Chapter 65
I could only think of her false and innocent face.
“Agnrs. Her name left my mouth bitterly.
She’d been the one behind all this. This was all a set up by her. From Tina appearing at the company to Froste being my client and me being set up to meet him. It hadn’t been random.
All of it had been planned by her. My fists trembled by my side. She’d sent me an invitation to join her company all as part of her plan. I should have known better.
“We really didn’t mean to cause any damage.” Zeya continued, trying to do some sort of damage control.
“Well you did,” I glared at them. “You’ve both said enough to ruin my image in front of him.”
They turned to Froste who was watching them with a cold disdain in his eyes. The look he had on was enough to make anybody cower in fear. If I didn’t know him personally, I might
have done the same.
“Too bad for the both of you, I’ve already known him before all this bullshit of yours.”
It was all ironic the more I thought about it. Agnrs had set this all up to try and ruin me, to break me down before I headed to the Academy.
I didn’t know what she stood to gain by doing this or what her motives were but it didn’t make me any less angry than I was:
“I think I’ve had enough of this.” Froste let out a breath. He nodded at Jake.
Jake took out his phone and placed a call to the police. Zeya and Loraine both got on their knees before me, begging me to forgive them and that it won’t repeat itself again.
I pretended I couldn’t hear them, staring at the group of reporters still huddled outside the door. I would have to deal with them as well.
“The police should be here soon.” Jake put his phone back into his pocket.

“No,” Zeya shook her head, tears still pouring down her face, “Please forgive us. We’ll disappear. You’ll never have to see us again, just please.”
I let out a breath, refusing to meet their eyes. All I could focus on was the anger boiling underneath my skin.
The noise at the front of the café drew my attention briefly. The police were pushing through the crowd of reporters and making their way in.
Just when I was about to turn away, I could make out the uniform of the royal guards. They’d pushed through the reporters as well to make a path for someone else.
Askhan.
He walked into the room with the gait of a man with a mission. His eyes scoured the room until they landed on me.
“Adella,” he said breathlessly, “I heard you were being harassed. What the hell is going on?”
I pointed at the two sisters who were being pushed away from me by Jack. Askhan’s eyes narrowed on them.
”
Without a word, he gestured for the guards and pointed at the two of them. They nodded, and immediately grabbed Zeya and Loraine.
I should have felt a bit of sadness watching the guards beat them without mercy. There was nothing there.
They’d deserved every bit of it. Blood was dropping out of their mouths as they continued to groan in pain.
“Take them away.” Askhan ordered.
The guards whisked them out of the café. Despite all that had happened, all I could think of was the woman behind all this.
Agners had done all this out of some spite she held for me deep down. She’d managed to conceal her intentions and played the role of a friendly employer all so she could lure me here and humiliate me.

I was enraged. Askhan was watching me carefully, I could tell there were a lot of things he
wanted to say.
As if things couldn’t possibly get worse, the reporters decided they’d been standing outside. long enough and flocked in. Their questions were drowned out into a pool of noise that felt grating to my ears.
Just when it was all becoming too much, Askhan pulled me closer to him. His eyes were set firmly as he regarded the reporters.
“It was all a set up. None of what those women said was true. Do not propagate slander all in the name of looking for a good story to sell.”
They looked pretty disappointed by what he had said but they didn’t look like they’d add anything else. It didn’t take long before they began to disperse.
I was still trying to reel in my anger when Froste came over to me. His eyes were fixed on mine, trying to read what thoughts I was having.
“What’s bothering you?” he asked. “Is it something I can help with?”
“She doesn’t need your help.” Askhan replied curtly.
