I calmly turned to look at her; neither of us spoke.
Her eyes were filled with hatred and anger toward me as if I were a despicable jerk.
“I know what you want.”
Her icy gaze bore into me as she suddenly smiled cruelly. “What you care about most are your sister’s friends at the hospital, right? That’s why you were so furious when I withdrew the funding.”
Her words felt like a knife slicing through my heart. She knew exactly what mattered to me and still chose to hurt me with her words.
“What do you want?” I asked, my expression cold and my tone displeased.
“I can agree to continue investing in the hospital, and I can also give you a million in funds.”
Chapter 79
couldn’t help but laugh at Abigail’s words, shaking my head as I asked, “Are you bragging about being rich?”
Abigall looked at me calmly, a faint smile on her lips. “So what if I am? Samuel, you don’t have the right to refuse me. If you want a divorce, you have to meet my demands. Otherwise, there’s no point in discussing this any further.”
Her words were firm and unwavering, as if my life was entirely under her control, leaving me with only one option.
But I knew this was all meant to humiliate me.
She was willing to spend ten million on a brooch for Joshua, yet she refused to pay for my sister’s medical bills and even used the lives of her friends at the hospital as leverage against
- me.
Now, even if she offered me money, it was just one million.
It was laughable.
I looked at her coldly and scoffed, “One million? Abigail, are you treating me like a beggar:
My words amused her. She narrowed her eyes and coldly retorted, “How much do then?”
I held up one finger, indicating “one“. “I want ten million!”
you want you
Her expression changed immediately, darkening with anger as she glared at me. “Do you think you’re worth that much?”
Was I not worth it?
When she bought that brooch for Joshua, she didn’t even blink.
I didn’t respond to her accusation but looked at her coldly and said, “What, all you want
this
to give me to get rid of me? Abigail, don’t forget that right now, we’re only using each other. If you think my terms are unacceptable, then let’s just part ways!”
I spoke with an icy detachment, devoid of any emotion.
As soon as I finished, I noticed a distinct change in her gaze–there was a glint of malice as if I were her enemy.
Before, I had always complied with her demands like a puppet, never daring to resist. But now, she was just an expendable part of my life. Perhaps sensing my change in demeanor, her expression darkened noticeably.
I scoffed, asking, “What’s wrong? Reluctant to part with your money?”
“If you’re not willing to give, then forget it. You clearly aren’t sincere about negotiating, so there’s no need for us to continue this discussion”
After saying this, I stood up to leave.
“Stop!”
Abigail suddenly called out, her cold gaze locking onto mine as she quickly wrote me a check.
“Ha, looks like what people say online is true.
She regarded me with disdain, saying, “You’re just a kept man.”
My hand trembled slightly as I reached out, but still accepted the check with a smile, calmly responding, “Call me whatever you want.”
I vaguely remembered when she and I first got married; she was busier than ever. Every day, she had numerous partners to meet, business deals to negotiate, and projects to follow up on.
Having experienced loss once, she was determined to handle everything herself this time to ensure everything went smoothly.
So, to take care of her and our home, I stopped working. All the household expenses were covered by her. Whenever she handed me money, it felt like she was tossing coins to a beggar.
