Chapter 13
What Robin failed to notice was that Kane, lying on the bed, had opened his eyes at some point. He had heard everything.
Kane clutched the edge of the blanket tightly, his fondness for Constance plunging to rock bottom. If Elena wasn’t allowed to have his dad’s child, then why should Constance be? Even if it wasn’t true, he wouldn’t accept it!
Once he had mostly recovered, Kane got out of bed and walked to Constance’s guest room to find her, but she wasn’t there. He then heard movement coming from Elena’s room. For a brief second, he thought Elena had come back.
“Elena!”
A surge of joy rose in his chest, though his face remained cold. But when he stepped inside and saw that it was Constance, his expression turned even colder.
“Oh, it’s you?”
Constance gave a dismissive smile. “Kaney, Elena’s gone now, so I thought I’d help her tidy up a bit. What do you think about me moving in here?
“Elena killed your mother, and she’s divorced now. Her things shouldn’t be here. A room this nice should be put to good use, don’t you think so?” She spoke with a coaxing, gentle tone.
But Kane wasn’t listening at all. If it were before back when Elena was still around–maybe he would’ve agreed without a second thought.
But now? After nearly killing him and proving she wasn’t even half the person Elena was… and now, possibly carrying his father’s child? He wasn’t going to let her off!
“No! This room belongs to Elena. You’re not allowed to touch her things! And you can’t have Dad’s baby either!”
Kane’s eyes turned red with fury, and he shoved Constance hard.
Her heart skipped a beat. She quickly shielded her belly, stumbling a few steps before
steadying herself. She even tried to act like nothing had happened.
“Kaney, did someone lie to you? How could I be pregnant with Robin’s child?
“Didn’t you still like me just a few days ago? Didn’t you say you wanted me to take care of you?
I won’t have Robin’s baby if you don’t want me to
But maybe that doctor was actually close to Elena and faked it all. Maybe she’s the one pregnant with Robin’s child, and she’s trying to frame me. You can’t let yourself be fooled, okay?”
Seeing Kane hanging his head down in silence, Constance assumed he was convinced by her

Her smile deepened.
“Kaney, do you really hate the idea of Robin having another child that much? You always said you liked me the most, that you wanted me to be your mom. So how about, in the future, I give you a little brother or sister who listens to you?”
“No!”
Kane’s face was filled with rage. He didn’t want to hear another word from her. He immediately called for the bodyguards.
“Guards! Push her down the stairs! She’s not allowed to have a baby–not even a fake one!”
Following his command, the bodyguards grabbed Constance and dragged her toward the stairwell. Constance’s face turned ghostly pale as she began struggling desperately.
“You can’t touch me! If I get hurt and Mr. Marsh finds out, he’ll never let you go!”
But the guards didn’t care. They only took orders from Kane.
Constance fought with all her might, but it was useless. She was dragged all the way to the top of the stairs.
The bodyguard used all his strength to shove her down, and there was immediately a loud crash. Constance instinctively wrapped her arms around her belly, but her body hit the ground hard after tumbling down step after step.
A sharp, gut–wrenching pain exploded in her lower abdomen, and her whole body trembled from the impact. Bright red blood trickled slowly down her legs, soaking into her dress.
The pain in her stomach pulsed and throbbed. Panic overwhelmed her as she cried out in terror, “My baby! My baby! Get me to the hospital! I can’t let anything happen to my baby!” She screamed until her voice was hoarse, but no one in the villa called for help. Constance was drowning in despair. She could clearly feel the life inside of her slipping away.
Kane was consumed by disappointment as he watched all of this unfold.
“Constance! You’re nothing but a liar!” he shouted. “You pretended to be nice to me just to get to this day–to drive Elena away, to have Dad’s child, and to take my mom’s place! “You’re trying to push me out! I won’t allow it!”
