Thea turned around and left resolutely. 

“Emmalie, does it hurt?” Duncan’s gaze was focused on Emmalie’s swollen cheek. “I chose to spare her for the sake of kinship, but she didn’t appreciate it all. So, just let her die!” His words were filled with ruthless coldness, instantly making Emmalie feel a chill run down her spine. 

This lunatic didn’t consider the consequences and might really be a murderer. 

“No.” Emmalie held Duncan’s hand timidly. “Thea is still Mrs. Hendrix in name. If something really happens to her, I’m afraid Nicolas won’t let us go. I don’t want to get you implicated. 

Emmalie knew how to make use of her looks. When she lowered her eyes pitifully, her shoulders trembled. “Thea is a family member we grew up with. If she really dies, I’ll feel terrible.” 

What was the point of letting Thea die? She wanted Thea to live in endless despair and torture. She would let Thea watch helplessly as she gained everything that belonged to her. She would make her life worse than hell. 

Duncan’s heart was burning. He pulled Emmalie into his arms. Ever since he tasted her, he could not bear to let go. “You’re always so kind. Emmalie, I’ll listen to you.” 

Upon hearing this, Emmalie gently buried her pretty face in his chest. 

At the same time, Thea and Joyce had already stepped into the forest behind the mountain. 

A group of people in police uniforms brushed shoulders with them. 

The leader berated sternly. “What are you two women doing here? Don’t you know how dangerous this place is? Hurry up and go down!” 

However, Thea shook her head firmly. “We are not afraid of danger.” She was afraid that she would not have the chance to prove her innocence.

Joyce was glad that she had accompanied Thea. Otherwise, if Thea were to face such a dangerous situation alone, she would probably lose her life. 

When they walked down the mountain, the two of them still fell to the ground together. 

“Mrs. Rowland.” Ursa had spent the entire night negotiating with the police. When she saw Thea’s pathetic appearance, she couldn’t help but frown. “You went up the mountain? Do you want to die?” She had a cold personality and rarely revealed her emotions.

Thea frowned slightly. 

Initially, she thought that it was just Emmalie and Duncan behind the scenes. She did not expect that there was even an inside problem in her company. 

Thea did not know about this list. But she was also sure that the police wouldn’t buy it. Even Jamie looked at her with disappointment. 

She smiled bitterly. “Now that there is a name list, no matter if its fake or factual and no matter how I explain, it seems I can’t defend myself because you won’t believe me. Officer, your job is to fight against all illegal acts, and I want to clear my name. Compared to explaining, I prefer to cooperate with you.”
