Chapter 138
Darren noticed the sarcasm in her words and her smirk, which instantly irritated him.
He had always had the upper hand in relationships, and no one had ever spoken to him like this. He thought, ‘How dare Natalie talk to me this way? Who did Natalie think she was to speak to?”
He reacted like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. Without thinking, he shot back, “Who do you think you are?
Natalie smiled, “Right, I’m no one, but if you don’t like me, why do you want me back?”
Darren’s expression turned gloomy and cold. He felt it was necessary to let her know that he was running out of patience.
He had already been more than reasonable, so he thought that she should know when to stop. With a sneer, he replied, “I’m giving you this chance out of respect for how much you love me Natalie. Just remember, there are plenty of women who want to be my wife and have kids with me. You’re not special
“Then why don’t you go after them instead of harassing me?” Natalie said, a smirk on her lips. Her calm gaze seemed to dissect him as she asked, “Don’t tell me that after the divorce, you realized you can’t live without me.”
“What?” Darren laughed in surprise as if he had heard something ridiculous. “How could you feel so good about yourself?”
Natalie didn’t say a word and just looked at him gently. Just like countless times before, no matter how he treated her, she always radiated patience and understanding.
However, this time, Darren sensed a hint of disdain and contempt in her calmness,
Heat rushed to his face, but his eyes were still cold. “I’m gonna ask you one last time. Are you coming back”
“No,” said she.
“Think carefully before you answer!” said Darren.
She said, “I’m sure about my decision.”
She had been thinking about it for two years. Ever since she realized he didn’t love her, she had been practicing how to leake him. However, she always held onto hope, getting swayed by little sweet moments that touched her. That was why she struggled to make a final decision.
She let herself struggle and sink into this relationship filled with pain and despair. It was only after the divorce that she slowly started to pull herself out, allowing her to calmly say these words.
“I won’t go back,” she said, looking at the man in front of her, thinking of all the past, and firmly stating. “I don’t like you. anymore.
“That’s impossible.” Darren stood up abruptly.
He clenched his fists, an indescribable pressure weighing on his chest. Frustration bubbled over, and he spat out harshly. “It’s impossible for you not to like me, Natalie. Stop pretending. This is your last chance: If you don’t appreciate it, I won’t take you later even if you beg.”
–Darren knew just how infatuated she was with him. He thought, Would three years of love suddenly disappear? How could a
woman who loved me and was always loyal to me suddenly change her mind? He refused to believe it.
However, when Natalie said she had let it go, it felt like a lightning bolt, shattering all his rationality and self–control
“I don’t believe it!” Darren gritted his teeth, fury lacing his voice You’re just throwing a tantrum! After months of freedom,
huh? Fine. I’m curious how long it will take you to come back to me!” think you’ve grown stronger,

Chapter 138
With that, he stormed out, anxious that if he lingered, she would drop another bombshell he couldn’t handle.
He rushed down the stairs, his hands trembling as he called Tony
Once in the car, he vented his frustration, pounding the seat a few times.

Tony had been called in the middle of the night and wasn’t fully awake, but after witnessing Darren’s outburst, all traces of sleep vanished. He discreetly glanced in the rearview mirror, surprised.
Darren’s eyes were red as he held back his words, taking deep, ragged breaths. He felt something churning inside him. Every time he thought of Natalie’s words, it twisted his insides and made him feel uncomfortable. He needed to do something to quell that rising tide of emotions.
“Go to the bar,” he said.
Tony noticed that Darren was off–kilter, so he suggested, “Mr. Harper is in BurgCity, Mr. Luther. He’s at a bar tonight and just posted about it half an hour ago. Should we go see him?”
Soon, Darren met Ethan, along with the young girl he often had by his side.
Nicole glanced at him and whispered to Ethan, “Did he just kill someone?”
Ethan’s gaze was deep as he squeezed her waist lightly. “Be a good girl and go play elsewhere for a bit.
Nicole pouted but bounced off to join her friends, leaving Ethan to greet Darren
Ethan invited Darren to sit down and poured him a glass of wine. Darren downed it in one gulp.
The strong liquor burned his throat, radiating warmth to his stomach, and making him feel light–headed. Even the earlier conversation with Natalie began to feel surreal, almost like a dream.
He thought it was a dream.
He thought, “Yes, a dream. How could Natalie have said those things to me? Darren reassured himself and gestured for another drink.
Ethan clinked glasses with him, feigning ignorance. “What are you doing in BurgCity? Are you here for business?”
Darren leaned back on the couch, pausing as he unbuttoned his buttons. “Why do you care?”
Ethan could tell he was in a foul mood, but he loved to poke at wounds. He shook the glass and said, “It’s not my business, but my girl has been watching Sweet Love. She noticed there’s a guy on there who looks just like you and even has the same name. Isn’t that a coincidence?”
Darren knew he was being sarcastic, so he pursed his lips and glared at him. “What exactly are you trying to say?”
Ethan chuckled. “Oh, nothing much. Just remember someone saying that he must be crazy to go on a dating show.”
Darren was speechless.
Ethan continued, “He also said that this kind of show is for unwanted people.
How did I hear that someone threw in 300 million dollars, rushing to be this ugly and undesirable person?”
“Mr. Luther, that can’t be you, can it?”
“Are you ever going to shut up?” Darren snapped, exasperated. “So what if it’s me? I went on that show for Natalie!* Ethan rested his hand on his leg. “Look at your face. Did she reject you?”

Chapter 138
Darren instinctively shot back, sneering. “How could that be possible? You know she’s always loyal and obedient to me. She listens to me no matter what. How could she…”
However, as he met Ethan’s knowing gaze, his words trailed off.
He wanted to laugh it off, but it felt pointless to him. They had grown up together like brothers. There was no need for pretense.
After a moment, Darren admitted quietly, “She doesn’t agree to remarry
