“Where are you going, Ma Mira?” Ma Mira was often what I referred to as my Grandma whenever she looked so nice and dressed up.
“Haha, I was invited to a charity event at the women’s club, you know I was a part of the women’s chib before we had to leave for Los Angeles? She explained, admiring herself in the mirror.
“Yeah, I remember. So they’re holding a charity event, sounds nice and you look really good Ma Mira.” I remarked as I arranged the neck of her dress.
“Oh sweetheart, you know just how to flatter me. Come on, what are you doing today?” She asked and I replieNothinging” with a shrug and then she grabbed my arm and whispered desperately to me.
“Then why don’t you accompany me to the event? There will be lots of people there and we can use the opportunity to inform them about your newly opened restaurant!” She urged and I nodded.
“Okay, okay, I’m coming. But what about Moon!?
“Oh come on, he’ll come with us. Best, he might meet new kids and make friends too. Grandma Mira already had it figured out and there’s no going back now.
There’s no convincing her otherwise when she’s made up her mind so I got into my room and got ready, Grandma Mira took care of Moon and we
were soon on our way.
The event center was filled with different people and it looked like a mini fun center, with lots of kids playing bubbles, slides and water guns. Grandma Mira was right, this was a good place to bring Moon.
I could see the boy’s eyes light up at the sight of other kids playing freely in the open.
“Mommy, mommy please can I join them? I want to go on the slides!” He pleaded rather impatiently

hair before nodding my head. “Yes son-” I barely finished before he went jumping around with joy.
It was a charity event so almost everything was free.
Grandma Mira met some of her friends and we all exchanged pleasantries while 1 pitched my
restaurant. to them.
It was my first attending such events and I enjoyed myself greatly.
I had one of the free cupcakes and lemonade and I fell refreshed again.
“It wouldn’t be had to hold such a thing once in a year from my pocket you know?” I suggested to Grandma Mira whose eyes lit up with excitement at my words

I macknamed her the parrot because she never seemed to exhaust her words.
“So it’s true? The ex–wife has returned.” She said with a scoff and I shook my head,
“Yes, she has. And she is here to take over everything you once thought were yours.” It was meant to tease her but it enraged her.
I had no idea she was this easily enraged.
Have you forgatten what Quium dial in you? How does he treat you like the trash that you are! I am going to make sure you live in the shadows for the rest of your life unless you trave New York” She barked in anger.
Grandma Mira wanted to reply to her but I patted her shoulder, it was not her fight and I didn’t want to drag her into this.
She got the message and swallowed her words.
I had returned to my city and I was going to put everyone in their place.

I had just struck a feeble cord in her heart and I knew it.
It was a secret she had fought so hard to hide when she came to New York with her young daughter several years ago but after my divorce from Quinn. I did some background checks on Veronica and her family and there I discovered that her mother did a lot of slurry things to afford the kind of life her friends had.
“W- what? How?” She asked, defeat clearly in her tone but I smiled brightly.
“Let this be a warning, I don’t want to ever see your face or your dirty little secret would be exposed and all you and your daughter have tried to achieve would go south. I finished and walked away, brushing my shoulders against hers and causing her to stagger.
“My God! How did you find that out! I’ve never seen her this defeated and quict Grandma Mira remarked when we walked away from her.

“That is Mrs. Johnny, she has loads of money to spend, go and engage in a chat with her and tell her about your restaurant. I’ll go look for Moon. he’s been away for some time now” Grandma Mira nudged at me before excusing herself.
I cleared my throat and lifted my chin before approaching the heavily built
woman.
