Chapter 10
Meanwhile, at the sports field, Caleb’s nose was buried in his phone. He was in the seventh round of his game.
When he looked up, he realized that even more people had gathered around him.
Some tookphotos while others whispered among themselves.
“That’s Caleb Lancaster, the campus heartthrob. He’s so dreamy!”
Not only is he dreamy, but he’s also a romantic! He’s been waiting all moming just to apologize to his girlfriend.”
“But It’s already past ten. Why hasn’t this girlfriend shown up yet? Is she not planning to forgive him?”
“My goodness, what person would do that? If such a gorgeous guy were to apologize to me in public, I’d forgive him no matter what he did!”
“Let’s wait and see. Maybe she’s on her way
Caleb’s brows furrowed slightly.
He had been waiting here since dawn broke.
He thought Sophia wouldn’t make him wait long. He expected her to come running straight away.
But it was nearly noon, and there was still no sign of her.
He ruffled his hair in annoyance.
Perhaps he had gone too far yesterday, enough to upset even someone as mild–tempered as Sophia.
Whatever. He’d just wait a little longer. She would probably soften up by the aftemoon and come looking for him.
As Caleb was deep in his thoughts, a voice called out from the crowd. “Call”
He looked up to find his group of friends pushing through the onlookers.
They were dumbfounded to find Caleb actually standing at the sports field, waiting for Sophia.
“No way, Cal. Are you seriously waiting for Sophia?”
He scoffed, his voice dripping with impatience. “What do you think? Did you think I was jolding?”
The lads exchanged bewildered glances.
“Well, we thought you were planning to break up with her! We figured this whole apology thing was just a game to mess with her.”
“Yeah! When Christine asked us about it yesterday, that’s exactly what we told her.”
At the mention of Christine’s name, Caleb’s eyelids twitched
His expression tumed grim, and be grabbed the collar of the last guy who spoke. “What nonsense did you tell Cluistine?”
Terrified by Caleb’s formidable expression, he stammered, “N–Not nonsense Cal, wasn’t It you who said it yourself? You said Sophia wasn’t pursuing grad school and was going to start working instead. If that’s the case, why waste your time on her? We thought you’d already grown bored of her, so we assumed this apology was just to humiliate her…“!!
Caleb‘ pupils contracted sharply.
The other guys hesitated but couldn’t hold back their thoughts. One of them spoke cautiously, “Speaking of which, Cal, at the karaoke bar yesterday. You were the one who told us to handle Sophia however we wanted. But when Henry and the others touched her, you went completely berserk
“Yeah, you beat them up so badly they’re still lying in the hospital. Especially Henry; they say he might even be permanently disabled. I mean, the Walker family Isn’t one to mess with…
After rescuing Sophia last night, Caleb didn’t rush straight to Christine
First, he went rogue on those who had hamed her. Anyone who so much as laid a finger on Sophia was severely beaten up.
Not to mention those who tried to rip her clothes oft–each got an express ticket to the ICU
The guys still standing here today were those who didn’t touch Sophia.
Caleb’s face was dark with fury, but he said nothing. His friends, however, were starting to feel that there was more to it than met the eye. One of them finally mustered the courage to ask, “Cal… Do you, by any change, have feelings for Sophia?**
