Chapter 18
Caleb’s frame shuddered, his gaze fixed on Christine in utter disbelief.
Custine looked resigned as she continued, “I have actually realized it for quite a while now. You didn’t try to reconcile with me after Sophia lett, so I understood that I had completely messed up. I thought that I was testing you–by malding you wait and making you like me more -but I didn’t expect that you’d meet someone you actually fell for.”
She then hung her head, feeling utterly bitter. Every part of her relationship with Caleb had been carefully planned. Sophia, however, was different. She had poured everything into her love for Caleb, loving him wholeheartedly without any games or tricks. Caleb still fell for her in the end, genuinely and profoundly so. She had lost again, not only academically to Sophia but also in love and sincerity.
Though it felt as if her heart were being tom apart, Christine’s pride forced her to hold her head up high as she said, “I guess that’s it then. I don’t need you in my life. I’m sure I can find someone who’s a better match for me.”
Christine fought back tears and tumed to leave.
It was only after watching Christine leave the alleyway that Caleb finally came to his senses. In that instant, he finally realized his true feelings–he had already fallen in love with Sophia, just as Christine had mentioned.
It would explain why he had gotten so enraged during the photoshop incident. He had reluctantly agreed to his friends‘ awful idea of photoshopping Sophia’s photos and putting them online, thinking that he had to agree to it to keep up with his reputation among his triends. Yet, when he actually saw the photos, he became solutions that he beat Scott up, leaving him gravely injured
Then, when Christine feigned injury at Sophia’s hand, be, in a fit of cage, ordered his friends to deal with Sophia. However, he regretted it immediately upon reaching the door, so he rushed back and saw his friends attempting to violate sophia. He got so enraged that he beat them to the point of sending them to the ICU, even though they were his childhood friends.
Later on, even though Sophia had made it perfectly clear she wasn’t interested in graduate school, he still refused to end their relationship. He made up all kinds of excuses, claiming that it was for Christine’s sake and insisting that it was just a precaution. In fact, the real reason was that he didn’t want to break up with Sophia. He had begged for Sophia’s forgiveness, had ineeled before her on one knee, and had even waited for her at the sports field for such a long time. It turned out that all of these actions originated from his genuine feelings.
It was already too late when he came to this realization, though–Sophia had already left for Mavrosia.
Caleb suddenly raised his head, thinking that it was never too late. It didn’t matter if Sophia had left abroad; he would do everything in his even if it meant enduring a long–distance relationship or following her abroad.

Having thought of this, Caleb suddenly felt a sense of enlightenment. He quickly walked out of the alleyway, got into the car, and instructed the driver, exclaiming, “Go to the airport right now!!!
Meanwhile, Sophia was touring the campus in Mavrosia
Though the had just arrived in Mavrosia, Sophia found herself unexpectedly fond of this place. She enjoyed the climate and the more pronounced sense of personal space between its inhabitants. There was a norable absence of idle gossip and intrusive inquiries in Mavrosia as well.
It was then that a commotion broke out ahead Sophia got curious and went over to see what was happening, where she noticed a fellow international student, whom she had recently met, hurry past her. She instinctively grabbed her arm and asked, “What’s happening up front, Wendy? Why’s there such a commotion?”
Upon tearing that, Wendy Lake, brimming with excitement, exclaimed, “There’s a ridiculously handsome man up ahead! He’s standing by the entrance, seemingly looking for someone. His appearance caused such a commotion that so many people gathered just to catch a glimpse of him!”
“A ridiculously handsome raan?” Sophia was momentarily stunned. She couldn’t help but look out of cumosity, but after just Though there were a lot of people surrounding him, Sophia was able to look past the crowd and spot the tallest, most eye–catching figure–it was Caleb. She

She immediately dismissed that notion with a shake of her head the moment that thought surfaced in her mind. Caleb could possibly have come for her since she had never mattered that much to him.
She had no desire to speculate on Caleb’s reasons for being here. She merely turned around and tried to slip away, hoping that he wouldn’t notice her.
It was all too late, though, as Caleb managed to spot Sophia through the crowd. His eyes immediately lit up as he exclaimed, “Sophia!“
