Chapter 37
She scoffed, shaking her head. “You’re nothing but a selfish, morally–corrupt person. The only thing you’re good at is blowing your brothers‘ money.“]
She stepped even closer to me, a cruel smirk on her face. “It’s no wonder you got livestreamed that day.“]
Without thinking, I closed the distance between us and slapped her hard across the face. She looked stunned, her eyes wide with shock.]
“I’ll only say this once.” I started, my eyes narrowed on her. “If you mention this ever again, I will tear your face out and throw you in jail.”
Cyrene was at a loss for words, unsure of what to say. I didn’t wait for her to react and went on with what I was saying.]
“I don’t know why the book for the selection was sold out but it definitely had nothing to do with me. Maybe just do better next time.”
Her face reddened with anger and she stomped away. I let out a sigh, hugging the book to my chest. She could act like a bitch all she wanted but none of that would affect me.[]
I flipped the book open and began to read through it. I was vaguely aware of Halven’s presence by my side.]
I looked up to see it was Halven. He had a small smile on his face as he stared at me. “I love your eagerness to learn. It’s really admirable.“]
“Thank you.” I smiled. “I just love knowing I’m improving and working on myself.“]
“Well then.” Halven smiled, before clapping his hands.
Some men dragged in carts filled with books. I recognized them as really valuable books. It was hard holding back the smile on my face. Halven had a knowing smile on his face as he stared at me.[]
“My gift to you.”
The sun went down faster than I realized and soon enough, it was evening already. I let out a sigh, staring back at my reflection in the mirror.]
The music was booming loud enough for me to hear it from my room. My family had arranged for a big party and I would make an appearance as a member of the pack.
I felt a mixture of both excitement and nervousness but I was sure it was a mix of the both of them. I didn’t really know what to think of it and it was eating at me. Everything had to go right tonight.[]
Letting out a breath, I made my way out of the room and downstairs to where the party was being held.
The place had been decorated for the event. The room was filled with different people, all socializing with each other, and overall, having a great time.
I put on a smile, greeting the people I came across and trying to socialize as best as I could. Even if I wasn’t all that bubbly, it was still something that was expected of me as a princess.]
Chapter 37
I was scouring the room for my brothers when my gaze landed on a girl in the crowd. She was dressed in a beautiful gown and had on some jewellery that were sure to make you gawk.[]
My mood soured as Cyrene made her way to us. She wrapped a hand around the girls‘ arm, her lips twisted into a smirk.]
“This is Tina, daughter of the second richest family in the pack.”
I didn’t miss how the girl cringed as Cyrene mentioned the word ‘second‘. Her gaze remained fixed on me as she continued to study my every move.
I tried to smile. “Hello. I’m Adella. It’s nice to meet you.”
“So I’ve been told.” She said in a nonchalant tone. I was a bit taken aback. I barely knew her yet she was glaring at me like I’d somehow caused a war.

She eyed me up and down a couple of times before walking away with Cyrene following her trail. I swallowed down, trying not to let her attitude get to me. It could possibly have something to do with Cyrene.]
The girl would not hesitate to whisper slimy lies about me to any ear willing to listen. I let out a breath. None of that mattered. I was here to enjoy the party and that was what I planned on doing.
My eyes were fleeting through the contents of the book. I had a lot to cover in the material and I wanted to make sure I did that as quickly as possible.
I looked around at the coffee shop. It was quiet and peaceful. The perfect place for a study session. My focus was still on the book when someone stopped in front of the table.
Not someone. Two girls to be precise. Tina’s eyes were narrowed at me as she folded her arms. Cyrene was standing by her side, her glare very evident.]
