Chapter 76
“You wouldn’t dare?” Samuel sneered. He didn’t think there was anything Kylie was afraidol
The effects of the drug, which had mostly faded, now surged back with full force, and Samuel wasn’t sure if it was because of her
His face darkened, and his eyes were filled with suppressed anger.
Damn it. He actually reacted toward her.
“yes, I wouldn’t dare.” Kylie sensed the change in him and didn’t dare move. She simply stayed still as her heart pounded wildly in her chest.
“Relax. How could 1 bear to let you die? That’d be far too boring.” Sammel dangerously narrowed his eyes as he said in a hoarse voice, “There’s something tar more Important I need you for right now.”
A flush crept up Kylie’s cheeks.
A thought surfaced in her mind, but she quickly dismissed it as impossible.
Samuel had made it clear that he would never touch her. Besides, everyone knew him as a man of discipline and self–control–someone who stayed away from
Women
Kylie steadied herself and asked, “What do you mean?”
Samuel’s voice was thick with desire. “A man seeks out a woman in the middle of the night, in a situation like this–you’re either really innocent or just pretending to be.”
Her suspicion was confirmed, and she froze.
It was at least a two–hour drive from Seville to Starlight Summit.
He was obviously using her as an antidote.
Kylie quickly said, “Didn’t you say you wanted me to be a widow? A man like you can have any woman you want. When you come all this way just for me, not to misunderstand your intentions.”
It’s hard
“You think I can’t live without you?” Samuel’s tone was ice–cold. He reached out, gripped her chin, and forced her to meet his gaze, “You’d better not get that idea.
Then, he said, “I’ve just changed my mind. You started this. You don’t get to decide when and how it ends. If you want to live under the title of Mrs. Vance, you’ll have to pay the price for it, and pain is the only way you’ll learn.”
Kylie’s fingers clenched tightlyin her lap. “It takes two hours to get here from Seaville. Wouldn’t it make more sense to do this with the woman you actually love?” “You sure know how to keep things clear, but you’re the best option for me to vent.” Samuel’s laugh was scomful, and his words were laced with utter humiliation. “Traveling all this way just for me–anyone would think you’re hopelessly in love and staying celibate just for my sake,” Kylle retorted, trying to provoke him and hoping to breachis resolve
“Are you trying to bait me?” Samuel smirked. Despite his young age, he was known to be cunning “Toutgrew tricks like that when I was ten. Save your breath.” Kylie bit her lip as bitterness welled up inside her. She lowered her p gaze and refused to look at him.
Finally, she gave up. “If you’re going to humiliate me like this, then at least get it over with quickly ”
She was trapped between him and the seat, but her body was stift as a board.
Instantly, the light in Samuel’s eyes went out and was replaced by pure rage. “Get out!” he backed,
Kylie scrambled to grab her clothes, hastily throwing them on before stumbling out of the car. She then fled from the parking lot and vanished into the Inky darkess of the right.
There were no more uses back to Seville at this hour, and with nowhere else t
to go, she had no choice but to return to the sanctuary. On the way up the mountain, she ran into Owen, who had been heading down to look for her.
“Did he do anything to you?” Owen held up his phone for light, scanning her up and down in concem. “I’m fine,” she calmly said. “Are you?”
Owen didn’t believe her, but he couldn’t see any visible wounds. “I’m fine,” he said after a pasise “Then let’s go
Hackat the sanctuary, Ky
Kylle found a first aid kit and tended to Owen’s wounds.
Samuel had looked ready to kill him back there, but now that she was seeing it up close, the injuries were only superficial.
Upon petuning to her mom, Kylle took another shower and lay down on her bed with a bitter sigh
Where had she gotten the confidence and sheer audacity to think that she could expose Iris‘ true colors? Why did she think he would actually believe her?
