Wes, Mr. Vance.”
Chapter 98
Linda watched Samuel’s back as he walked away and could only shake her head in belpless silence.
Kylie didn’t wake up until after 9:00 am the following day.
“I remember getting into the car to go to the hospital. How did I end up here?” she asked a housekeeper, confused.
“You fell asleep before we even lett the villa,” the housekeeper replied.
“I see. That’s all. You can go now.”
Kylie didn’t think much of it, assuming that she’d just been too exhausted. After a full night’s rest, she felt noticeably more refreshed.
She glanced around the spacious guest room, took a deep breath, and then walked over to the corner where her suitcase sat.
She began packing her things, and not a single item Samuel had bought her made it into the bag.
Kylie had made up her mind–if she was cutting ties, staying at Hythe Villa made no sense.
As she wheeled the suitcase out, she suddenly stopped in surprise when she saw Samuel sitting in the living room, reading the paper.
“You’re not going to the office today?” she asked.
“No,” Samuel replied casually, glancing up at her. Then, his gaze landed on her suitcase and immediately darkened. “Where do you think you’re going?”
His expression was sharp, his lips tight, and his posture composed–but even without speaking, he had the kind of natural presence that filled a room. It was intimidating.
“I’ve decided that I don’t want to marry you anymore, so I’m moving out,” Kylie flatly said. “It’s not appropriate for me to stay here now, is it? I was foolish and impulsive before, but I hope you won’t hold it against me, Mr. Vance.”
Kylie finished speaking and tumed to leave with the suitcase in hand, not giving Samuel a chance to reply.
“Stop right there.” Samuel’s voice sliced through the air like a whip.
Kylie froze in place and saw Samuel rising from the couch and walking toward her.
Instantly, the temperature in the room plummeted.
Kylie’s hear tightened, but she kept her composure. “Is there something you need, Mr. Vance?”
“Foolish and impulsive? Samuel let out a slow, mocking laugh. “Sounds like no one’s ever told you actions like that come with consequences
“Since I’ve already taught you what it means to be at the mercy of power, I don’t mind giving you another lesson.”
“I’m not interested in that kind of lesson,” Kylie snapped. “You’re busy, Mr. Vance. Time is money, and I won’t waste it.”
“Too bad,Samuel said, eyes narrowing. “You can’t put a price on my time.”
“Jim,” Samuel cut Kylie off before she could get another word out. “Take her suitcase back to her room.”
Without giving her a chance to object, he turned back to her and said, “I’ll drive you to the hospital.”
Kylie frowned, but when she saw his cold, unreadable face, she decided not to push it.
With that, she silently got into the car.
Owen scondition hadn’t improved. He simply lay on the bed, unresponsive, silent, and barely hanging on
Cutside the ward, the sudden sound of fast, frantic footsteps echoed through the hallway,
The door soon burst open, and Kylie saw a well–dressed middle–aged woman rush in
It was Felicia
The moment she stepped into the room and saw Owen lying lifeless in a hospital bed, hooked up to an oxygen tank, her entire body froze as it struck by lightning She just stood there, stunned, eyes locked on an image she never expected to see.
“Owen?” her lips quivered as she finally managed to speak. Her voice cracked “How How did this happen? He was fine when he left. What happened to him?
Felicia stumbled forward, her legs slowly giving out beneathaler.
“Mrs. Lloyd“” Kylie moved fast and caught her before she could fall
