Cynthia was a bit surprised by his words. She turned her head slightly and said, “Jonathan, there’s a five–year age gap between us, you know.”
Jonathan gave a small nod, “And?”
“So, you were a virgin until you were twenty–five?” Cynthia teased, looking Jonathan straight in the eye with a playful glint.
Jonathan’s cars turned red, and there was a hint of annoyance in his eyes. Yet, he gritted his teeth and said in a low voice, “Absolutely true.”
Cynthia suddenly burst out laughing as she lay on the bed. Her hair splayed freely. She laughed so hard she shook with mirth.
“Don’t laugh at me,” Jonathan said as he playfully nibbled at Cynthia’s neck.
Cynthia sobered up and held Jonathan’s face, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. She said, “I’m sorry, I couldn’t give you my first time.”
Lilian was gone. Cynthia would never know the secret. Jonathan also knew that Lilian orchestrated Cynthia’s first time. It was a lifelong pain for Cynthia.
Jonathan suddenly felt a bit of regret. He intended to cheer Cynthia up but ended up reminding her of the past instead. He rolled over and pulled Cynthia tightly into his arms.
Jonathan said, “It’s not important, not at all. What matters is that you’re here with me–that’s the greatest gift from above.” The next day, when Cynthia woke up, Jonathan was already up. Cynthia got up and saw Jonathan in the dining room. Jonathan was having breakfast while reading the news on his tablet. A financial update was being broadcast.
The news said, “Ms. Bennett of the Bennett Group got caught in a media storm. As her publicly traded company, Betrico Multimedia, saw its stock hit the limit down at opening, losing billions in market value in a day.”
Cynthia walked over. Jonathan heard her footsteps and closed the tablet. He turned around and asked, “Why aren’t you sleeping a bit more?”
Cynthia went to bed very late last night. She was a light sleeper and considered three hours of uninterrupted sleep a luxury. Cynthia walked over and rested one hand on Jonathan’s shoulder while reaching for the tablet with the other.
She glanced at the headline and said, “If the upper beam is not straight, the lower beam will be crooked. Ms. Bennett is dancing with wolves–nice headline. This journalist deserves a bonus.”
Cynthia was in a good mood. Despite plenty of seats nearby, she chose to sit on Jonathan’s lap without a second thought. She was scrolling through various news articles about Whitney on the tablet, an amused glint in her eyes. She said, “Your sister is going to stumble this time.
“She thought Shirley would be her powerful backing, like a fierce tiger, but little did she know that Shirley can’t even protect herself, and now she’s dragged her into the mud.”
Cynthia laughed and continued, “I want to see her expression right now. It must be priceless.”
Jonathan realized this was a trap set by Cynthia for Whitney. The Bennett Group’s annual meeting was approaching Clifford would announce the successor of the Bennett Group at the meeting.

Now, every move Jonathan and Whitney made would affect Clifford’s final decision. Public opinion was very important, too.
Betrico Multimedia was the most impressive achievement Whitney had to show Clifford and the major shareholders. But now, the stocks were plummeting.
Whitney herself got involved in a murder case and was caught in a storm of public opinion, which was a crushing blow.
Jonathan wrapped his arms around Cynthia’s waist, a faint smile on his face. He said, “You brought the Queen’s Tears yesterday, wasn’t that your plan all along?” He gently rubbed her waist and added, “You little fox.”
After breakfast, Cynthia went to the Betrico Tower, the headquarters of Betrico Multimedia.
The headquarters of the Bennett Group stood right across from Betrico Tower, towering as the tallest landmark in all of
Betrico.
Jonathan was accompanying Cynthia, even though Cynthia felt it was entirely unnecessary for him to come along.
It was rare for Jonathan to return to Betrico. As the General Manager of Bennett Group, Cynthia thought it was better for Jonathan to check out the company headquarters to win over people.
Nevertheless, Jonathan insisted on going with Cynthia to Betrico Multimedia.
With Jonathan accompanying her, Cynthia naturally had no obstacles. The secretary quickly passed the message up the chain. Finally, they were asked to wait in the meeting room.
After a while, Whitney’s secretary came over and said, “Ms. Bennett is in her office; Ms. Jones, please go ahead.”
Cynthia and Jonathan stood up. However, the secretary said, “Only Ms. Jones is invited.”
Jonathan frowned and asked, “Doesn’t Whitney want to see me?”
The secretary had been by Whitney’s side for a long time, often stuck in the tricky position of managing the siblings‘ relationship.
The secretary carefully said, “Ms. Bennett came to the office today and had a huge outburst. I’ve never seen her so angry before. At this point, Mr. Bennett, it might be best not to provoke her further.”
Everyone knew that Jonathan and Whitney were like natural enemies. Every time they met, it was a fight to the end. Cynthia said, “Don’t worry, she can’t do anything to me. Besides, I have something to discuss with Ms. Bennett.”
Jonathan checked his watch and said, “It’s 10:10. I’ll wait until 10:30. If you aren’t out by then, I’ll come in. If you feel any danger, make sure to get out safely.”
Jonathan was still concerned that Whitney might go to extremes After all, with her personality, she could go crazy and not care about the consequences.
Of course, Jonathan knew Whitney wasn’t foolish. She never did anything outrageous in front of others.
In everyone’s eyes, Whitney was a decisive businesswoman, a Thatcher–like figure in the boardroom, not the crazy person, she appeared to Jonathan. But the shady things she did behind the scenes always gave people chills.
Given the state of Betrico Multimedia now, Jonathan knew that Whitney wouldn’t do anything foolish.
Whitney probably wanted nothing more than to hold a press conference to show she had a good relationship with Cynthia Maybe that was the only way to recover Betrico Multimedia’s dropping stock price.
Soon, Cynthia arrived at the door of the CEO’s office. She hadn’t even raised her hand to knock yet. The office door swung open.

Alex was standing in the doorway. He wore a shirt with a suit. However, there were clear scars on his neck, face, and wrists.
Alex was a bit surprised to see Cynthia. His eyes flickered, and without a word, he walked out.
Cynthia went inside. She saw Whitney, who looked dignified, elegant, poised, and graceful, sitting on the couch.
Cynthia thought about the scars on Alex’s neck, they looked like they were burned by something. She then noticed. Whitney’s kettle boiling water. The piping hot water poured into the cup, steaming.
Whitney was making coffee. She moved with such grace, like a lady from ancient times.
Cynthia leisurely remarked, “Ms. Bennett has a wide range of interests.”
Whitney could easily hear the sarcasm in Cynthia’s words. Her expression didn’t change, and her eyes were as calm as still water. She said, “Men are just toys to me.”
Whitney poured a cup of coffee for Cynthia and put it in front of her. She said, “I think we see eye to eye on this. You might be the only one bold enough to keep Jonathan as a Pretty Boy for three years.”
