“W–With no one.” She could feel the air of masculinity surrounding her, suffocating her. Her mind was in chaos, and her heart was thumping furiously.
Conrad felt her chest heave, and the skin of her breasts was touching him, flaring his desire further. “Are you sure?” You’re almost buck naked, and you made me mad by bringing Christopher up. You did all this just so you could be my lover, right?
Angela was starting to feel uncomfortable. The scalding heat from his skin was touching her, burning her up. “I’m pregnant now, you know. Still haven’t passed the first three months,” she said, her voice a whisper.
Just like that, his desire was doused, and he finally snapped out of it. He pushed himself up with one hand and stood up, the look in his eyes icy. “You know what? Sometimes, you’re too smart for your own good.”
The woman shook her head in confusion. “I’m not smart. I’m actually quite silly.”
“Is that so?” He cocked his eyebrow in amusement; it was as if he’d just heard the world’s greatest joke. You’re full of schemes, ploys, and tricks. You’re anything but stupid. This is merely an act of yours. “None of your tricks will work on me, so I suggest you give up.”
After leaving that message, he strode off. He would not be interested in a scheming wench like her.
Angela curled up and thought to herself, But I did nothing. Why does he think so badly of me? Maybe getting pregnant with his kid is my biggest mistake. I’m not the kind of mother he wants for his children, so he finds fault with me.
Conrad went back into his car, still furious and looking dark. Kevin turned around and looked at him. Conrad usually would never show his emotions, so this was the first time he saw his employer looking angry. “Sir, are you worried that Miss Banner might have an affair with-”
An icy look was shot his way, shutting Kevin up. “I have nothing to worry about.”
Kevin heaved a sigh in silence. You might be a god in business, but you’re a noob in relationships. Mr. Christopher, however, is a veteran. “Mr. Christopher has been in many relationships. He has his own rules about courting and abandoning women. He wouldn’t let any woman get in his way through life. I don’t think he’s come across any woman he can’t handle yet. Miss Banner is inexperienced in love as well, and she idealizes it. All he has to do is play a little trick, and she’ll fall for him.”
Conrad’s mind blanked out for a minute. He was then reminded of what Angela had told him. She said she had someone she liked and would never fall for someone else anymore. He

After a nap, Angela felt refreshed, so she got up and dressed herself up. She wanted to go to Muse Club and gain some experience. She picked a retro Graeca dress and changed into it, her hair tumbling down her shoulders.
However, just when she got to the elevator, a certain man stopped her. “Mr. Heathcliff? Fancy seeing you here. It’s the weekend. Shouldn’t you be with your fiancée?”
Conrad stared at her for a moment. The white dress accentuated her beauty, and she looked like the goddess of love herself. “Where are you going?”
“Muse Club. They have a party today,” she whispered.
The man frowned at that. Of course, he knew about it since he had overheard the conversation, or he wouldn’t even be here today. “I told you to stay home during your days off. Are you not listening to me?”
The air got chilly, and Angela shivered. “Muse Club has a ton of famous artists and designers. This is a rare chance for me to-”
“You’re not going.” He lifted her in a bridal carry and turned around without asking for approval.
Shocked, Angela froze in his arms.
