Chapter 31: Everything She Wants
After finishing a long day at work, Julian felt utterly exhausted as his driver dropped him off at the villa. As soon as he stepped out of the car, someone ran up to him–it was Layla.
Layla had been waiting at the gate for a while, unable to enter without the security code. She knew Julian had finally arrived when she heard the sound of his car pulling up.
“Darling, you’re finally home!” Layla exclaimed, throwing herself into his arms, nearly causing Julian to lose his balance.
“When did you get here?” Julian asked.
“I came right after finishing my study session this afternoon. You’ve been working so late every day, it must be exhausting. How about I give you a massage?” Layla offered, reaching out to massage him, but Julian subtly avoided her touch.
“Did you come over for something specific?” he asked, his voice calm but distant.
Layla didn’t seem discouraged by his rejection. She looped her arm through his and led him inside. Remember you asked if I knew how to make porridge? I learned how! I made some for you. Come try it
and see how it tastes!”
Julian frowned slightly at her enthusiasm but said nothing as he unlocked the door and led her inside.
We’ll talk inside.”
Layla had always known the villa was luxurious, but stepping inside, she was in awe. The place was even grander than she had imagined, with lavish decor and expensive furnishings. She felt like she had stepped into a dream.
She had heard rumors that the villa had its own stables and golf course. The sheer opulence of the place made her heart race with excitement. If she could live here forever and marry Julian, she would have everything she ever wanted–the villa, designer clothes, jewelry, servants, and drivers. The thought alone made her giddy with happiness.
Julian, on the other hand, seemed oblivious to Layla’s wide–eyed admiration of his home. He sat down and tasted the porridge she had made, taking only one bite before putting down his spoon. The taste was average at best.
Layla blinked, surprised by his reaction. She had tasted it herself earlier, and it hadn’t been that bad. “Why did you stop eating? Did I do something wrong? Tell me, and I’ll fix it.”
“There’s no need. I had dinner before I came home, so I’m not really hungry. I’ll have more later if I get hungry,” Julian said, giving a casual excuse to avoid hurting her feelings.
Layla smiled, unbothered by his words. As long as Julian ate what she made, even later, she would be happy. “Alright, but you promised to eat it all, or I’ll be sad. It’s my first time cooking, so don’t kill my enthusiasm!”
Julian chuckled softly, reaching out to tousle her hair. “I’ll eat it, don’t worry. But don’t you have classes? How did you find the time to make all this?”
“I’ve been preparing for my graduate exams lately. I spent the morning in the library, and when I had some free time in the afternoon, I decided to make this for you and then come over,” Layla explained. “Oh, and I heard there’s going to be a meteor shower soon. Let’s watch it together, okay?”
Layla thought back to her recent encounter with Chloe but decided not to mention it. She didn’t want to cause any trouble by bringing up Chloe’s name.

Julian only hummed in response, neither agreeing nor disagreeing. He seemed distracted as he tugged at his tie, the movement a little rougher than usual.
“We’ll see,” he said noncommittally.
Seeing his lack of enthusiasm, Layla didn’t push further. “It’s getting late. I should probably head back to campus.”
Layla had dressed up carefully today, wearing a more revealing outfit in hopes of catching Julian’s attention. She wasn’t planning to leave tonight, but Julian clearly wasn’t taking the hint. Determined not to give up so easily, she stepped closer, her chest brushing against his arm.
“It’s so late already, and you’re still sending me away?” she pouted, her voice sweet and teasing.
Julian felt a small tremor in his chest at her tone and her gaze full of sliding to her waist as he leaned down and whispered, “Of course I do. also don’t want to get you into trouble.”
‘ion. He smiled, his hand want to send you away, but I
“Trouble? I didn’t think there was anything you were afraid to do,” Layla laughed, pressing herself even closer to him.
Julian smiled back, giving her a gentle squeeze before pulling away. “Let’s not push our luck. I’ll take you back to your dorm.”
Realizing he wasn’t going to change his mind, Layla sighed inwardly. She had no choice but to follow him out. As they reached the door, she suddenly stopped and turned to face Julian with a serious look.
“Darling, you said there’s nothing you’re afraid to do. So, here’s something–would you let me add my fingerprint to the door? Every time I come here, I have to wait outside forever, and I don’t want to disturb you while you’re working. The last few times I’ve come by, I’ve been bitten by mosquitoes while waiting. Don’t you feel bad seeing me, such a beautiful girl, getting bitten up like that?”
Layla knew better than to push too hard too fast. Patience was key. Her first goal was to secure her fingerprint in the house’s security system. That would give her more freedom in coming and going, making her a more permanent fixture in Julian’s life.
Julian chuckled at her playful tone and pinched her nose affectionately. “I didn’t realize. Of course, we can add your fingerprint. Come on, let’s get it done.”
Layla’s face lit up with happiness. She threw her arms around Julian’s neck and kissed his cheek. “You’re the best! I love you so much! Now I can visit you whenever I want!”
