Chapter 152
Vivian looked at Darren with a trembling gaze. In the dim light of the evening, the man seemed to be surrounded by a cold, misty aura. The light from his phone screen cast shadows on his face, revealing his indifferent and aloof expression. He kept his eyes lowered, not looking at her, but spoke directly to her, “Do you know why I came here today?”
Vivian couldn’t help but straighten her back. Under the intense pressure of his aura, her palms were sweating profusely, and her head felt heavy and dizzy.
She didn’t dare to move, stammering, “I don’t know.”
She tried to force a smile to ease the tense atmosphere. But at that moment, Darren suddenly lifted his gaze. His eyes held a thin layer of malice and mockery, like someone had struck her on the top of her head, making her whole body go numb.
Her expression stiffened, and she froze in place, her gaze meeting his. He smiled coldly, “Then take a guess.” Darren said.
“I…” Vivian opened her mouth, but as soon as she met his eyes, she quickly looked away. “I…”
In truth, she had always been afraid of Darren. Over the years, while she bore the title of his girlfriend, he had been relatively considerate of her in public, even in front of his friends. That illusion of tenderness had made her deeply entrenched in their relationship, blinded by it. But whenever they were alone, he would always be like this–arrogant, aloof, and indifferent. It made her feel both unfamiliar and fearful.
He was like a perfect actor, flawlessly portraying both love and indifference. Sometimes, she couldn’t even tell if he was genuinely feeling anything.
Vivian pulled herself out of her chaotic thoughts and stared at his shoes, speaking in a low voice, “I don’t know, Darren. I…”
“Hmm?” Darren raised an eyebrow, interrupting her. “What did you call me?”
Vivian awkwardly corrected herself, “Mr. Luther.”
He let out a mocking laugh. “Don’t you know what you’ve done?”
Vivian’s heart skipped a beat. Could it be that he had found out she was behind the smear campaign against Natalie? No, that couldn’t be. Hannah had assured her that everything was taken care of. She trusted her, but she had forgotten that Hannah worked for Prosperity Entertainment, which was owned by Darren.
She steeled herself and feigned ignorance. “I’ve been participating in the dating show recently and just got back today. I don’t know what you’re talking about, Mr. Luther.”
Darren clicked his tongue, lifting his foot slightly, forcing her to look up. Then she saw a woman walking out from behind the bodyguards–her agent, Hannah. Vivian’s expression immediately changed.
Hannah bowed respectfully to Darren and, right in front of her, spilled everything. “Mr. Luther, three days ago, Ms. Zavala told me she had some big news for me to leak. The big news she referred to was that Ms. Xavier was the mistress in a relationship…”
“I never said that!” Vivian felt a chill run down her spine.
After the initial shock, a wave of furious anger and unprecedented clarity washed over her. She was enraged that Hannah had betrayed her so quickly and wanted to rush forward and tear her mouth apart. But with a clear and rational mind, she realized that if she firmly denied everything, she might still have a chance to save herself.
“Hannah! Why are you doing this to me? I never said that! None of those things you mentioned were done by me!” She exclaimed, on the verge of tears.
She knew which expression would make her look the most pitiful, so she deliberately held back her tears and bit her lower

lip, looking at the man in front of her with a mix of reproach and resentment. “Mr. Luther, I’m being framed! I really didn’t
do it!
Only then did Darren put away his phone. He stood up and took two steps forward, leaning down to look at her from above. A powerful, oppressive aura washed over her.
Vivian forgot about crying and only repeated in a low voice, “M–Mr. Luther. I didn’t do it”
“Shh.” He raised a long finger to his lips and slowly shook it. “Lying to me comes with a price.”
His eyes seemed to have knives in them, making Vivian’s heart race with fear. She couldn’t tell how much of what he said was true, but she didn’t dare to speak, afraid that saying more would only make things worse. So, she just pressed her lips together, looking at him helplessly and nervously, her neck hunched.
“If you do something wrong, you have to face the consequences. Hannah, what resources does she currently have?”
Hannah immediately replied, “Since you broke up with Vivian, she hasn’t signed any new contracts this month. She currently has three variety shows, one TV drama, one movie, and four magazine shoots.”
“Cancel all of them,” Darren said, straightening up and putting one hand in his pocket. “Promote someone else instead.”
Darren’s light and casual tone was as if he were discussing the weather, as if he weren’t deciding Vivian’s future and her entire life!
Vivian felt like she had been struck by lightning. After a moment of shock, she immediately grabbed his pant leg and pleaded, “Mr. Luther! You can’t do this to me! I was possessed by jealousy; I lost my mind for a moment. I was jealous of you and Natalie being partners, so I did this. You’re the one who made me who I am today; you can’t destroy me!*
“I’m your savior! If it weren’t for me taking care of you back then, would you even be where you are today?*
Darren let out a derisive laugh. “What kind of savior are you?”
“I…” Vivian was at a loss for words.
Over the past five years, she had gotten so used to saying this lie that even she had started to believe she was the one who saved him back then.
Darren placed his hand on her head and gave it a light pat. “Even if I don’t acknowledge your so–called kindness, what can you do about it?”
Vivian looked at him in disbelief. Yes, what could she do if he didn’t acknowledge it? For the past five years, she had been using that supposed act of saving his life to demand things from him, even going so far as to demand his marriage.
She had thought she held the upper hand in their relationship, able to do whatever she wanted, whenever she wanted. Only now did she realize that all of this was based on his tacit approval. And he had given that approval because of her lies. Now that the lies were exposed, why would he continue to indulge her?
Vivian felt like she couldn’t breathe, as if she could see a dark and rocky future ahead. Entering the entertainment industry without his protection was one thing, but now she was going to lose all her upcoming collaborations as well!
Tears streamed down her face as Vivian sobbed, “Mr. Luther, please, don’t do this to me! Don’t destroy me!”
“I warned you before,” Darren said, his voice devoid of emotion. “But rest assured, I still have use for you, so I won’t destroy you right now. But if you continue to cause trouble like this, my patience will run out.”
He withdrew his hand from her head, and Tony immediately handed him a wet wipe. Darren methodically cleaned each of his fingers, then gently tossed the wet wipe into her hand.
He looked down at her and spoke in a cool, dismissive tone, as if giving an order or expressing disdain, “Throw it away.”

With that, Darren left with his entourage of bodyguards, disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Vivian looked around at the darkened surroundings, feeling the cold dampness in her palm, and shivered violently. She thought about what Darren had said. ‘He claimed he still had use for me, but what use could I be to him now? And when I was no longer useful, would he destroy me? How would he do it Vivian thought.
Vivian suddenly realized something and stared at the wet wipe in her hand, lost in thought. At that moment, she felt like the was just like that wet wipe.
