Chapter 76
Although Abigail rejected Joshua’s request, the affection in her tone was still unmistakable. This contrast made my stomach turn with disgust.
When I was with Abigail, she had never spoken to me in such
her feelings for Joshua surpass everything she felt for me?
What had changed? Did
I felt no jealousy or resentment; rather, I found Abigail utterly repulsive at that moment. She was someone who played with my feelings and belittled me. She was unworthy of the love I had given her.
Joshua seemed quite displeased with Abigail’s refusal. He continued to plead, “Abigail, I need to accompany you! There’s no way I can let you go to such an event alone.”
His ability to whine was top–notch. If I were a woman, I might have already fallen for his charm. Noticing that Abigail was silent, he pressed on, “Abigail, you’ve always had me by your side at public events! Samuel doesn’t like these occasions; why would you want to bring him along?”
I froze, stunned by his words. Did he feel wronged because Abigail wanted to bring me with her? Before Abigail could respond, he added, “Samuel doesn’t like you anymore, Abigail. If you bring him, he’ll just embarrass you; he won’t care at all!”
Through the floor–to–ceiling glass of the office, I could clearly see Abigail’s expression change. She shot a cold glance at Joshua and snapped, “Are you trying to make this difficult
for me?”
Joshua’s eyes turned red, and he quietly started to cry in front of her. His pitiful demeanor was so convincing that even I felt a twinge of sympathy.
It was clear that Abigail was feeling sorry for him. She gently reached out, wiping away Joshua’s tears, and softly comforted him, “It’s okay, don’t cry. This time, it’s not me who decided not to take you; it’s that the other party specifically requested both of us.”
Hearing this, Joshua lost his earlier bravado. He sat in front of Abigail, visibly defeated and
unable to say a word.
I understood that Abigail was inherently a strong woman. If Joshua played by her rules, he would be showered with affection. But if he dared to act out, she would not hesitate to dismiss him. Such a woman was perfectly suited for the business world.
Given how far she had gone with her words, I knew that if Joshua continued to act
unreasonably, she would promptly throw him out.
“Alright then, Abigail, you have to take me next time!” Joshua forced a smile, but the tears in his
eyes were hard to hide.

He needed exposure desperately. If he could ride the wave of popularity, his path to stardom would undoubtedly shine brighter.
“Okay, go now,” Abigail nodded, urging him to leave.
I calmly watched Joshua walk out and greeted him with a smile, “What a coincidence.”
The moment he saw me, his expression froze. He clenched his teeth in anger, pointing at me and growling, “What are you doing here?“
