Chapter 8
On the first day, when Isabella sent a photo of Jonathan peeling shrimp for her, Anna prepared a brazier and burned every photo she had with Jonathan.
On the second day, when Isabella sent a photo of Jonathan kissing her under a sycamore tree, Anna had workers come to the villa’s backyard and tear down the cherry tree that Jonathan had personally planted.
On the third day, when Isabella sent a collection of Jonathan’s confession quotes from her live stream, Anna took out the hundreds of love letters Jonathan had written her in the past.
The letters had yellowed with time, but the handwriting was still clear.
She ran her fingers over the words, then, without a shred of pity, she fed them one by one into the shredder.
On the morning of the day she was leaving.
Anna had just opened her eyes when she saw Jonathan, who had been absent for a long time, standing by her bed.
He held her phone in his hand. When he saw she had woken up, his expression darkened slightly.
“Anna, I just got a message on your phone saying your account has been successfully canceled. What were you canceling?”
Anna’s heart skipped a beat.
She quickly grabbed her phone and unlocked the screen.
It was a message confirming the cancellation of her identity.
Luckily, her phone was password–protected, and Jonathan had only seen a few words on the
screen.
Anna sighed with relief and casually said, “It’s nothing. One of my social media accounts was hacked, so I deactivated it for safety.”
Jonathan seemed to relax upon hearing this. He pulled her into his arms, smiling gently.” Honey. Guess what I bought for you to eat?”

Anna paused for a moment before answering softly, “The little cakes from the east side of the city.”
“How did you know?” Jonathan asked, his eyes filled with surprise.
Chapter 8
How could she not know?
Back when they were dating, whenever Jonathan made her angry, he would run all the way to the east side of the city to buy those little cakes as an apology.
The sweet scent would immediately soften her heart.
She didn’t care about jewelry or luxury cars, just that taste.
At that time, he had laughed and said, “My Anna is too easy to please.”
She would poke his forehead lightly, a few taps, and say, “It’s not that I’m easy to please. I still love you, so I’ll forgive you no matter what you do.”
“And if one day I don’t love you anymore, even if you kill yourself in front of me, it won’t
matter.
As those memories drifted away, Jonathan pulled out a box containing the little cakes and smiled affectionately. “As expected, I can never hide anything from you.”
At his words, Anna smiled and replied, “Yes, you can’t hide anything from me.”
For some reason, Jonathan’s heart skipped a beat, and he murmured, “Anna…”
Anna didn’t respond. She got out of bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up.
When she came out, she saw Jonathan hastily leaving the house.
She remained silent for two seconds before following him out.
However, as she reached the door, she froze when she saw Isabella standing not far away.
Was she so bold now that she had found her way into the villa?
It wasn’t just Anna who was surprised; Jonathan was clearly more shaken.
He quickly walked over to Isabella, his face dark, grabbing her hand. “Have you lost your mind? Why are you here? I told you, when Anna is around, you’re not allowed to show up!”
Upon hearing him shout, Isabella trembled, her eyes turning red with grievance. She reached for his clothes, pouting, “I can’t be away from you for a second! And neither can the baby.”
As she spoke, she grabbed his hand and placed it on her small belly.
Jonathan coldly pulled his hand back. “Stop messing around. I’ll have my assistant take you home. In a few days, I’ll come and spend time with you and the baby.”
But Isabella refused to leave. She grabbed his hand, acting spoiled, “No, I don’t want to go with the assistant. I want you to stay with me!”
She stood on tiptoe, pulling at Jonathan’s tie and trying to kiss him.
Jonathan furrowed his brows, about to push her away, but after a few seconds of her

insistence, he suddenly pulled her into a tight kiss.
They stood there in the garden, the kiss deepening.
When his fingers slipped under her clothes, it was clear things were about to escalate. He quickly pulled back, shoving her away. “You need to leave.”
Isabella, eyes glistening with tears, leaned against him, whispering something in his ear.
Jonathan’s expression shifted slightly.
Finally, he sighed. “Okay, I’ll stay with you today. Get in the car, I’ll come over later.”
Isabella beamed, satisfied, and caressed her belly as she got into the car.
As Jonathan turned to leave, Anna suddenly turned away.
A short while later, Jonathan entered the house, the first words out of his mouth being:
“Anna, I wanted to spend the day with you, but I just got a call from work. There’s an urgent issue, I have to go out. You stay home and wait for me. Once I’m done, I’ll stay with you for the rest of the day, okay?”
He anxiously awaited her response, but Anna only looked up at him once.
That one look stopped him in his tracks.
When had it happened? When had Anna’s eyes lost their light?
His throat tightened as he subconsciously whispered her name. “Anna…”
Before he could say anything more, Anna spoke up. She smiled faintly, her voice soft, “Go ahead. You do your work.”
Her tone was as gentle as always, with no trace of abnormality.
Finally, Jonathan relaxed. He no longer thought about it, ran his fingers through her hair, and turned to leave.
Soon, the sound of the car’s engine roared outside, then grew fainter, eventually disappearing
entirely.
Anna’s smile faded completely. Two lines of tears traced down her face.
She quietly wiped them away, then threw the little cakes from the table into the trash. Afterward, she entered her room, took out the suitcase she had already packed, and gave the house one last look.
She then sent Jonathan her final message:
“It’s been half a month. You can see the wedding anniversary gift I gave you now.”
The reply came almost instantly.

“Honey, I’ll be back soon, and we’ll look at it together.”
Anna smiled.
“Together?”
Jonathan, it’s only you.
From now on, it will only be you.
She forwarded all the messages Isabella had sent her to Jonathan, then without hesitation, broke her phone card into pieces.
Finally, she grabbed her suitcase and left the house.
Outside, the morning sun was bright, the time of day full of promise.
From now on, no one would find Anna–no one.
