Luna internally scoffed at Wilson’s move. Once she got evidence on Mia and publicly exposed her for plagiarism, Wilson’s announcement might just become his greatest embarrassment
Luna looked forward to that day.
She continued scrolling down the announcement post. The comment that stood out the most was written by Wyatt.
It read, “Congratulations, Mia, and welcome to our big family! You’ve added excitement to our otherwise boring research team. I look forward to working with you!”
Ethan left a comment right after Wyatt. As usual, he was being ingratiating.
Luna scanned the comments and laughed out loud.
In the past, she had naively believed that Ethan’s kindness was meant for her alone- groveling at her feet and showering her with praise. It wasn’t until the team cast her aside that she saw his wretched side.
Even during her time in prison, she couldn’t make sense of it. How could someone who’d once spoken so highly of her turn around and hurl the vilest of insults without hesitation?
Her past self couldn’t figure it out, but the answer had since become clear to her after she was reborn–the treatment she received was proportional to her worth!
In Ethan’s eyes, all that mattered was someone’s usefulness to him. He was a typical snob! Luna didn’t spend much time on the page. She quickly glanced at the comment section just to confirm that all five of her seniors in the team had written comments.
She couldn’t be happier to see the five of them “getting along” with Mia!
Luna clicked back to Rhett’s profile page. She then shared his post and made some edits to the caption.
She wrote, “Yes. I have joined Professor Wilder’s research team. I understand that changing majors in one’s senior year is a risky move, but I’m grateful to Professor Wilder for her generosity. I shall not let her down.
“I would also like to thank my seniors Rhett Wilder and Suzie Hoffman for their concern and help. You have given me the confidence to pick up a new major. For that, I am grateful.”
To Luna, changing majors was the first step to turn around her miserable fate, even if it looked like she had been cast aside by Wilson’s team on the surface.
Erin’s research team might only be a temporary refuge, but they still deserved her public gratitude.
Chapter 18
To onlookers, Luña’s move was more like a bungled attempt to give herself an out. All she did was attract more mockery.
Before she even clicked out of the page, some users had left comments to taunt her.
“Looks like someone else will be at the top of the class now! Great news!”
“Luna’s cold to everyone. Does she think she’s better than everyone else? She deserves to be kicked out of the team!”
“You could never compete with Mia! She’s beautiful inside and out. You’re nothing but an ugly drama queen!”
“Damn, after so many years of seducing my Mr. McDreamy Wyatt Dalton, he’s finally seen you for who you are! He should’ve kicked you out sooner!”
“Mia has saved Wyatt from Luna’s claws, but what about poor Rhett? I don’t want Rhett to fall under her spell!”
Luna paused for a moment and fixed her gaze on a few specific words.
“Fall under her spell“?
Upon thinking back, Wyatt and the others had been placed under Mia’s spell, so much so that they refused to believe the truth that was right before their eyes. They even went so far as to call Luna malicious and accused her of plotting against Mia.
But now, she wouldn’t plead her case or try to win anyone over. Instead, she would watch from the sidelines.
She wanted to see just how high each of them could soar, and what they could actually achieve.
She was also curious to see what unforgettable experience Mia–whom they had defended so passionately–would put them through this time.
