Frowning, I brought out the trash and disposed it in the trash can outside. Then turned only to bump into someone which made me scream loudly in fear.
