Roxanne lifted her bead, Surprise was written all over her face when she noticed it was Zachary who walked in with a bouquet cradled in his arms, “Zachary, what are you doing here?” she asked.
An apologetic look crossed Zachary’s face. “I was away at an event the last couple of days and only heard about what happened to you after I got back. I wanted to visit you, so I got your ward number from Elvira.”
He kneeled down in front of Roxanne before grabbing the shaft the IV bag was attached to. He then carefully tore off the bandage on her hand and removed the needle. He pressed down firmly on the new bandage with his large hands. When he looked up, Roxanne could see the gentleness in his eyes.
“Does it hurt?” Zachary asked
Roxane felt warmth spread in her heart. She could feel his care radiating off him. She shook her head with a small smile on her face. “It doesn’t hurt, Zachary,” “I’m the one who feels hurt,” Zachary replied, his voice trembling. “I heard you jumped off a clif?”
Roxanne’s chest tightened. She explained, “I had calculated everything beforehand. The clift wasn’t too high up, only about 32 feet tall. The waters below were also very deep. I was confident because I knew how to swim.”
