Chapter 50
His gaze lingered on me as he said that. My heart beat sped up as I realized what he was getting at. I didn’t want to feel too excited in case my hopes got dashed again but I really wanted to hope that it would be the outcome I wanted.]
Cyrus scanned the room as he spoke. “The Royal Academy will not give up on its investigation. We will do everything in our power to fish out the culprit and bring them to justice.“]
He finally smiled again. “Now, let’s welcome Adella to the third round of the Royal Academy’s examination.“]
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. It felt like some kind of lucid dream. Except I wasn’t dreaming. They were all applauding me.
I looked around, noting Askhan and Froste. They were both applauding as well. My chest blossomed with a certain warmth that seemed to pass to every single part of my body.
I qualified to enter the third round of exams. I actually qualified. I couldn’t help the smile that made its way to my face.]
This was it. This was my chance at finding my wolf. I’d suffered the humiliation of not having a woff for years. Now it would all come to an end.
I was another step closer to my goal and this time, I had to make sure it counted no matter what. Be it studying hard, or pushing myself even further, I would do whatever it took to get to where I wanted.]
Cyrus was still staring at me. He had that smile on his face, kind and non–threatening. Normally, I’d feel irked or disturbed if someone was staring at me so much but I didn’t feel one bit bothered by the look in his eyes.[]
He turned to the crowd that was still applauding. Eventually he brought his hands out and gestured for the clapping to die down. Once the crowd was quiet again, he cleared his throat.
“I have something else to add. You didn’t think that was it did you?” Cyrus glanced at me and winked before turning back to the crowd.
“Due to her excellent performance in the past, the Elders have deemed it unnecessary for Adella to take the third round of the test.”
I was stunned. “What does this mean?”
“It means, you will now be officially given your qualification to be a student to the Elder.” Cyrus announced, a smile on his face.
The whole crowd was surprised. They all turned to me, their gaze lingering as they murmured among themselves.[]
I was finding it hard to believe what I was hearing. They’d actually given me qualification. I was a student now.
The gasps still continued as everyone stared in shock at the girl who had been exempted from the final test due to her outstanding performance.]
A reporter pushed his way through the crowd and held a microphone out before my face. “Is it true? What outstanding performance did you have in the past?”
He turned to Cyrus. “Kindly explain this to us.”
Chapter 50
Cyrus took out a handwritten letter. It appeared to be from the elders. He cleared his throat and began to speak.]
“Adella once ran a pack for three years, ensuring the normal routine life of the pack’s businesses and personnel. She made sure all operations ran efficiently and kept emphasis on the quality of work they produced there, making the institution blossom.”
He folded the paper and put it aside. “I think that performance is outstanding enough to warrant this decision.”
They were all staring at me with admiration now. No longer the looks of disdain or whatever it was they’d been looking at me with when I first stepped into the room.]
My cheeks warmed as I realized all my efforts were being acknowledged. None of the noble teenagers had ever run a pack before or even come close to doing such a thing.
“She’s amazing.”
“Running a whole pack? How did she even do it?“]
“I almost can’t believe she did such a thing.”
Cyrus had a smile on his face as he watched me. He wanted this. He wanted my efforts to be acknowledged and that was something he’d already achieved.]
Of course, the moment didn’t last for long as Tina stepped forward. She had a disgruntled look on her face as she sent me a glare.
“It’s from her former pack, right? How are we sure it isn’t made up?“]
Her words were already swaying the crowed as they began to murmur among themselves. It was working. She had a confident smirk on her face, like she’d managed to achieve her aim.
I looked at Froste who seemed annoyed by what she had said. There was a look in his eyes as he stared at me. I already knew what he wanted to do.
He’d probably step forward and try to prove everything to the crowd. Maybe the Adella of a few years ago would be glad that he was defending her.
Not this one. Just as he stepped forward to speak, I interrupted him.]
“Those three years will be the least noteworthy three years of my life.” I said.[]
Froste looked confused, wondering what I was saying. I ignored him, glancing at Tina briefly before turning to face the crowd. I would no longer hold back anymore. If this was my chance at proving myself, I would grab it till my knuckles turned white.
“I plan on doing a lot more in the future. Just you watch me.“]
