At first, Cynthia thought her mind was playing tricks on her. But as she ran closer, she realized it was indeed a person lying there, face down on the shore. She didn’t know if he was dead or alive

Cynthia dashed towards the figure. But the closer she got, the slower her pace became because the figure was all too familiar

Her heart started pounding wildly. She prayed it wasn’t Jonathan. But the figure on the sand looked just like him. Cynthia would rather believe it was a hallucination from missing Jonathan too much. She didn’t want to meet like this- people washed up by the waves rarely survived

Cynthia got closer and closer. Just about ten meters away, she suddenly stopped. She was almost certain

It was Jonathan. lying there, part of his body still in the water. Cynthia couldn’t understand why he was here

Cynthia wondered, Did he fall into the sea too? But why? And worst of all, was he even still alive

Fear gripped her, but only for a split second. Cynthia forced herself forward and flipped Jonathan over, her heart sinking at the sight of his pale, lifeless face

Jonathan’s skin was cold as ice, and every part of Cynthia felt like it was being pulled into a dark abyss. Desperately, she put a trembling finger under his nose, hoping for even the faintest hint of breath. Nothing. Not a single trace of life

At that moment, the world seemed to collapse, burying her under the weight of a devastating realization

Cynthia’s mind blanked out, and she began slapping Jonathan’s face, calling his name. Jonathan, wake up! Please, wake up! Grasping at straws, she started giving him CPR

Again and again, she pressed on his chest, pinched his nose, and breathed life into his still lungs. Cynthia knew the odds

were slim

If more than ten minutes had passed since he’d stopped breathing, his survival was a distant hope

Wake up. Jonathan, please,Cynthia pleaded, her voice breaking as she continued to pump his chest, her fingers trembling uncontrollably

Cynthia had never felt fear like this in her entire life. Her mind went blank, leaving only a growing void of terror and helplessness

As the minutes ticked by, the fear inside her grew, devouring her hope like a black hole

Cynthia’s hands cramped from the effort her body spent. Reality began to creep in, a dark understanding that Death had already claimed him. Jonathan wasn’t coming back

Finally, Cynthia broke. She collapsed onto his chest, her strength and composure crumbling as she cried out, clinging to him, unable to let go

Jonathan, wake upplease, just wake up,” Cynthia whispered, her head resting on his chest. If you do, I’ll promise you anything

At that moment, she felt the weight of life’s emptiness pressing down on her. If he was gone from this world, what meaning could anything have

Really? You can promise me anything? The voice was so faint i could’ve been her imagination drifting through the air. Cynthia froze. She even forgot to cry, quickly lifting her head to look at him

Chapter 207

Jonathan’s eyes were open a hint of color returning to his oncepale face

He looked fragile, his voice barely a murmur, yet he managed to get the words out. Then marry me. Will you?”

Tears burst from Cynthia’s eyes as she collapsed onto the sand, crying like a child

She hadn’t let herself cry this freely in years, but now the floodgates were open, and there was no holding back. The earth could have split apart, and she wouldn’t have cared

Even Jonathan drained of all strength, struggled to sit up, propping himself up on his elbows, scrambling to comfort her. All right, all right, please don’t cry. The ocean didn’t take me, but I might drown in your tears if you keep this up.”

Cynthia finally lost all restraint and threw her arms around Jonathan, pulling him close

Cynthia cried into his shoulder, and Jonathan held her just as tightly, clinging to her as if he’d found life all over again

By evening, they finally managed to calm down. Cynthia looked over at Jonathan, her voice steady but curious. Sowhat happened?”

Jonathan explained, recounting everything that had happened since. Cynthia then understood that after she had disappeared into the ocean, Jonathan had been flying a helicopter through the storm, searching for her for a long time

Eventually, though, the typhoon had pulled him into the ocean, where he’d drifted for what felt like forever. Jonathan recalled a vague feeling of someone rescuing him, as though he’d spent days asleep on a yacht, with someone even bringing him meals

But when Jonathan finally woke up, he found himself lying alone on the sandy shore of this island. The whole experience felt unreal, seemed like a dream

Cynthia listened, just as astounded. She had glimpsed strange flickering lights while she’d been drifting in the sea as well

She wondered, Could it be that their reunion here is more than just chance? Whatever the reason, meeting each other again, alive, was nothing short of a miracle

She led Jonathan to her bamboo cabin. Jonathan gaped at the twostory structure, complete with an attic made from bamboo. Youbuilt this?”

Cynthia nodded. Had to keep busy on this island somehow, or have gone crazy overthinking”

Jonathan was utterly amazed. Who exactly taught you all these skills?”

Cynthia shrugged with a smile. “An old, stubborn soul taught me

Jonathan felt that Cynthia’s past was a mystery he still hadn’t unraveled, but it intrigued him more than ever

Inside, Jonathan lay down on the bamboo floor, relishing its coolness, which felt like a natural air conditioner

He patted the spot beside him, and Cynthia settled down next to him. Turning on his side, he wrapped her in his arms. pulling her close

Drifting on the open sea, he hadn’t known how much time had passed. It had felt like an endless nightmare, every second a fresh wave of agony as he failed to find her

Flying that helicopter had become a desperate, hopeless act with each pass through the storm. He’d prepared himself only to find her lifeless body

Toward the end, he wasn’t sure if his crash had been from the typhoon or his despair

Chapter 207

He remembered, though, a lazy vision of fiveyearold Cynthia waving to him in a tree with her pigtails and a lollipop in her mouth. It was one of the last images in his mind before the world went black before he was plunged into the depths of

the ocean

But now, feeling her warmth against him, real and alive, Jonathan felt tears streaming down his face
