Chapter 139
“This is entirely the Langley family’s fault that we underestimated you! We were prideful and blind…” Margot said solemnly. “Please forgive us, My Liege!”
At this point, Margot could do nothing but admit her mistakes.
With a word, the King of Hades could wipe the Langley family from the face of the earth without so much as a noise.
Dustin did not bother to respond.
“Fine. Invite Simone and her family here immediately. I think you know what to do now, right?” he said coldly.
“Yes, I do. I won’t let you down, My Liege!” Margot said quickly.
She sent someone to invite Simone and her family here.
Soon, Simone’s family arrived in the living room. They looked a little stunned.
By that time, the members of the Panther Gang were all gone and the place had been cleaned up. It was as if nothing had happened here.
“What happened to you?” Simone looked confused. She saw how strangely the members of the Langley family were behaving.
“Uncle Derek, why are you trembling?” She glanced at Derek.
“I–I’m just a little … cold,” Derek said as he wiped sweat off his forehead.
Simone looked confused.
It was the height of summer and the air conditioning in the living room was not even on. How could he possibly feel cold?
“Mother, is there something you need?” David asked Margot with a polite tilt of the head.
“Ah, David. I’ve made a decision…” she said solemnly. “Today, I’m passing on the position of the head of the family to you!”
“What?!”
Simone and her family thought they had heard Margot wrong.
This was not the kind of thing that Margot would ever do. She had held control over the Langley family for many years. There was no way she would give up that power so easily.
Was this some sort of test?
As Simone’s family thought about it, they did not know how to respond.
“Mother, I don’t think I’m qualified enough to take on that role.” Although David secretly desired the position, he thought that it was best to turn the offer down. He did not dare to accept it.
“You’re the only one in the family who can do it! Only you can be the head of the family! If you don’t take on this role, the Langley family will face too many threats!” Margot said in agitation.
Her words shocked Simone’s family.
Margot had always been strict and composed. She had never once lost her cool like this before.

“Mother, did something happen?” David asked.

Margot was almost pleading for David to accept the role.
Yet, the more she acted like that, the more suspicious Simone’s family felt. David felt even more scared than before to accept the offer.
“Do you really want the whole family to get on their knees and beg you?” Margot was anxious. She lifted the hem of her skirt and prepared to kneel.
This shocked Simone’s family even more, and they rushed forward to hold her upright.
“David, just agree to it!”
“You’re the best candidate to be the head of the Langley family. You deserve the role!”
The other members of the Langley family tried to talk David into it.
Simone found their behavior very unusual.
Why had the family changed their minds so drastically and so suddenly?
“Alright, then. I’ll accept the role as head of the Langley family!” David finally accepted their request.
- The members of the Langley family let out a collective sigh of relief. If David had not accepted the role, they would have really fallen to their knees to beg him.
From a shadowy corner, Dustin silently watched all this play out. When he saw David accept the role, he finally left.
Simone’s family would be safe for the moment.
As for himself, he was going to start his quest for vengeance!
