Chapter 57
The gentle concern in her tone left me momentarily dazed.
I looked up blankly and met Abigail’s worried eyes. My body trembled uncontrollably at the sight of her.
A wave of resistance surged within me. I pushed away her supporting hand on me the next second and asked coldly, “Why are you here?”
However, Abigail’s expression remained calm and unshaken despite my harsh attitude toward
her.
She extended her hand to feel my forehead and said gently, “Samuel, stop being so stubborn. You’re severely ill right now. I need to ask the doctor to carry out a full examination on you. Only then can I be at ease.”
Her words didn’t bring me any warmth. Instead, I found it extremely ridiculous.
Did she truly think a few sweet words would make me believe her?
No one understood better than her what she once put me through.
She came to me now, acting all loving and tender. Who was she trying to fool?
I looked at her coldly and was about to refuse before she turned around and left the room to
find the doctor.
It had been a long time since I last saw George. His gaze was filled with worry as he looked at
- me.
He examined me thoroughly while Abigail stood by my side nervously, as if terrified of hearing any bad news.
However, I wasn’t moved by her reaction. Instead, it felt like a performance to me.
I had seen how unloving she was and how she tormented me. I felt nothing for her now but disgust.
Fortunately, George didn’t find any serious issues after the examination.
He advised me to relax and avoid getting upset over trivial matters.
I smiled and nodded in agreement before I looked up at him before me and said gently,” George, thank you.”
“Thank me for what?” George frowned slightly and stared at me earnestly as he said coldly,” You’re exhausting your own body. You owe yourself an apology.”
I said nothing and could only manage a helpless smile.
Chapter 57
George had other patients to attend to. I closed my eyes and prepared to rest once he left.
However, Abigail had brought fruits for me and placed them on my bedside table.
“What would you like to eat? I can get it for you” Her Was extremely soft as if she was trying to make amends for the past wounds she had caused me through these small acts of kindness.
Yet, my expression remained unfazed.

anything. Please leave with her flattery and was entirely devoid of interest. “I don’t need
My tone was calm, but her brows tightened at my words. She showed no intention of leaving
at all.
“You don’t have to treat yourself like this even if you want a divorce,” she said earnestly as if she was genuinely concerned about me.
I found her words extremely ridiculous.
I shook my head faintly and cast her a sidelong glance as I sneered. “Do you think I’d go to such lengths because of you?”
She wasn’t worth me going to such lengths for her.
I simply had no appetite now. All I could eat now was liquid food. All of these would burden my body even though they seemed nutritious.
My body simply couldn’t process any of it. She wouldn’t have to put on this show for me if she had bothered to ask George more about the details.
