Chapter 15
“How did you guns find out about this?” caleb asked in surprise. He was certain that only he and Christine had been on the sports field earlier. He couldn’t help but wonder how they had leamed about their conversation.
“You’ve been quite careless, Cal.” It was then that one of caleb’s friends took out his phone and waved it at him, saying, “You always leave your phone unlocked and in your pocket. It’s only a matter of time before you dial someone by accident. I just got a call from you, and when I picked up, you didn’t say anything. I Instantly figured out that you had called me by mistake.
It was then that I heard Christine saying something about getting back together. You have nothing to worry about, though. I know it’s a private affair, so I hung up right away. Did things get steamy after you got back together?”
His friends burst into laughter after saying that, while his complexion underwent a noticeable pallor. He had a habit of playing with his phone and frequently forgot to lock the screen, resulting in accidental calls on numerous occasions.
He suddenly realized something and pushed aside his laughing friends. He grabbed his phone and scrolled through the call history. His face suddenly drained of color, realizing that after his date with Sophia, he had accidentally called her when he got back to the dorm.
He recalled that night–he had told his friends he was just playing around with Sophia and admitted that he had approached her just to help Christine with her graduate school application.
He checked the call duration, noting that it was an hour long. He was convinced that Sophia had heard everything. His phone slipped from his fingers, crashing onto the floor. Did Sophia learn the truth about their relationship that night, prompting her to leave the country to study abroad?
“What’s wrong, Cal? Caleb’s friends were taken aback, but before they could say more, Caleb had already tumed and walked out in a hurry.
His friends called our after him, “Where are you going, Cal?
“I’m heading to the airpon!” Caleb declared, continuing his stride. He then took out his phone and called his butler, saying, “I need you to arrange a private jet for me. I need to head to Mavrosia right now!”
