Chapter 25
I was still staring at Froste who had a certain look in his eyes.[]
I couldn’t tell if he actually meant the words he’d been saying or if he was just putting on some sort of show.[]
He’d made it clear that he didn’t trust me back then, so why the sudden change?[]
Frost turned back to me, a look of frustration in his eyes.[]
“There’s been some discrepancies with the financial records. I don’t know how it happened but things aren’t quite adding up. If we don’t do something about this now, we could end up losing all the assets we’ve worked for. Including what you worked for.“]]
I took in all he’d said in silence. Everywhere was quiet with all eyes on me but I wasn’t bothered by that.]
I turned to the employees who were all standing, staring at me.]
“Which one of you is working in the financial department?”
A few of them raised their hands up. I nodded my head and began to speak again.]
“I want to see all the company’s books and records. Every single dime that’s been spent, I want to see the record book of it.” I ordered.]
They all hurried to get what I’d requested. Not a moment later, they arrived with a stack of books in their hands.
I grabbed the books from them and began going through each and every one of them. The tension in the room was thick as everyone held their breath, waiting to hear what discovery would be made.]
“I should have known.” I snapped the book shut.
“What’s wrong?” Froste stepped closer to me.[]
Haelor’s eyes narrowed on him for a second. I pretended not to notice, focusing on Froste instead.[]
“I’d have thought you’d be more frugal with what you were doing.” I scoffed, handing him the book.
I turned to Erin and pointed a finger at her. She still has a nasty glare on her face.
“Based on the given records, it’s obvious someone has been embezzling the company’s funds and that someone is Erin.”
Froste’s mother blew up at me immediately. “How dare you accuse my daughter of such a thing? She has been nothing but loyal to this company. You insufferable woman. I should have you locked up for such defamation of character.“[]
“But I’m not defaming her character,” I shrugged. “Neither am I lying against her.“[]
I turned to Froste, my voice calm and collected.]
“I’m sure you must have seen it by now. Evidence of your sister’s crime of embezzling the company’s funds.“[]
Judging by the grim expression on his face, I knew I was right.[
Chapter 25
Froste couldn’t help but stare at me in what was a mixture of shock and regret.[
He couldn’t believe that I was capable of finding out everything so efficiently. A big pang of regret welled up in his chest.
He should have supported me with my work instead of letting me go back to my family.]
I didn’t bother with the look on his face. He could wallow in pain for all I cared. I suffered more than he’d ever be able to understand and nothing could ever make me forget that pain.
“So,” I continued. “What are you going to do with her?”
He turned to her, a harsh look on his face. Something told me he wasn’t about to let her off so
easily.
“She’s going to be handed over to the police. They’ll deliver the suitable punishment to her and deal with her appropriately.” He said. There wasn’t a single hint of remorse in his voice as he spoke.
Erin’s face twisted in anger as she glared at me. I could see the pure hatred burning in her eyes.]
To my surprise, she bursted into tears. Even Froste looked shocked seeing her cry.
“What the hell is your problem anyway?” She wiped at her eyes furiously. “Who are you to think you can judge my character, huh?”
She stomped angrily and stopped in front of me.
“You’re nothing but an unfaithful woman. I can see that you were cheating on my brother this whole time.“]
Her gaze shifted to Haelor who was still standing beside me. She scoffed loud enough so everyone could hear what she was saying.
“He’s your lover, isn’t he? And here you are thinking you have the right to judge me. I don’t want to hear anything from you. Not a peep.” she glared at me, a look of disgust on her face.
Froste strode up to her and grabbed her hand roughly. There was no single space for sympathy on her face. Absolutely none.
“Erin,” he continued. “For your crimes against the pack, you are hereby banished.“]
She forcibly removed her hand from his grip, tears sliding down her face.
“You can’t do this.” she cried.]
“The police will be here soon.” Froste said closely, putting his phone to his ear as he called the police.
She got down on her knees, gripping his leg like her life depended on it as she pleaded.[]
“You can’t do this.” She cried, tears falling down her cheeks.
