Chapter 2 

Katrina’s POV 

I opened my eyes slowly, a terrible ache threatening to split my head. 

I groaned as I rubbed my head, flinching when I touched a large bump on it. 

What happened last night?. 

My brain was still in a daze as I tried to remember all that had happened. 

I looked around the dark room confiased, my brain finding it hard to remember yesterday’s events. 

And that’s when it came in, slowly at first, and then it all hit me all at once. 

My wedding, the shooting, and then getting kidnapped. 

With a gasp, I pushed up from the bed but I was instantly pulled back down by something. 

“Huh?” I asked in confusion, finally noticing the chain around my wrist. 

“Are you finally awake!” A familiar voice asked, making me jolt up in fear. 

I strained my eyes to see in the dark, and I sighed when I finally found his figure leaning against the wall. 

“I’m finding it hard to see you here, could you please turn on the lights,” I said without thinking, my mouth working faster than my brain could. 

Oh, don’t get me wrong. I am terrified, scared out of my wits. But with all I’ve gone through in my father’s hands. I’m certai that I would be fine. 

And was I going to show just how scared I was? Of course not! Showing them your fear is going to give them something to prey on. 

The sound of clapping was heard and the lights came on the next second. I closed my eyes due to the brightness of the ligh finding it hard to see for the first few seconds. 

When my eyes finally got used to the bright room, I opened them. 

My eyes fell on the man standing right in front of me and my breath hitched. 

He was beautiful 

His hair was let down this time and he was wearing a shirt and trousers. He seemed to be around his mid–forties. 

But I don’t think I minded that. 

“You’re staring,” he said coldly, his grey eyes piercing through me. I cleared my throat, looking away. 

You’re different from what I expected,” His tone was flat and I turned my attention back to him not understanding he 

Different from what he expected? What was that supposed to mean? 

My lips turned into a frown when he brought out a lighter and atobacco wrap, lighting it up. 

I watched with distaste as he took a drag, letting out smoke.

Chapter 2 

He finally noticed the look on my face and a brow caine up. 

“You don’t like the smoke?” 

Tm asthmatic, my reply came immediately and I stared at him with a blank face. 

We held eye contact for a while before he handed the wrap to someone. 

A figure that it never noticed. 

“Don’t you have any questions you want to ask? Shouldn’t you be screaming for mercy or threatening me to release you? Do you not understand the sinuation you’re in?” He asked and I shrugged. 

Honestly, between you and 1 

I would rather remain here with this handsome man as a kidnapper than go back to my father at this point. 

And I’m certain my father would’t care that I got kidnapped. He just wouldn’t mind because he doesn’t have another daughter to use as a business bargain 

“Who are you?” I asked him finally, wanting to satisfy my curiosity. 

Twenty–three years and your dad never mentioned me to you? I could see the anger in his eyes and he clenched his fist 

tightly 

Uhm. Im twenty–four, I corrected. His eyes fell on me and I shrunk back in fear. 

What happened between them? And am I supposed to know him? He does seem familiar but I think it’s just him being good–looking. 

“Prepare her for the wedding, we have just two hours,” He pushed up from the wall, talking to no one in particular. 

I watched him as he walked slowly towards the door and that was when it hit me. 

Wait Wedding? What wedding was he talking about? 

Tm not getting married to anyone,” I hissed at him, pushing up from where I sat. 

I tried to pull my hands, but they were still chained 

He pivoted slowly, staring at me with cold eyes. 

“I don’t remember asking for your opinion,” 

The door was pulled open by someone and he walked out without a second word. 

My heart thumped loudly as I thought about the situation I had found myself in. 

I just escaped a wedding and I was just about to have another one? What was I going to do? I couldn’t let this happen. 

But there was no way for me

How do I keep getting myself in situations like this? 

Immediately, the room was filled with women and I stared at them surprised. 

“Unchain her, then bath her. Make sure you scrub every inch of her skin,” One of them said and I guessed she was the one in charge. 

Chapter 2 

After my wrist finally got unchained, one of them reached for me to undress me and I slapped her hand away. 

“Don’t touch me, I hisses, glaring at her. 

With no words, the one in charge closed the distance between us. She stared at me silently for a while, her emerald green eyes piercing into ine. 

Before I could process what happened, my face turned to the side my check stinging. 

“Don’t forget where you are. You’re not in Daddy’s little mansion, so I suggest you watch how you behave. She threatened. taking a step back. 

1 let out a breath, blowing the strands of hair on my face away. 

If she thought that hurt then she should know that I’ve faced worse. 

The rest of the women enclosed me, pulling out my clothes and soon I was clad in nothing but my nakedness. 

“Your body isn’t even all that. Wash her up, and prepare her. I don’t know what has gotten into the boss, but he wants to get marned to her,” 

I could see her eyeing my body in envy and I knew the comment she made about my body was a lie. 

Besides I’ve seen my body, it was the only thing I’d gotten from my parents and I liked it 

And what was that last sentence she said? I was getting married to him? 

I had thought that he would push me to one of his lackeys and got get married to me himself. 

He was almost twice my age plus he had greying hair, what was he thinking? 

Shouldn’t he be married with kids? 

After they washed me up and brought me out of the bathroom, my body was pink and stinging. 

I was fixed into a very tight dress, finding it hard to breathe. 

“Can you loosen.” I reached for the back of the dress but my hands were slapped away immediately. 

They all ran around as they tried to fix my face and my hair, and soon I was led out of the room. 

We stopped in front of a shut door and a flower was pushed into my hands. 

I could hear hymns coming through the shut door and I wondered if there was a church in there. 

I turned to look at the women and they all gave me a hateful glare. 

With no idea where I was, running away now was the stupidest thing I could think of 

Taking a deep breath, more out of the fact that I couldn’t breathie than out of nervousness, I pushed the door 

and 

walked in. 

The mini church was empty, save for my kidnapper who stood next to the priest and a few people scattered around. 

kept my nervousness at bay but my sweaty palms gave me away immediately. 

I walked slowly down the aisle, his cold grey eyes following me. 

“Make it quick,” he ordered the priest, turning away from me.

Chapter 2 

The priest started immediately, going immediately to the vows, 

“Do you take him as your husband, to” 

“Skip all that,” his tone was cold and filled with hatred and I swallowed thickly. 

I turned to look at all the men who stared at me with hostility. 

“I do, I answered, my tongue feeling sandy in my mouth. 

“Do you, Silas Morreti, take her to be your wife, 

“I do” 

I looked at him to see his eyes filled with hatred and anger, hatred directed at me 

But that name… It seemed familiar. But I couldn’t remember where it was from. 

He slapped the ring into my hands, putting it into his pocket. 

I was starting to feel dizzy due to my inability to breathe.. 

“We’re done here, his eyes fell on me once more, and I gasped when I finally recognized him. 

But there was no way that was possible, he’s supposed to be dead. 

Ignoring me, he started to walk away and I reached for his back weakly. 

“Uncle Silas” 

And that was when I passed out, the darkness welcoming me.
