Chapter 24
As Priscilla stood in front of Josiah and listened to his remorseful, passionate confession, all she felt was disgust.
He would have never done this if he hadn’t lost everything, if Brittany hadn’t betrayed him, or if he weren’t standing, there in complete tuin.
Priscilla knew that this wasn’t about love. Josiah simply wanted someone who would love him unconditionally, while never offering the same love in return.
Had he ever loved Brittany? Maybe. But more than anything, it was obsession–an infatuation with something he couldn’t have.
And once he finally got her, it didn’t take long before he started thinking about Priscilla again. The moment Brittany was his, she lost her shine. The absession faded the second the chase was over.
With that realization, the last weight in Priscilla’s heart lifted. It wasn’t her fault. Brittany and Josiah were the ones who lacked boundaries and never understood the worth of real love
she didn’t need to keep tearing herself apart over it
“you really are a rotten person through and through,” she said coldly

Josiah thought that he had slipped past the guards, but in truth, Maddox had arranged everything. He knew that Priscilla needed that final confrontation, that last moment, to completely let go of her past
Josiah and Brittany’s downfall had all been orchestrated by him. He was tired of watching them buzz around Priscilla like flies. Although they didn’t pose any real threat, he found thep imitating,
“Brittany’s recently gotten involved with a low–level gang member. Word is that she’s planning to tamper with Ms. Collins‘ ear.”
Maddox clicked his tongue before muttering, “That annoying fly
“oet in touch with their boss. It’s been a while, so invite him to dinner. Ask if his compound’s hiring.”
“As for Josiah..he’s got no value left. Deal with him too,
Just then, a familiar voice called out from the hallway. “Maddox, I’m here to pick you up.‘
Hearing Priscilla’s voice, Maddox gave Hayden a look, dismissing him silently, He then stood up and went to greet her. Pulling her into his arms, he felt every ounce of stress from the day melt away.
*1 really wish I could just tie you to my side, so I could see you every second of the day. You’ve been so caught up with that studio that we haven’t even gone on–a proper date in ages,” Maddox grumbled, his voice full of playful resentiment.
Priscilla fels slightly guilty when she beard him complain. She knew that she had been busy with the launch of her new studio lately and had been unintentionally neglecting him.
