Chapter 40
Soren was sitting on the couch with one arm draped casually over the backrest. He was garing at Tara with that dangerously charming look of his. In his eyes was a glint of something that could only be described as desire.
Tara didn’t notice the danger hidden in his gaze. She had always been relatively relaxed around Soren. Maybe it was because he was never serious, but she hadn’t built up much of a guard with him.
She moved lightly, quickly setting the lunch out on the dining table.
Soren’s suite was on a completely different level compared to her room. His included a study, a living room, and a bedroom. It was luxurious in every way
The other members‘ rooms were most likely similar to Soren’s.
“Mr. Farrell, please enjoy your meal.”
After saying that, Tara pushed the cart and left his room.
Soren, who was still seated on the couch, remained silent. His usual laziness was gone. He was now wearing a dark and unreadable expression, as though something was weighing on his mind
Tara stood at Shawn’s door and knocked a few times. Not long after, the door opened.
Shawn glanced at her, then at the food cant. “Come in ”
lly was something
Tara nodded and pushed the cact into the room. Just as she’d expected, Shawn’s suite had the same layout as Soren’s. The life of the wealthy really was
In just a short time, she’d placed the lunch on the table. As before, she told him to enjoy the meal.
When she was about to leave, Shawn called out to her. Tara thought he was going to assign her more tasks.
“Mr. Wilhelm, do you need anything else?
Save nay number,” he said.
Tara froze, Terence had made it clear that staff weren’t allowed to privately exchange contact information with the members. There were no exceptions
“Mr. Wilhelm, that’s against the rules. As a domestic worker, I’m not allowed to take your number. If I’m found out, my pay will be docked–or worse, I could be fired and have to pay a penalty for breaching the contract.”
She wasn’t afraid of getting fired; she feared the penalty as she couldn’t afford to pay it
Shawn seemed to overlook the staff rules. He paused, then walked into the bedroom and came back with a phone. He handed it to Tara in the living room.
“My mistake. This phone has my contact info, If anything happens, get in touch with me right away. The password is 123456.”
Tara hesitated, unsure if she should accept it. After all, his gesture came from kindness.
Shawn picked up on her unease. He didn’t seem intent on breaking any rules.
“If you’re worried misunderstandings might happen, just give it back before you rethm home,” he added.
Only then did Tara accept the phone. She felt unexpectedly touched by his thoughtfulnaşa,
“Thank you,
Mr. Wilhelm.”
Shawn smiled gently. “Go ahead. I won’t keep you here,”
Tara’s soll eyes curved with a smile as she nodded at lilin. There was a slight shift in the way she viewed him
Up until now, her impression of shawn had matched how he was described in the novel–calin and courteous on the surface, but cold and indifferent underneath.
It turned out shari
misjudged in. For him to treat a lowly housekeeper this way meant he was upright and kind at heart.
Tara’s accepting the phone was also out of practical concerns. If anything like what happened the last time were to occur again–being forgotten in some random location—having Shawn’s contact information would be far more useful than relying on Grimms of Tetence, who were back home.
She gently closed Shawn’s door and pushed the cart toward the elevator
Tara left the can beside the elevator. She’d have to come back later to collect the dishes from Soren and Shawn’s rooms.
At that moment, another food catt was already parked by the elevator
Tata was about to go downstain and petum in an hour when a magnetic voice came from the right hallway. “Tara, clear the tableware.”
Tara inmediately stopped herself from stepping into the elevator. She looked around and didn’t see Stella, so she pushed the cart toward Jonah’s ROI.
jouah’s daily routine was Stella’s responsibility, Jonah didn’t like Tana, he didn’t even want to see her.
Tarahad always known that, which was why she tried to avoid missing patha with him.
But she had no way to refuse now. She couldn’t exactly say, “Stella’s not here, and I’m in charge of your tableware.”
Division of labor among staff was their own issue. Terence had made it clear that they must not affect the members‘ mands. thaless it involved stepping out of line, dary were expected to meet the members reasonable daily needs.
Tara pushed the cast into jonali’s suite and began cleaning the dishes on the table.
i
Jonah stood by the window, paised and distant. The window was open. He clearly didn’t like the lingering smell of food In the mom
Tara quickly glanced at his back and thought, “As expected from the cleanest of the lot. Just having food set in the suite’s living room might already be the most he’s willing to endure.”
