Chapter 21

Daphne stared at Nathan coldly, her voice laced with disdain. No way? Wake up, Nathan! Anna has already moved on from you. The only person she loves now is Louie. Even if you die here, she won’t spare you a second glance.”

Nathan didn’t seem to hear her. He clung desperately to her hand. His voice broke with desperation. Please help me, Daphne. I regret everything. I can’t live without her.”

Daphne’s anger flared so violently she almost fainted. She ripped her hand away from his and shouted, Snap out of it, Nathan! Go back to Vexford right now! If you don’t, I’ll have Mom and Dad drag you back!”

Nathan ignored her again. His pleading gaze was still fixed on the wedding venue’s doors

Shaking with fury, Daphne spun around to leave, but then she heard rapid footsteps behind her

She turned around and saw Nathan charging toward the parking lot of the wedding venue like a maniac

Annabelle and Louie were about to get into the car when Nathan suddenly rushed to the car window. He grabbed Annabelle’s hand, trembling as he asked, Where are you going, Anna?”

Annabelle looked at him coldly and replied sarcastically, The wedding’s over. Where do you think I’m going? I’m off to spend my first night with my husband, of course.”

Nathan’s face became ashen. His heart seemed to crush under the weight of her words. Anna, what do I have to do for you to forgive me? I’ll get on my knees. I’ll do anything. Please, don’t do this to me.”

With that, he dropped to his knees with a thud. His expression was filled with endless pain and regret. A man who’d once been so proud was now kneeling in agony

But Annabelle didn’t even spare him a glance. She coldly wrenched her hand from his grasp and spoke decisively, We’re over, Nathan. Stop harassing me.”

The car began to pull away. The sound of the wheels was like the beat of a hammer against Nathan’s heart

Driven by madness, Nathan stumbled after the car, running and screaming hoarsely, Anna! Anna! Don’t leave! I’m sorry! I’m really sorry! Please forgive me”

His figure looked so helpless on the street. His hair was tousled by the wind, and his steps were unsteady yet filled with a desperate determination. As he ran, he screamed, Anna! Anna! His voice was filled with despair and regret. Each cry was a desperate plea for Annabelle’s forgiveness

Nathan didn’t know how long he ran. His legs felt heavy, as if they were filled with lead, and his breath turned shallow and ragged. Every exhale sent a stab of pain through his chest, as if his body were falling apart. Yet, his eyes never strayed from the car

Inside, Annabelle never looked back at him

In the midst of this frantic chase, the memories Nathan had deliberately buried surged back like a tidal wave

He remembered how he’d deceived Annabelle time and again and the promises he’d made, which now felt like sharp blades tearing at his soul

He recalled all the care she’d shown him, how she’d nursed him when he’d been sick, and how she’d indulged him without hesitation in every intimate moment. Now, each of those loving gestures felt like a harsh judgment on him

She’d been so good, so perfect. Once, she’d been his. But now, she was married to someone else

Please don’t do this, Anna. I’m sorry. Don’t marry him, please,”

His voice grew weaker, alnost a whisper, but the car never stopped. Annabelle’s figure faded into the distance, swallowed by the night

Then, without warning, a car came barreling toward him from the side. The blinding headlights lit up his pale face. Before he could react, he heard a deafening crash

His body was thrown violently, hitting the ground with a sickening thud

Pain radiated through every inch of him, and his vision blurred as darkness began to claim him

In his final moments of consciousness, one thought echoed in his mind. Anna, can you forgive me if I die
