A minor episode unfolded in the latter part of the medical consultation.
A rather accomplished professor in the field of pliarmacology suggested to Erin Wilder, “Istit think it’s wiser to get Professor Hanley into our research of integrating cell biology with acupuncture.
“He’s the
expert in cell biology, after all. He knows more than anyone here.”
“Am I nothing to you?” Anger flashed across Erin’s usually calm face. “I suggest you ask around if you are clueless about my history with Professor Hanley. What ‘expert‘ are you talking about? I won’t have him killing my patients!”
The professor who brought up the suggestion looked vexed. “You–Professor Wilder, don’t you think you’re too harsh? Our mission is to cure cell–related diseases. We should welcome anyone who can help into our research team!
“It’s not very professional of you to turn away valuable resources over personal grudges!”
Erin merely snorted. “Well, sorry to disappoint. do not need a man like Wilson Hanley in my research team. If you think he can help, you should seek him out. You’re not welcome in my
team.
Luna gulped at Erin’s assertiveness with much respect. Her new mentor definitely stood her ground!
From the conversation just now, Luna discovered that she seemed to have unknowingly joined the research team of Professor Hanley’s opponent.
The thought of it excited her.
Would Wyatt and the others think that she was doing this on purpose? So what if she was doing it on purpose? Let them boil over in anger!
“Why are you smiling? It’s time to show off your knowledge in pharmacology and cell biology in front of this professor. Let him know that everyone in my team–even a temporary intern- is here because they deserve their spot.” Erin suddenly tugged at Luna
Luna began, “Good day, professors. In regards to the research you just brought up–on the integration of cell biology with acupuncture–I believe that…”
Luna provided a well–rounded explanation of the feasibility of Erin’s new research project. Her speech covered everything from theoretical studies in cell biology to applications in pharmacology and the integration of acupuncture
Although Luna didn’t speak for long, everyone fell silent in awe, including Erin. She realized that Luna seemed to be more brilliant than she had expected.
A thunderous applause broke out after the brief silence.
“Ms. Hayes, you don’t major in acupuncture, do you?”
Luna was honest. “No. I major in cell biology.”
“I heard that Professor Hanley has put together a team on a new research project. If you’re a cell biology major, why didn’t you
Erin crossly cut him off. “Is my team undeserving of a top student in cell biology?”
The speaker patted Erin on the arm. “Hey, that’s not what I meant. I just didn’t want history to repeat itself. It’s not easy to put together such a research team, you know.”
Erin briefly glanced at Luna and said, “Don’t you worry. This time, Wilson will not take Luna from us!”
“Great. I’m relieved to have your word. Let’s wrap up the medical consultation now. Please start the research as soon as the team is set. In the meantime, I’ll talk to the patient’s family.”
Carl Holbeck, the professor who had spoken with Erin, rose from his seat. He adjusted his glasses and looked at Luna for a bit, but he ultimately said nothing. In the end, he left with another professor.
After that, Erin finally turned around to look at Luna. “You heard Professor Holbeck, didn’t you? Now that you’re on my team, you need to focus. I don’t like students who are all over the place.”
“Professor Wilder, don’t worry. I won’t get distracted, and I will never go back to Professor Hanley.” Luna confidently promised.
Then, she asked again, “Are those two professors Carl Holbeck from Clinical Medicine and Harper Johnson from Pharmacology?“
