Chapter 56
I remained unfazed when faced with his arrogance and hostility.
Instead, I asked calmly, “Your girl? Why didn’t I know that Abigail had a boyfriend?”
He laughed and looked at me as if I were a fool before he sneered and asked rhetorically, “Does she need to report to you whether she has a boyfriend or not?”
1 also laughed when I saw his smug attitud
I folded my arms disdainfully and mocked. “Everyone at school knows how many guys have tried to woo Abigail, yet she’s never shown any interest. If you’re truly her boyfriend, and she hasn’t told a soul about you, doesn’t that make you too unpresentable?”
My words instantly made him flush with humiliation.
He gritted his teeth furiously and rolled up his sleeves before he stormed over me. “Get him! Beat him to a pulp!”
Countless people rushed at me at his furious shout. I was surrounded as fists and kicks landed all over me until I was left battered and bruised.
The wealthy kid breathed heavily and pointed at me as he threatened fiercely and cursed, “Tell me, do you still dare to pursue Abigail now?”
I was beaten black and blue with blood trickling from the corner of my mouth.
However, I still clenched my teeth and shouted defiantly, “Kill me if you’ve got the guts! Because I’ll keep going after Abigail as long as I’m alive! I won’t give up on the girl I love!”
His eyes flashed with fury, yet he couldn’t kill me outright.
He could only threaten me viciously. “You’ve got guts, kid. But you’d better pray that you won’t run into me often, because I’ll beat you every time I see you!”
With those cold words, he turned around and left without looking back.
I went to the infirmary for medication. I ran into Abigail when I came out. She was there to drop off the registration forms.
She stared at me intently. The words that came out of her mouth made my heart race and my breath quicken.
She frowned as she looked at me and asked, “How did you get those wounds on your face?”
She continued with a lowered voice before I could respond, “Do you know that fighting is against the school rules? You’ll be expelled if you’re caught.”
I didn’t want to burden her, so I simply lowered my head and replied faintly, “Got it. I won’t
do it again.”
However, she suddenly cupped my face and looked at me carefully. Her simple gesture made my heart pound again for her.
I couldn’t hold back anymore. Therefore, I decided to confess to her directly, “Can I court you?
Abigail blushed and said, “I’ll have to test you first, then we’ll see.” With that, she ran off shyly.
Her reaction told me all I needed to know. She liked me.
After all, she would simply smile and bow before waving her suitors off whenever they confessed to her previously.
However, she said she would put me to the test.
Didn’t that mean she had feelings for me too?
I felt on top of the world because of the matter. Even the pain from my injuries seemed to fade.
Our love was sweet and beautiful back then.
I was willing to give anything for her. But now, everything I had once given to her seemed laughable and tragic.
I didn’t know how much time had passed before I groggily regained consciousness.
However, I wasn’t in my rented apartment. Instead, I was lying on the hospital bed.
The strong scent of antiseptic made me suffocate.
I lifted the blanket and was about to get off the bed when a figure approached and supported me firmly.
“Where are you going? You should be resting!”
