Chapter 75
That night, Zave finally got the full story of how Enrica had been injured.
over the phone, Matthew asked, “Mr. Fulcher, do you want me to take care of those two?”
Zayne’s expression remained cold. “Mm. Find an excuse and fire them in the next couple of days.”
Just as Matthew was about to hang up, Zayne suddenly remembered something. “How’s Zucker Group’s stock doing?
“still on a downward trend. Miguel’s running around like a headless chicken, pulling every string he can post to get a call with Mr. Robertson,” Matthew replied.
Zayne leaned back on the couch, picked up a cigarette from the table, and lit it. He let it rest between his fingers before saying, “Have Mr. Robertson talk to him
tomorrow.”
Matthew immediately understood. “Got it.”
After hanging up, Zayne took a slow drag of his cigarette. Then, out of nowhere, he let out a low chuckle.
With a forceful press, he stubbed out the half–smoked cigarette in the ashtray, got up, and walked to the window, letting fresh air into the room.
The next morning, as soon as Enrica arrived at the office, she heard that Emily had made a critical mistake at work and had been fired.
She was surprised. Emily might not have been an outstanding employee, but she had always performed decently. There was no reason for her to be dismissed before her probation period was even over.
Emily stormed into Colin’s office and caused a huge scene. Even with the door shut, the yelling and the sound of things being thrown could be heard from ourside
The whole department pretended to be hard at work while secretly enjoying the drama.
After a long while, Emily finally stepped out of Colin’s office, her eyes red and swollen without a word, she walked back to her desk and began packing bet things
She hadn’t been with the company long, so she didn’t have much to take. Everything fits neatly into a single box.
While holding it in her arms, she walked straight to Enrica and stared at her with bloodshot eyes.
Her voice was horse as she said, “Enrica, you’ll pay for this. To protect your little affair, you actually schemed to kick me out. From now on, I’ll make sure every single day of your life is a living nightmare.”
Enrica froze, caught off guard. Emily still thought she was involved with Colin? And now she actually believed they had worked together to force her out?
Quickly, she tried to explain. “You’re misunderstanding, 1-
But Emily let out a cold laugh, tumed on her heel, and walked away without a second glance.
Entica watched her leave, a strange sense of unease creeping into herchest
That feeling was confirmed later that afternoon
just after lunch break ended, a message exploded in the office group chat. “Emily jumped off a building!”
The office instantly erupted in shock. Enrica stared at the message, her pupils contracting, her heart clenching
Emily jumped..?
She overheard her colleagues whispering, their voices hushed.
“Theard she jumped from the 27th floor of the hotel across from our office. Died on the spot.”
“Oh my… She was so young. What could’ve made her do something like that?”
Someone glanced over at Enrica and murmured, “Forget it, let’s not talk about this.
Enrica clenched her tists tightly, regret growing at her. It only she had stopped Emily this moming and explained everything to Emily would Emily have chosen a different path?
Logically, she knew this had nothing to do with her, but the guilt still weighed heavily on her.
As the workday neared its end, another bombshell plece of news swept through the department
