Chapter 140
Ethan made his way to the dance floor, carrying Nicole up in his arms and striding out.
Nicole had been dancing happily, but when she came to her senses and saw his sharp jawline, she asked in confusion, “What’s wrong?”
“Time to go,” he said, his voice gentle yet firm.
Nicole pouted. “What about Mr. Luther? Is he still mad?”
“Not your concern, Ethan shot back, glancing at her. However, her wide, innocent eyes softened his tone. “He still has some issues to work through.”
Curious, she wrapped her arms around his neck. “Is he trying to get back with her?”
Ethan didn’t seem hopeful. I doubt it.”
Nicole smirked, almost enjoying the situation. “I think so too. Natalie doesn’t lack for men. I think Simon, Emily’s partner, is great.”
“Did you even remember his name?” His cool gaze swept over her.
Nicole said, “Of course! Simon said on the show today that he’s there for Nat. They haven’t met yet, but a lot of fans are already shipping them. And you know what? Simon is…”
“I don’t want to know.” His grip tightened around her waist.
The warmth in his voice was now tinged with a hint of displeasure. “Are you bringing up other guys in front of me
Nicole gave an awkward smile, buried her face in his neck, and fell silent.
Ethan glanced down at Nicole, his expression neutral. Suddenly, he sensed something and turned around, only to see Darren staring at him, lost in thought.
He lifted his chin and carried Nicole out of the bar.
After a while, once their figures had vanished, Darren finally withdrew his gaze
He recalled Ethan’s parting words and curled his lips in a cold smile, thinking, “What did it matter, this talk about true feelings? I only knew that Natalie was mine, now and forever.”
He wouldn’t take her words seriously because, in this relationship, he was the one in control. As long as he didn’t say it was over, it couldn’t be over.
With that thought, his heart began to settle, and his drinking became less frantic.
Leaning back on the couch, he stared deeply at his glass, lost in contemplation,
About an hour later, Darren rubbed his temples and waved over to Tony.
Tony approached. “Are you ready to go back, Mr. Luther?”
I’m drunk, Darren said, looking at him.
Tony looked at his dark, intense eyes, hardly convinced he was drunk. “Shall I take you home, Mr. Luther?
I’m drunk,” Darren repeated with a blank face,

Tony’s mouth twitched-“Alright, Mr. Luther. You’re drunk.”
Darren paused and said, “I want to go back.”
Then I’ll take you,” Tony dutifully replied, noticing that his mood had soured.
“Who said I wanted you to take me?” Darren glared at him. “Call Mrs. Luther and have her come pick me up.”
Tony was quite shocked when he heard the word. He glanced at Darren suspiciously and cleared his throat. “Are you referring to Ms. Xavier?”
Darren tugged at his collar in annoyance. “Are you going to call or not?”
Tony hesitated, recalling the earlier confrontation he had witnessed. If he remembered correctly, when he went to pick up Darren earlier, it was clear that the latter just argued with Natalie. She was not the same as before; she didn’t indulge him anymore. She wouldn’t care whether he was drunk or not.
Tony wanted to advise Darren not to ask for humiliation, but that disdainful look stopped him in his tracks. He cleared his throat and dialed Natalie’s number.
“Put it on speaker, Darren suddenly reminded him.
Tony quickly did as told.
A few seconds later, a robotic voice replied, “Sorry, the number you dialed is currently unavailable. Please try again later.”
Tony felt embarrassed. “Err, Ms. Xavier’s phone is off, Mr. Luther
“I heard it!” Darren replied, half–amused, half–annoyed. “Drive me back.”
Tony kept his gaze down, net daring to breathe, “Sure.”
Half an hour later, Tony helped Darren to Room 606.
“I’ll go in by myself,” Darren suddenly said. He remembered that before leaving, Natalie was dressed in thin clothing, her graceful figure wrapped in a nightgown. He found it hard to take his eyes off her.
Tony was confused and worried. “Are you okay by yourself, Mr. Luther?”
Darren pushed him aside, swiped the keycard, and seriously wamed, “Don’t follow me in.”
- ht. What was
Darren slipped through the slightly ajar door and quickly shut it behind him, leaving Tony puzzled. He thought, that all about? It felt like he was seeing me as a bad person.”
Inside the room, the bedside lamp he had left on still cast a dim glow. Darren’s gaze landed on the woman lying on the floor. her position unchanged since he had left.
He stared at her for a moment. Watching her peaceful slumber, the anger that had burned inside him just moments ago faded away.
Suddenly, Natalie frowned in her sleep, sensing something amiss, and slowly opened her eyes.
When she saw him, she froze for a second and then looked him up and down, her tone firm. “Are you drunk?”
Darren nodded. Memories flooded back from the past three years. Every time he came home tipsy, she would take care him
of
so gently. She would help him to bed, take off his shoes, clean his hands and feet, and then feed him some tea. She always soothed him in a gentle voice. “You need to drink less. It will upset your stomach. I’ll make you some porridge. Please eat a little, okay?

Chapter 140
Lost in those thoughts. Darren said, his voice tinged with a hint of anticipation “Yes, I did. I drank a lot.”
“Okay,” Natalie replied, sitting up. “I can smell it.”
Tm drunk,” he admitted, his dark eyes settling on her.
Natalie frowned. “You should just sleep outside. I can’t stand the smell. It’s making me sick.”
Darren hoped she would care for him and hug him like she used to, but her words upset him.
“Maybe I should just go,” Before he could say anything. Natalie had made her decision and stood up.
Darren watched her approach, and when she passed by him, he grabbed her wrist.
Natalie looked at him with beautiful eyes in confusion.

He wanted to ask why she was being so harsh, but the weariness in her gaze made him chuckle. He casually licked his lips. “You stay here. I’ll sleep outside.”
With that, Darren turned to leave, stumbling slightly as he opened the door and found himself face–to–face with Tony.
Tony blurted out, “Were you kicked out, Mr. Luther?”
Darren shot him a glare. “Shut up.”
Tony quickly lowered his gaze, trying to look innocent.
Frustrated, Darren raised his foot and kicked him playfully. “Go get me another room.”
