Chapter 93
Enrica had no idea how she could possibly help Miguel. And to be honest, she didn’t care to figure it out.
so, no matter what Rohand said, het answer stayed the same. “Sorry, Ms. Zucker. I’m not obligated to meet you. I’ve got a full schedule. If there’s nothing else, I’m
“Wait” Rohana’s voice suddenly turned frantic, even a little desperate. “Enrica, I’m serious–this is important. You’re the only one who can help my brother. He’s th a really had spot right now. I’m begging you, please… 1 just need to talk to you.”
Enrica was geminely surprised
She knew better than anyone what kind of person Rohana was. She always behaved like she was entitled, aggressive, and loud. Especially with her, Rohana had bever shoven even the most basic respect, let alone hurjility. And now she was suddenly this soft–spoken?
still, no matter how odd it felt, Enrica had no intention of getting involved with the Zucker family ever again.
“I’m sorry, I’m really busy. I don’t have time,” she said flatly and ended the call.
She figured that was the end of it- weird little interlude in her day. But around lunchtime, one of her teammates came back from grabbing food and said, “Hey, Enrica, there’s a young lady downstairs asking for you. She says she’s your sister?”
Sister? Enrica was confused. She didn’t have a sister. Maybe Rachel came by?
She rushed downstairs, but the second the elevator doors opened, she saw Rohana. Her expression instantly darkened. She turned to leave, but Rohana rushed up
and blocked her path.
“Entica,” she said, her voice a little tense. “We need to talk”
Entica let out a dry laugh. “Ms. Zucker, maybe I wasn’t clear enough earlier. I can see you probably do need something from me. After all, it’s been three years, and not once have you ever spoken to me without barking orders or throwing insults.”
Her tone sharpened. “But even now, I still owe you nothing I divorced Miguel. better person to ask ”
I don’t belong to the Zucker family anymore. If he needs help, maybe Sheila is a
Rohana didn’t get mad–she’d done enough digging lately to know Enrica was nothing like the pushover she used to believe. She looked back at her calmly and said, “Enrica, Miguel took out a six–billion–dollar loan. Do you have any idea what that means for one person?
“If he can’t pay it back on time, it’ll ruin him—he could die.”
That made Enrica pause for a second. She didn’t understand how all that financial stuff worked. But still, she blinked in confusion. “And what does that have to do with me?”
Seeing her so calm and oblivious made Rohana’s blood boil. Her whole family was in chaos because of Entica, and here she was–completely untouched, acting like none of it concerned her. Part of her wanted to rip Enrica spart right there on the spot.
But she remembered the conversation between Jilliana and Miguel. She knew that it they had any shot at saving themselves, it started with Enrica. She had to help Miguel. So even if it meant swallowing every ounce of pride, she had to convince her.
“That lawyer–Lawrence,” Rohana said sharply, her voice low and bitter. “You’re the one who sent him after us, aren’t you?”
She stared at Enrica like she was the devil herself. “If you’ve got even the tilest bit of conscience left, tell him to back oft. Miguel is barely hanging on. You’re gonna destroy him!”
