Chapter 294
Thea asked Nicolas to send her to Sparkle Rocks before he left.
Nicolas said, “Thea, wait for me. I won’t let you wait too long.”
Thea suddenly calmed down as she watched the car drive away.
Nicolas going back was a good thing for them. At the very least, Thea could handle the matter at hand with peace of mind.
Looking at the skyscraper in front of her, this was the first time Thea mentally prepared herself for ten minutes before entering the company building.
It was as she had expected.
Even the receptionist was slacking off. When she saw Thea’s beautiful figure in the mirror, the girl stood up numbly and shouted reluctantly, “Ms. Rowland.”
Thea tapped her flawless fingers on the marble table. “Sparkle Rocks doesn’t pay idle people. Recently, something happened to the company, so you should take on your position better. What if it’s not me who came today, but a visitor? If I find out that you have such a working attitude next time, you will be fired.”
Before Thea entered the elevator, the receptionist’s voice floated into her ears. “How is a prisoner like you awaiting trial fit to criticize me? The company is about to collapse because of you. Yet, you’re demanding that I have a good working attitude.”
Thea did not argue with her. Instead, she sent the message to the front desk.
This was the first time she felt that it was a good thing. Sparkle Rocks could take this opportunity to bring in new blood. Thea was wearing a tweed suit that she had changed into in the backseat of Nicolas’s car. She looked like a beautiful and elegant woman who had walked out of an oil painting
When the sound of her high heels echoed in the office, the chattering crowd immediately dispersed.
Thea said, “What are you talking about? You’re talking so much that your faces are all scrunched up. Why don’t you tell me?” Thea’s gaze was focused on the screen that had yet to be turned off. It was a trending topic.
The huge incident that happened to Sparkle Rocks this time was not only due to external factors. The negligent attitude of the entire company was the bigger reason.
“Now that the higher–ups of the company are all detained, I can take this opportunity to hold a staff meeting for you. It will be held in an hour. Anyone who is still employed must attend.”
Cries of complaints could be heard.
“The company is about to close down. Why are we still holding a meeting?”
“I just want to retire and receive my pension. Now that things have come to this, I don’t even know where to get my pension after retirement.”
“How dare someone like her who only depends on connections order us around!”
Thea’s office was at the innermost part of the company. Along the way, she could not count the number of disdainful comments she had heard.
The employees of Sparkle Rocks were really something. They even dared to scold their boss.

After waiting in the conference room for a long time, only a few employees appeared.
Most of them still did not know if Thea could really make a comeback. They adopted a tentative attitude.
“Ms. Rowland, you have a close relationship with the Hendrix family. Why didn’t you think of asking Mr. Hendrix to help you suppress the trending topic? Our official account is overwhelmed by all kinds of comments.”
“If Mr. Hendrix could make a move, we wouldn’t be in such a passive position now.”
The voices of assent were unexpectedly unanimous.
Thea’s eyes darkened and thought, These wily people are really eager to get some information from me.
“Although Nicolas and I are husband and wife, we are two completely different and independent individuals. We have our separate things to do. No one is responsible for the other.” Thea cleared her throat and said frankly, “I already have a solution to Sparkle Rocks‘ current predicament.”
Upon hearing this, the employees were instantly dispirited. “A solution? Ms. Rowland, the most practical solution now is to declare bankruptcy for Sparkle Rocks as soon as possible or sell it to a company of the same type.”
“You really don’t know the current situation. The marketing department is bombarded with calls to terminate contracts with us. This isn’t just about you. Even if you want to turn the tide, can you not drag us down with you?”
They couldn’t care less if Thea was the boss. Nothing was more important than their livelihoods. And Thea was the person who had personally ruined their livelihoods.
As if to verify the authenticity of their words, Thea received a few calls.
“Ms. Rowland, you’ve caused quite a mess, haven’t you? Ollie’s voice remained teasing. “My brother said that even if my small casino is disreputable, I have to cut off all dealings with you as soon as possible so that the Windrow family won’t be implicated with you.”

Actually, Thea did not blame Ollie. If Ollie really did not care about this business at all, he could have just sent his subordinate over to pass on the message.
“Got it. Mr. Windrow, please cooperate with the termination paperwork later. I’ll get the company’s legal department to contact you.” Thea was too calm. She did not seem like a woman who had just experienced a crisis.
On the other end of the phone, Ollie’s voice was filled with interest. “Ms. Rowland, actually, I personally acknowledge your ability. My brother only asked me to cut off all dealings with Sparkle Rocks. Why don’t you just abandon Sparkle Rocks and be my business partner? What do you think?”
Thea thought, ‘No way. Sparkle Rocks is an asset that my grandfather had left for me. I will never let it fall into ruin in my hands.
“Mr. Windrow, I’m sorry. I have a call coming in. I’ll contact you later.” Thea wasn’t bluffing him. Ollie and Teri called almost at the same time.
Even though Thea was in the middle of the call with Ollie, Teri still patiently called many times.
Thea’s heart skipped a beat. The people opposite her looked like they were watching a good show.
Compared to Ollie’s order, Thea knew the Langstaff Group’s order was more important.
She swiped to answer the call. Her heart was already in her throat. She wondered if Teri called to call off their collaboration.

Thea rubbed her temples and looked exhausted. She spoke in a formal tone, “Ms. Langstaff, are you calling to terminate your contract too?”
“No.” Teri’s voice was firm. “I’m calling to give you timely assistance.”
Thea’s heart skipped a beat. She wondered what Teri meant.
Teri said, “Ms. Rowland, I’ve done a lot of things to compete with you for that scumbag, Duncan. The collaboration between Sparkle Rocks and the Langstaff Group will continue. Take it as my apology gift to you.”
Thea almost couldn’t believe her ears.
She thought, ‘What was Teri saying? Teri actually wants to stick together with Sparkle Rocks.’
Warmth flowed through Thea’s heart, and her voice trembled. “Are you sure?”
“Thea, listen. I made a bet with those wily people on the inheritance this time in exchange for a chance to continue working with you. Don’t disappoint me.”
