Chapter 10
Zachary let out a hearty laugh. He encircled Lucy’s waist and pinched her buttcheek. “You seductive little devil. No wonder Jonah was so into you.”
Jonah finally got up from the ground. His gaze darkened as he looked at the couple’s retreating figures.
My words continued to linger in his head. “Once you’ve lost everything, you’ll finally see who wanted to see you thrive and who was just waiting for you to fall.”
“I understand now, Chelsea. It’s all my fault. Could you please come back to me?” he muttered.
The night wind cut through the air as Jonah climbed into a villa under the cover of darkness. Inside, the muffled moans of a man and woman drifted through the walls.
Rope in hand, Jonah moved silently toward the man. Without warning, he slipped it around his neck and gave a sharp tug.
“Shit! Help!” Lucy screamed profusely.
Zachary’s face had turned purple from lack of oxygen. “Help… me…”

He kept reaching out to Lucy, hoping she would lend a helping hand. However, she simply stared at him until he could no longer utter a word.
With eyes like saucers, he took his final breath.
Jonah flung Zachary’s corpse to the side and stepped onto his head. “I told you to sleep with Chelsea, but I didn’t tell you to humiliate her. You deserve death!”
Faced with a psychotic Jonah, Lucy quietly shifted away from him, intending to climb outside. However, he didn’t waste a second before he yanked her hair and dragged her beside Zachary’s body.
“Isn’t hanging onto men your specialty? Go on then–show me your talent and finish what you started!”
She knelt to the ground and pleaded, “I’m sorry, Joe. Would you please forgive me this time? I promise I’ll stay obediently by your side from now on!”
A crisp slap rang out in the room. Jonah had slapped Lucy across the face.
“Stay by my side? You’re just a woman who has run through all the men in the city!”
Ignoring the pain from her swollen cheek, she held onto his hand. “I was forced, Joe. You know I’m just a weak and vulnerable woman. What could I even do on my own? When you were detained, Zachary forced me to be with him. I had no choice but to obey him!”
She sobbed as though she had suffered some great grievances.
But Jonah started choking her, his bloodshot eyes reminiscent of a devil incarnate.
“Do you think I’ll still believe you? Without your influence, I wouldn’t be here today. If it weren’t for you, Chelsea and I wouldn’t have divorced, and I wouldn’t have lost her and the baby!” Lucy tightened her grip on his hand. “That was my baby, too! As his mother, I grieved harder than anyone else! Jonah, if you could just let me go, I promise I’ll give you another child, okay?” With one hand around her neck, Jonah swung his palm against her face again with the other. “A bitch like you doesn’t deserve to bear my child. You’re nothing compared to Chelsea.” She gazed into his terrifying eyes, the fear in her own growing more intense with each passing moment. “Did you think you were a saint or something, Jonah? You got to where you are today because of your very own actions!”
He tensed for a moment, and the chokehold on her slackened just enough. Seizing the chance, she attempted to break free.
“You’re the most hypocritical out of everyone. Had you not proposed to use Chelsea as a surrogate, none of this would’ve happened today.”
