The others took their turns doing the same. Just as Cyrus pulled back from his hug, he caught a beautiful pen out of his pocket and handed it to me.
“Here. You can use this at work.”
I took the pen from him, examining it and running it through my fingers. He still had that small smile on his face as he watched me.
“All the best in your job, Adella.” He smiled.
“Thank you.” I beamed.
I had gotten something else I wanted and my brothers had not hesitated to let me know
how supportive they were. Everything would be fine. I knew it for sure.
The next morning, I drove to work in the same car I’d thought was pretty low–key. It seemed
like a good option, so I thought why not. I parked the car in the designated area and made my way into the office.
Tian was standing with a couple of young women in the waiting area. She had a cup of
coffee in her hand as she spoke animatedly to her. No doubt it must be some sort of gossip.
I didn’t get to look at her for too long as the interviewer beckoned on me to come over. I made my way to him, trying to put on a confident look.
“Those people you see right there are ready to approach you to buy a condo. I trust you’d do a good job in that.”
There was a certain glint in his eyes as he watched me. I nodded my head, feeling fluttering in my stomach at the prospect of getting started.
“Alright then. All the best, Adella.” The man smiled before turning away.
I took in a deep breath before making my way over to where Tina and the woman were standing. As soon as she saw me, her face twisted into a sneer.

“Well look who it is.” Her gaze flickered to my supervisor’s retreating form before she turned back to me. Her lips had pulled into a confident smirk now.
“Well, look what we have.” She dropped her coffee. “The richest pack won’t even pay for
your
tuition. If I were you, I’d come out to work every single time like the peasant you are.
She took a glance at the women around her before continuing. “You better hurry up and please my sisters. They just bought a few flats and the brokerage fee will be enough for you to earn money than you can even think of finishing in your pathetic lifetime.”
I scoffed, shaking my head. “You can’t even afford my agency fees.”
“How dare you talk to my sister that way?” One of the women stepped forward.
“This must be the peasant mutt she talked about.” Another one piped up.
Tina was obviously enjoying this but I tried to maintain my cool. I was at work. There was no point in blowing up. I had to maintain my cool.
One of the women pulled out a check and pushed it at me. I took the cheque from her, wondering what she wanted.
“Fill that in.” She said rudely. “And after that, you have to carry our bags back to our
houses.”
I was taken aback. “Like some sort of slave?”
The woman’s mouth pulled into a smirk. “Exactly.”
I blew out a breath, trying to hold back my anger. It wasn’t worth it, getting angry at them. They weren’t worth the stress.
I took the cheque and began to fill in the numbers. Tina’s look of confidence only grew as she watched me finish with the check.
“You really gave in because of the money?” Tina laughed. “I always knew you were cheap.”
I ignored her words and handed her the check. As soon as she saw it, her eyes nearly popped out of its socket,

She turned to me, her eyes wide with shock. “A million dollars?!”
Tina’s eyes were still widened comically and it was taken a whole lot of professionalism to keep myself from bursting out in lau
She looked genuinely flabbergasted. Her sisters had leaned in to see what she was looking er sisters had leaned in to see what she was looking at. When their eyes settled on the figure, their eyes widened into the size of saucepans.
Tina got over her shock pretty quickly. Her face was twisted into that of anger as she closed the distance between us.
“What the hell is this?” She held the paper in the air.
I glanced at it briefly before turning to her. “You asked me to fill in the price. So that’s what
I did.”
Her face was getting more flushed as she glared at me. I’m sure she wanted to react so badly, but I doubt she could do that now. And if she did, well…I was prepared for her.
I’ve started to look forward to the new jokes this ridiculous woman comes up with every
day.
