Chapter 55
“Am I making you lose your temper?” I couldn’t help but laugh at Abigail’s twisted logic and asked rhetorically, “What makes you say that?”
Abigail forced herself to contain her displeasure at my words before she said with an icy tone, “You saw the news, didn’t you? Joshua held a press conference to clarify that there’s absolutely nothing between us. What else do you want? Isn’t that enough?”
Her words left me momentarily speechless.
What exactly did I want from her? Was it so hard to fall out of love and get a divorce?
Instead, she had to question, humiliate, and blame me like this.
1 had no idea what went on in her mind.
“That’s enough, Abigail. You don’t have to say anything more.” I gripped my phone tightly and coldly before saying calmly, “It’s not enough.”
“You…” Her voice wavered with disbelief. I continued faintly before she could say anything, Because I want a divorce.”
“Shut up! Just shut up! I’ll never divorce you, Samuel! So, get that idea out of your head!” Abigail sounded furious on the other end of the phone.
She hissed at me through gritted teeth as if she wouldn’t have hesitated to grab me by the throat and fiercely threaten me to give up the thought of getting a divorce if I was standing in
front of her.
Her reaction brought back memories of the first time she returned home with a man. We had a huge fight.
Not only did she not feel the slightest sense of guilt, but she had smashed a glass bottle over my head.
She was like an enraged beast back then. She glared at me with bloodshot eyes and shouted through gritted teeth, “How long are you going to keep this up? Will it make you happy to ruin. my career?”
I could barely stand from the intense pain in my abdomen.
A wave of dizziness washed over me, leaving my entire body weak as I couldn’t stand on my
feet.
My vision went black, and I collapsed the next moment.
I could still hear Abigail’s furious voice lashing out at me before I lost consciousness.
A dark haze enveloped me as I walked forward aimlessly before suddenly feeling a growing
lightness in my body.
Everything before me slowly began to come into focus.
I had returned to the day I first met Abigail.
She was the famous beauty of the school. She was gorgeous with an enviable figure and practically a goddess in everyone’s eyes.
The most remarkable thing was that she was at the top of her class in every subject. All the teachers in the school adored her.
The other girls couldn’t even feel jealous around her. She was simply too exceptional.
Many guys pursued her. Someone would confess to her nearly every day.
We were both in the student council. I saw her working hard at her studies while making time for different activities. She was always kind and gentle without ever losing her temper. I found myself slowly falling for her.
My confess to her.
roommates asked if I had lost my mind the day I decided t
“Many guys are after her. Can’t you tell that she’s not even interested in men? Otherwise, why would she turn down all of them?”
I was speechless. Why would there even be rumors like that?
I still hadn’t given up on the idea of pursuing her even with the presence of so many rivals.
Someone had somehow spread the word about my intention.
A wealthy kid and his posse cornered me in the classroom one day after class.
He sized me up and asked fiercely, “So, are you the one trying to go after my girl, Abigail?”
